Remember, for the most part, the "Retiring Soon" tag is a sales gimmick used to get customers to buy something - typically slow sellers/overstocked sets/sets they need to move because they want to be done with the line, whatever. Most sets retire without that tag. It's not like LEGO is under any sort of obligation to mark stuff a certain way. They do it to move product.5 points

they do help resellers - to know NOT to buy the turds first with the retiring soon tag. sort of the inverse of last kid getting picked for x-ball team. i'm guessing they slapped the tag on PR - it started selling like hotcakes to clueless post petshop newbs thinking they have a chance making money with some VIP points or nonsenese discounts and TLG want to have enough stock on black friday/ cybermonday to be able to claim they offered it on sale. i wouldn't be surprised if we get a fake call 2 check coming up to really juice up demand and keep the small stash available for the grand holiday sales extravaganza.3 points

There’s a documentary, I forget which one, where they talk about Lego’s low point and almost bankruptcy. The CEO held up a Jack Stone “fire truck” and said this is what they need to never do again, that a fire truck should look like a fire truck. Seems they have forgotten already. Now here we are with this garbage.3 points

https://www.promobricks.de/lego-disney-princess-2020-bilder-und-infos-zu-den-ersten-sets/89267 Looks like they're taking a page out of the Polly Pocket book, literally. Reminds me of pop-up books and there are what I would call "microdolls"? Very interesting. If this Disney "book" idea catches on these could end up being highly collectible. All the books, all the microdolls, completionists dream.2 points

Are you implying that they don't tag sets "retiring soon" to help resellers know what to buy? Surely you can't be serious...2 points

According to the Amazon Black Friday 2019 press release found here [aboutamazon.com], they will have the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Millennium Falcon [amazon.com] on sale for 40% off. Their Black Friday sales will start this Friday, November 22 and run through November 29. It is unclear when the Falcon deal will go live, but it will surely not last long! - I feel like the fat kid in doge ball. My chances of success here are slim.2 points

Sold my last 41172 Water Dragon for $85 . 4 x buy in and were available all day everyday at my local store. Great little investment set. Cheap to post , easy to store and returns were excellent. Wish I’d bought more than I did .2 points

Not related to an order status but this kind of ties in with the Target ban / insta-cancel discussion and I found it funny. I received a letter in the mail today from Target stating that they raised my credit limit. Gee, that's great, but if you won't let me buy anything then what's the point?! In the mean time, I've been successfully placing orders with my wife's new account and everything has been going smoothly so far. The gift cards are accumulating quickly, and everything has been shipping with no questions asked.2 points

I've been bundling the "losers" that I've purchased at 50-90% off RRP for 10-20% below RRP. For smaller sets I'll bundle 2-4 together and for larger sets I'll throw in a smaller set or polybag. Themed polybag bundles do well priced at $3-5 each. Staying in the $15-$60 range seems to be the sweet spot.2 points

Don't call me Shirley, I'm a collector and Lego OWES me. They owe me retiring tags on all the sets that are retiring. They owe it to me to retire sets in the order they released. They owe it to me to retire sets and never bring them back even with a different number and a slightly different piece count. I am a collector and I demand such things.1 point

Last year they gave us prior notice of sets on offer on a particular day. Sets were limited to max of 3 purchased.1 point

They were definitely aware and acknowledged it was their promo code and they were fixing it, so yeah I think they just messed up. I do think the whole "its via email, but not via eBay messages" is part of the delivery problem too.1 point
-
FYI if you are having a problem with the code, its on eBay. I found an item that qualified but the code wouldn't work. CS told me they have messed up and are currently trying to fix code. Some have worked, some haven't1 point

What are they fetching on Amazon right now? Unless those sellers bought in at $20 or less, which was never available, I don't see how they can be making anything worthwhile right now when that set is still widely available at below retail. Let them sell. Less to worry about later.1 point

I like it. It checks off some boxes. Potter. Unique. Unlikely to be remade. Easy to store and ship. I was buying from Target at $40 with the $10 gift card deal last spring & summer. Walmart clearance at $30 they disappeared quick and didn’t linger, so that’s a good sign of its potential popularity. I still like it, but these recent online clearance sales will have an impact. Will probably be a mid-long range hold now.1 point
-
Yes that would be nice, but its still 43% off and the lowest price it's been. It's good enough for me.1 point
-
It will likely be a lightning deal though, with a limit of one. This increases the chances significantly.1 point
-
At $500 this set will still be gone in seconds. A PM from other sites will be the only shot for many to get one. I have a feeling if it's only AMZ, I'll be out in the rain along with many others. I was hoping for $600 or $640, a 20/25% discount would last longer. I'd rather have a good shot at 25% than a prayer at 40%1 point

I don't think LEGO made a lot of those carousels. I made a purchase the first day they were available but my order went backorder by morning. By the time I received my order the carousel was missing. I called CS who sent me a nutcracker and a couple of polybags as compensation. NOT the same, but what can you do? Also doesn't say much for the nutcracker, which I thought was a pretty decent set for people who love nutcrackers, but apparently they still have those sitting around.1 point

LOLz if Disney Train goes for 30% off. That would suggest the sets is doing terribly. I'd certainly buy one for a personal build to go with the Disney Castle. I'll take Cloud City at 30% off with double VIP points and double-dip GWP....strictly to use as a Christmas day build with my kids (+ OT marathon). I'm staying away from PR. Costco Canada has been blowing these out for months and still has stock.1 point
-
They'll def hold higher with the higher buy in. The numbers so far aren't to high. Actually less than last few years.1 point
-
The Christmas Carousel from last year is selling for $50+ on Amazon. I just sold 2 this weekend. I don't remember the buy-in to get that, but it sure seems like a reasonable price for a GWP from just last year.1 point
-
Depends how many they make and how many times it comes back in the future. HP Diagonalley was a home run among many disappointing other promo sets.1 point

That looks more like a holiday gate since they aren't accepting applications. It should lift after the new year.1 point

I am just now selling my OFS's and Detective Offices. Nice appreciation for one year hold. Will roll proceeds in to this year's deals.1 point
