Like I said, it's just sour grapes that they didn't get them in hand before everyone else, bitterness that supply exceeds demand, and fear that if they hold them something else will suppress the market. Because otherwise they'd happily double their money and move on or quietly hold them for a rebound.

They get an immediate response of not accepted, try again. Some buyers feel like they can say "are you sure you don't want to accept my offer?", or want to state that "It isn't worth what you are asking for", others just want to try to beg, and plead "Please, it's for the orphans, or the handicapped vets, or we just had a house fire and all my babies LEGO were destroyed. Likely yes, but at that point you would have such a toxic transaction - that there would be no way that it would end well. You can not force a buyer (or seller) to complete a transaction. Yes, they may get a ding on their account, but trying to force a transaction will not end well. A seller is fairly helpless, so always proceed with some caution (and read the offers so it doesn't happen).

Not enough demand. The movie is “so so” and the Brickheadz theme seems to have average demand for the people shelling out $$. I think the public is still stuffed from too much LEGO since 2016. about 75% of mine have been bought by resellers so far. At least some folks think there is longer term value.

So you sell a Benny for $48 on Ebay with Free Shipping… That’s almost 5x what you paid at Target… You're rich… Should have bought 50+ sets… Then you Pay Target Redcard $10.27… (8.25% sales tax in my state) Then PayPal takes $1.69… Then USPS takes $3.96 for 1st Class Package Shipping… Then Ebay takes a $4.80 Final Value Fee And because you did a Three Day Auction (shipment received from Target on Thursday and wanted end date of Sunday) Ebay tacks on an extra $1 Special Duration Fee… You profit $26.28, a little over 2.5x your initial purchase price... That number gets lower when selling the $15 Walmart ones... Even lower when people aren't buying yours because someone else is giving them away at $35...

It looks like 10 of 16 sets are funded as of tonight. There's a little less than 2 months to go. Three others are basically 2/3rds of the way there. I'd call it a success, so far. I hope they can get everything out without a glitch so we can definitely call this a success. I'd love to see them run this program 1-2x a year. And hopefully, if this one is successful, it will attract some other people, so that the competition is even better, and the quality even better. Hope there's another one so you can submit @donbee

BHz are an Enigma compared to other Lego series...and the recent surprise of the Mice and LM2 "exclusives" have knocked more than a few resellers off their fences...the retirement rumors also has discounted BHz getting arm sweeped which gives the perception of becoming scarce.

the restrictions were that it had to be limited to the builder's palette on Studio 2.0 and limited to 2,000 piece total. I heard that the minifigure selection was very limited in the palette too. The total piece count of 2,000 probably eliminated the possibility of good modular buildings.

Yes they are supplying the bricks at cost. They also consulted on the approvals/feasibility. There is a “behind the scenes” video on BL that gives you a feel for their involvement. Bottom line - this is one of many experiments by TLG (such as Forma) to look for growth opportunities.

For those asking about motorising this model, I actually designed the model to be compatible with a power functions motor and battery box. See the attached image for some basic steps on how this conversion works. Disclaimer: This motor conversion has not been tested yet and so may need some tweaking to get it to work reliably, but I believe the basic concept is sound. Similar approaches have been proven to work by other builders on this new roller coaster track. If this model hits the crowdfunding target I will put together some instructions on how to do the motorised conversion and post them here. Thanks again everyone! Thanks for the advice! I have a Bricklink profile but have never sold anything there. I haven't shipped anything international either, other than eBay's GSP, which isn't really international for me.

Some additional info regarding packaging. @Admin Would you please provide more information on the packaging of these sets. Are they to be packed in sturdy cardboard boxes? Will they be illustrated and in color? Yes, they will be packed in sturdy cardboard. The exact nature of the boxes is not known yet, but they will be illustrated and identified by color photos and printing. These will not be "brown box basics", but will be something a collector would be proud to own. How will the parts be packed inside? All in one bag or several? We are separating parts by stage (sets have up to five stages) and the bags will be numbered by stage. Bags with small parts will be stored inside bags with large parts. Parts are separated into bags with the building process in mind. To give you an idea of scope, the Wild West Saloon is tentatively slated to be split into 16 different bags, with 2 stages. How will you ensure that the correct parts are included? Every bag will have an inventory, and every bag will be checked by weight and some other means before being sealed. Is LEGO doing the packing? No, we are doing it all in California. I can’t imagine they are all being hand picked! Yes, they will be packed very carefully by hand. There will be a few machines involved (a bag sealer, for example) but it will be largely manual labor. The setup costs for a mechanized run are out of our range. Lastly what form will the instructions be? A print out on copy paper or more like LEGO instructions? They will be professionally printed in four different sizes depending on the size of the set.

I have seen enough MOCs to recognize the similar feel to this one here yet the design could nicely enough be released as an official LEGO product. The price for what all you get is not too bad considering there have been significantly smaller custom kits available through various fan sites costing more than it would be to acquire everything separately and then some (such as a near two hundred piece vehicle listed at roughly $60). Typically rules limit creativity; however in many cases working within limitations can help bring out the best for a finely focused feature like this fort. The build is nice to look at while "generic" enough to fit with our own medieval monuments and possibly fun to play around having every area filled with fitting details over needlessly fancy fluff. Though the AFOL Designer Program may be in its infancy, the fan community (not to mention the selling platform of Bricklink) is far and well away from. Also the program could help elevate Bricklink into being more than simply a site to buy parts from. I have high hopes and support this project with every fiber of my being. Let the building begin....

BL will be packaging these, not Lego. Think of it more like a Certified Professional set. There may be a Lego logo somewhere on the box since they are actively supporting the project, but it won't look like a regular retail set. The difference between this and Ideas is scale. Lego's production lines are set up to make 10's of 1000's of the same set. These will only be made in a few hundred copies. So it's likely more cost effective to hand-pack them, than to shut down a large production line, change over the setup, and only run a tiny batch and change over again. I really like the idea of 'small batch designs' to broaden what's available to AFOLs to build. I've been creating custom sets for a while, and its a tremendous amount of work. I hope the program succeeds and we get annual waves of new designs.

If the packaging is nice (and includes Lego branding) and it's a "limited edition" then it will skyrocket on the secondary market. Shame Lego won't produce something like this under the Ideas banner though.
