Nope, dumpster diving is king. We learned that emazing trick a long time ago.

So after the first one came back as a bootleg, and was returned for a refund, I decided to go on a hunt for a real GG. Started typing anything and everything into eBay, at 2am while feeding the baby, and ended up misspelling "Grocery". A listing that had been sitting for a few days at $59.99 OBO. I low balled them (instantly regretted it with fears that someone else would randomly find this listing) and the offer was accepted within a few minutes. The next morning I looked at the advertisement and saw that it had been removed from eBay "This listing has been removed"... the seller account gone as well. Figured I really **** the bed this time around... listing gone, seller gone, and offer accepted at 2am.... Friday it arrived, missing a few pieces and all the figures... but it's genuine and fits in just fine.

I just got this interesting offer. I have a bin at $14 with best offer. I get an offer for $15 and was like wow, this person much be an idiot or scamming me. I get ready to quickly accept but read the message the buyer added "you pay shipping". Yeah No!

Wow, it's expensive to be superstitious.

Some lucky duck got Emmet #888 and sold it for $150 on eBay yesterday. I'm thinking he could've gotten $188 for it. I'm jealous.

I don't doubt that the skyline sets can be popular, but they hardly deserve the moniker of "Architecture." At best, they're a series of small monuments, and perhaps well known buildings, that inhabit a specific city. The scale is so small, it's difficult to bring out any interesting architectural detail. The very fact that you, and I, had never heard of, or seen, the Milwaukee Art Museum is all the more reason for it to be made into an Architecture set. If Architecture sets are limited to buildings with which most people are familiar, the line would devolve into the pit of boredom that it's largely become. Very likely, not many people had heard of the Robie House, or Farnsworth, or even Fallingwater, but they were great sets, architecturally interesting, and perhaps people actually learned something - if only from seeing them on a store shelf. I wish TLG had the guts to make a set like this, but perhaps an Ideas set can show them the way.

And that is why my lucky number is higher than 5000

Based upon the shipments I've received from Kmart / Sears, I think they're actually using up what boxes they have left because I have yet to receive a real box from them. More like two boxes taped (not very well) together.

you have people here who "invest" in lego - they buy 2 sets one to keep and one to sell. then you have people with quarters of millions of dollars invested . both parties are valid investors who have drastically different goals and outlooks. in the end, the biggest determinant in near term price action for a given LEGO set is the seller count. higher seller count = poorer near term performance. although there are only 5000 of each bh made in this series, in the near term there are waaaaay more sellers than usual for something this rare. once the casual mom and pop investors have their day in the sun and the seller count declines, patience will be rewarded by nonlinear exponential price appreciation . everyone who invested in this set will be a winner. some will win much much more than others.

This is the exact type of set the Architecture line should be moving towards. Not those stupid skyline sets.

They should've done molded heads, a la The Simpsons figures. Probably the fact that this is an Ideas set precluded new molds, but I hate that rule (if it is a rule).

Me sitting on 10 10188 Death Stars. Guaranteed money, classic set, never do one like this again. Like sitting on free profit. Even if you have never seen or heard of the Milwaukee Art Museum this is a striking piece of Lego art. I just wonder how structurally sound it is. The model looks like a CGI render rather than a hand built set.

Who's complaining? This one who really meant that they wish they got their sets processed and delivered earlier. Or should be complaining that there isn't enough demand to scoop up the lowball sets rapidly enough for the market to inflate again. Because they can either accept rapidly doubling their money for little work or they can take on the risk of holding them for a bigger return later. Whinging about grabbing the short stick is pointless.

Same here. Sold two sets and made back my initial outlay to please the wife. I told her I was done with reselling Lego a year ago so me buying these surprised her. I have four complete sets plus an extra Emmet and Wyldstyle left that will be gravy when I decide to sell them. Wish I bought more but am happy with what I was able to buy.

I think Skyline Sets are perfect, they maybe lack in detail, but if they stick to big cities/capitals, there will always a huge demand from normal people. The building here might be nice, but I guess only a few people know that, which translate into fewer sales.

This concept is more or less turning a physical LEGO build into a virtual hidden object game while maintaining interactivity through both fronts. Neat. At the very least, the sets look fun on their own with perhaps a pinch of Scooby-Doo silliness.

At this point they could very well have been but unfortunately no way available to truly know really. I remember years ago suddenly finding the Mr. Gold map LEGO had was taken down or simply disappeared which was only as good as the persons whom actually registered their minifigure but better than nothing for a general guide. I would imagine a handful of Mr. Golds are still sealed locked away in someone's nest egg of a vault somewhere. You're right, there's nothing wrong with wanting that. Whining about, complaining about, and putting down people who decided to sell for less... I'd say there IS something wrong with that. Competing with other sellers is part of the game, and if you didn't factor that into your original plans, then you're playing the game wrong. Why are you assuming that everyone who is selling one for <$45 is "in the business of long term investment of Legos [sic]"? It's certainly possible that many of those sellers simply bought one for themselves (or their kid) and grabbed a second one to quick flip. And to clarify, *I* wasn't complaining about having to sell low because of thin cash. I was just proposing several reasons why someone might be selling for less than you think they should. In fact, one reason I recently sold one for <$45 (to a nice lady who asked) is because I DON'T really need that extra few bucks, so I said sure, I'll be nice. I do think this situation is different from most Lego investment because they were only available for so short a time, and the whole reason some people are trying to buy on ebay is because most of the stock was bought up within hours by investors. If someone just didn't buy a set when it was available for months or years, and now it's not available and they want it, I have no qualms charging them an arm and a leg. And I'm fine if you want to charge 10x for this - do whatever you want. And I'll do whatever I want. But I admit, with this unique situation, I do have a little more mercy for some people who want them. It could have been me, if I'd had work meetings during those few hours. And the more people b**ch about people selling them low, makes a part of me want to sell them low just to piss you off.

Found a good bargain on some local used sets... I figured they wanted $10 each but nope, $5 each... have only gone through the SW set so far, it was missing instructions and like 8 minor pieces. For those asking about motorising this model, I actually designed the model to be compatible with a power functions motor and battery box. See the attached image for some basic steps on how this conversion works. Disclaimer: This motor conversion has not been tested yet and so may need some tweaking to get it to work reliably, but I believe the basic concept is sound. Similar approaches have been proven to work by other builders on this new roller coaster track. Hidden Site implies a single location, a single thing, or in LEGO sense a single set. Hidden Side sounds more like an alternate layer of reality, which seems more fitting, and can apply to a theme of sets.

I doubt he has any idea of the figures existence. He just wanted me to show him a picture of the sealed bags to prove the set wasn't used. The C-3PO was just a happy accident that he did not get when he picked up the 7663.

Sold a sealed 7663 Sith Infiltrator on OfferUp. Just trying to move some old turds. Buyer asked me to open it and send him a picture of the contents. It had been sitting on Bricklink forever, so I figured I would crack it open for the chance to unload it. Grateful the buyer asked me to open it, because this was inside: To think, this has been sitting on a shelf in my basement for nearly a decade. Nearly gave it away in a $25 infiltrator.

Happiness is.......when you buy a massive LEGO lot that you that was a great deal to start with, but then get home to discover there is a GG, CC, MS, AND MARINA BAY SANDS hidden within the boxes (all used). Needless to say, my back is sore from all of the cartwheels I was doing last night. My kids thought I was insane!! Good stuff......

Sold a Brickheadz movie set yesterday with free shipping and an international buyer bought it using eBay's GSP feature. I got an email that said "+ $44.12 shipping". Is that how much the buyer is paying for shipping? Wow! eBay is gouging international buyers through their GSP.
