On vacation, passed by a B&N, mentioned a sale, got the death stare, kept on driving.6 points

you should really do your research before you make recommendations. there are were a ton of sets already sold out at shop at home, amazon, target, walmart that you can pick up with this deal and already sell for at least 2x your purchase price depending on where you sell. not that you would sell them yet but this just helps indicate which sets are going to be winners. discount relative to msrp is mute if the set is sold out at shop at home and its going for more than msrp already. no one's going to say which sets to get because this is a competition and its hoarding time. look up stuff that is 3p only on amazon and if its sold out or call to check at shop at home and selling for 2x or greater the price fba? no hestitation. or if seller count is unusually low, also time to swoop. sure prices will fall back to earth post holidaze a little but still indicator of what someone is willing to pay immediately post EOL. the retirement list has been published. the sets are sold out indicating retirement at multiple countries shop at home websites. they just don't put the retiring soon tags up here in the united states to tip off the reseller scum (who don't think to look at other countries websites to see what's retiring). there are no more mysteries here. if you want to invest, this is it. not as good as target's gift card deal which stacked with discounted sets and buying gift cards with free gift cards but the trains are leaving the station. people will be F5'ing guggenheim and eiffel tower and high fiving each other for paying msrp in a month. just like brick bank spent weeks where you could easily score them for $145 even after ravenb99's ingenious riddle revealed this to be an early retirement and now we are high fiving for msrp. current bn deal on ET is acceptable but not as good as $20.99 on the eiffel tower which you could order for 3 days at that price with the target gift card deal. think walmart had them for $19.99 but i haven't gotten an order to go through from there in some time.4 points

Thanks to you both. I just checked and double checked. Everything appears to be there. 17 sealed bags, sticker sheet, and two manuals. Box isn't in great shape and the seller deceptively angled one end away from any sort of clarity in the original listing. But it's all here apparently and intact.3 points

So on the B&N stuff... went to 5 different stores today, noticed that they had a deal for get a $10 gift card with every $100 gift card purchased. Bought my hundred dollar gift cards then used those to pay for my architecture sets. I paired Chicago with ET to come to 74.98 pre Bogota discount and talked them into giving me a HP promo with each one of those. Came out to $54.77 after tax with membership discount and HP promo. Walked away with 11 HP promos and 6x $10 gift cards.3 points

Please hold onto this one, sell it for 2x original price (-$5) and use that to buy a wifi printer.2 points

I wouldn't worry about that. If you want, you could try and get some credit from Amazon. After receiving various box conditions from Amazon I don't even worry about it anymore. Just note it when you sell, you may need to knock $5 off the going rate, but you shouldn't have an issue moving it. You could sell it without the box to save on some shipping cost, but if it's still sealed, I'd leave it that way.2 points

My $600 MF from Walmart has just arrived ... !! They cancelled all my previous orders and this got shipped .. I forgive you Walmart....2 points

No threats of bags full of used dildos for me (where would you even get that?), but it has been a very profitable year. I almost doubled my sales from last year and blew way past what I had originally projected for the year. Got all of my debt paid off and will be starting 2019 with a big pile of inventory. This is why I laugh when I read so many of the gloom-and-doomers here talk about how the sky is falling, how we are in the end times of Lego reselling, blah, blah, blah.2 points

Considering both of those sets are Out of Stock or Call to Check, and both are near $50 already on Amazon, $60-is for both isn't too bad alone and then you get $30-40 back from the HP pack. You might be hard to please if $100 from $30 in instant flip needs a warning. ? We all have different strategies though.1 point

nope.. tried with a lego city set and an old Dr. Who Idea set. They had to get a manager to override it since I pointed out the set was not on the excluded list.1 point

Idiots who think they are buying an entire series of CMF for $9.00 then call you a scammer when they figure it is only one figure per bag .1 point

Working out a deal with a buyer on Facebook Marketplace to sell three City volcano sets to a mother for her son that were combined Christmas/birthday gifts. I did not make as much money as I wanted but hearing her say thank you and the look of joy on her face was worth so much more than what I made. Selling two Chima sets (yes, I said Chima sets) on Facebook Marketplace for a slight loss that I bought for my kids that they never opened. Sometimes it is better just to unload sets so as not have to look at them anymore. And as I have mentioned before, messages like the one I got on November 29 on BrickLink after working with a customer on the sale of a 41179 Queen's Dragon Rescue set: "Thank you so much for your quick responses and smooth transaction. This is my first order through BrickLink. My daughter will be so thrilled to get this dragon under the Christmas tree this year! She has been asking for it for a very long time. I was crushed when I discovered it was retired. But I am so thankful to have found BrickLink. Thank you again! Have a wonderful holiday season! And thank you for the shipping refund. That was very kind of you!"1 point

If you need a SW fix this holiday season. This low budget fan film feels more like SW than TLJ1 point

Best: 21125 Jungle Tree House - 18 sold @ $140 eBay avg buy-in was $34 Worst: 41182 Capture of Sophie Jones - 0 sold and took down listing 2x top line sales compared to 2017. Net margin after fees/shipping/supplies was 170.12% - a 28% increase compared to previous year. Some fun data: averaged 3 min 39 seconds per package. This was printing/cutting shipping slip, retrieving set from stash, identifying right size box, and packing everything up.. Last year I used proceeds towards new master closet buildout, conversion to salt water pool, wife's $1800 gym membership, and all Xmas gifts. This year proceeds will pay for 4 RT tix & beachfront house in Turks & Caicos, kids play room makeover with big screen TV, Nintendo Switch, couches/gaming chairs, 7' air hockey table & other toys. Hoping 2019 will be enough for 1 bed/1 bath home addition. Really not up to me. It's all in the hands of the Farm Cottages now.1 point

There are at least 12 scheduled for release in 2019. #78 & #79 are Homer and Krusty. #80, the first unreleased set, is Dragon Dance Guy. #92 is the Birthday Clown.1 point

go ahead and buy it losers - this thing will make it to 50% off easily on12/26. its comical how many of these are still at like every store. i'm also expecting to harvest greatly all the poorly placed elves technic and architecture stock that is tucked in the back corner of the books and collectibles sections at target where nobody goes to find lego.1 point
-
Brick bank was double this morning on amz. All this stock today dropped 3rd party price below 300. Likely most of todays stock went to resellers. Maybe lego brings it back after the demand today, who knows....1 point

2018 is for me the year of my farewell to KMart. They will not survive long into 2019 (next court hearing is tomorrow, but unlikely Chapter 7 will be announced there and then, rather likely they will continue on with bids and wrap things up end January). Some KMart highlights of 2018: - I perfected my "Free LEGO" strategy, developed in 2017, and got an average discount of 85% across my LEGO purchases from them. - Even without using points, I found some great deals at KMart - $2 Constractibles, $5 Ninjago Vermillion Raider and Destiny's Shadows for example. - Most of what I picked up was already retired, or very advanced in "the dance", which meant I could flip my purchases almost instantly. - The points back went crazy for a while ($50 back on $50, $75 back on $75, $300 back on $300). - SYW Sweeps was a money-printing machine for a while - $2-$4 per day, $20-$40 per week including bonus winnings. Unfortunately, it's all drying up now. Sweeps pay out very little ($0.10-$0.25 per day), cashback offers have dried up, and store inventory is not being replenished. Adios KMart!1 point
