  1. UPDATE! So I received a call from my insurance company the other day. The police arrested a guy for breaking & entering, and when they searched his property, they found "a lot of Lego sets". One detective was having lunch with my detective and casually mentioned the find, and he remembered my case from 2016 and they interrogated the suspect. He totally admitted meeting me on Craigslist, bought a few sets from me, and then came back to my warehouse to commit the robbery. He was able to back a cargo truck up to the loading door and spend several hours loading up. The replacement value at the time was $39k. I am so relieved they caught the guy, and now I'm waiting to hear from the police so I can go see what is left from the theft (they say there is A LOT). Next step will be to strike a deal with the insurance company to purchase everything back (at a salvage rate of course). They are willing to give me the right of refusal so I can recover all or some of it. I'll update once I see what is left and what we can work out. Just a reminder to everyone who can learn from my ignorance & innocence: never let anyone into the inner sanctum. Since the theft, we treat the warehouse like Willy Wonka's factory : no comes in, no one goes out. We even have a visual barrier separating the storeroom area from being seen by UPS and FedEx drivers. As far as Craigslist goes, I've only tried to sell a handful of larger items (new MF for example) with the stipulation that the transaction takes place at the local police department, and I haven't had a taker yet.

  2. All of this bickering reminds me of the 50% off LEGO Shop at Home B-Wing sale from many years ago. It's amazing how a great sale can bring out the saltiness in some people. Update to my order status...I ordered 0 AS and 0 DS because I missed the sale due to work. None have shipped so far. Life goes on. There will be other sales in the future.

  4. I had 6 Assembly Squares show up from Target yesterday. Sold 6 already and cleared about $200 each. They never even hit my storage area, nice.

  5. Ladies and gentlemen, watch out when selling these Target price error sets. Your soul is on the line... if you still have one of course.

  6. Just picked up my first shipment of AS at my high security location (mom's house..she's retired, so home most of the time). Ran out of room for the DBs and OMs. Also received notice of store pick ups ready.....had to deal with my 9 year old son saying "you worried about your precious little boxes dad...you worried?" As we drove over to pick them up. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  7. Welcome to the Grid folks. The designers were in their early 20ties or so. Nice blokes tho. I had to wait in queue about 2h to get this set signed. Masses of people were hoarding like crazy. The old fishing store hasn't received such recognition like this set hands down. This might be an indicator for TLG in the future... Oh - it's my 1000 post here, anniversary time

  8. The Death Stars have landed. Nice to see the shipping box is not the actual LEGO box as alluded to by Target.

  13. Please don’t just throw random numbers and posts just for the sake of it . A reputable member would like to buy a house and you can cause serious damage to his selling efforts . Thanks

  15. So far I have already received 1 AS. The DS's are to arrive today. I missed out on the "Great Amazon Lego Heist of 2017"......But thanks to the OP "drshdw"for sharing ! Thank you. Funny story..... I had some #2 business to take care of that morning and decided to read my emails and the most recent one was "drshdw" OP. I quickly opened my target app and placed my orders. This was all possible with today's technology, brickpicker forum alerts and all those who post deals. Where are the most bizarre places you have all been when placing orders for a Lego deal ??? Maybe this topic will make it on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon !!

  18. you can get $240-250 with boxes much worse than those pictured above on ebay all day long in that condition with pics. You could even open them spread the sealed bags out and still get close to that. sealed decent to mint boxes pull 255-275 and sell frequently sure they might drop a hair with a glut hitting this week but it sells fine if you want to sell now

  21. I see a lot of similar posts on Facebook, something like "I know how much these have been selling for so don't try to gouge me." it makes me wonder what the incentive is for anyone to sell something to them for exactly as much as they got it for and losing money due to fees.

  23. Great to hear of a possible happy ending here. The rule about no eyes on the goods is one that I have shared forever. I do not allow anyone I don't know into my home to see what I own Lego-wise. I will have CL folks say they want to stop by and I explain that that is a no-go and that I will meet them in public. My fear is the same, that someone will break in looking for Lego that they know is there and much worse outcomes could then occur with it being my home vs. a storage locker that does not have family inside(at least it shouldn't ?). I don't really like having service individuals in the house and see the sets on display but don't have much choice with HVAC and such. It's probably very paranoid but stories like this validate the paranoia. Again, happy for you that this could have a happy ending.

  28. Opened my 5000 piece box this afternoon with my daughter filming. She is camera shy now. I will get that uploaded soon. Here is a still until I am home from work. Nice selection Ed, I have always regretted selling my last B-Wing, and I accidentally sold my last Research Institute. I especially love the chrome trooper and the Coruscant planet. The Ewok's remind me of when my boys loved Lego, it is great to have it. My daughter really wants the Falcon, so now I have her birthday covered. Thanks again.

  29. You guys can all take a sigh of relief and sleep well tonight. I just picked up my order from Target and am now in the possession of 1 minty fresh 10255 Assembly Square. Thanks all for the well-wishes, the prayers, the crossed fingers and the fruitbaskets. It worked.

  31. I provided them an inventory list (from Brickfolio actually) that we then had to enter into an online content collaboration program. They didn't ask for receipts, but I did have photos of the inventory from just a few weeks before and I think that went a long way. They did mention when we were finalizing my claim payment that normally they would require receipts to show proof of purchase.

  43. It's hard for me to believe. Obviously, financially it was easy to see coming. But I'm sorta awe-struck in a sad way. Like you just never thought it would not be there. Toys R Us just is. It's like as a little kid watching reruns of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and then finding out that he had died. Or, as I can say first hand, losing a grandparent. Obviously, it's two very different things, and losing a cherished family member is much more somber than a company shutting down, but still. Sometimes I get really sad when I think about my grandparents that have died in the last few years. When I'm in a store, and melancholically remember to myself "Hey, just a year ago I was walking right through this very aisle with grandma." Or driving by their houses and knowing they're not there. It's hard to take in. There's that lack of control, that you can't do anything about it. And I'm sure in years future, seeing those old abandoned store buildings, or that have been converted into something else, and all the empty parking lots will be hard to take in. I've gotten those same feelings with K-Mart. It's nostalgic. K-Mart was magic to me in my early childhood, before we got a Wal Mart in my small town. It was the only big, non dollar-store type store we had. The Little Caesar's pizza place we had in it and doing the coloring sheets on the tables. Those early-mid 2000's LEGO's on the shelves. 5 y/o me riding around in the cart with one of those big plush character pillows I had grabbed off the shelf. Putting stuff on Layaway with my grandma. And then my K-Mart shut down about 2 years ago now. And she died around the same time. And every time I drive by it, and see the imprint of the removed K on the building, it makes me sad. I'd like to go into a K-Mart again sometime before the last ones close down. The nearest one's about an hour and a half away but I'd make it just for the experience. We didn't have a Toys R Us in my town. The closest was in the city about 2 hours away. So, about once a year we'd go into the city for some big outing or shopping trip and stop by. It was so exotic to me, like Disney World. A whole store instead of just a few aisles. And alot of the really big $200+ sets that I'd only ever seen in shop at home catalogs. And now to think in the near future, that'll all be gone. Abandoned buildings where children once ran though the aisles. And one of them was me. It makes me sad. Something that always was there growing up just isn't any more. I feel the same way about K-Mart, about my grandma, about Robin Williams, and now Toys R Us. I just hope we don't lose Chuck E Cheese anytime soon. I don't think my childhood could take it.

  44. When the big bucks come around in the Fall, I’ve been telling myself recently we need to tromp around the woods in the Spring to see if we can recover some antlers after the males shed them off. We were very very lucky today, we found a very nice set in the yard about 15 ft apart. 13 point and very close to a 14 point buck.
