I asked the live chat-based CS about the very same thing, the rep said that this was their lingo for an online order going to the warehouse to be fulfilled. I guess it's just different terms for the process than what we might be used to with LEGO SAH, for example. She indicated that the estimated delivery window should still be valid. I worried that they were waiting for the vendor to fulfill the inventory so that they could ship it out. I'll keep holding my breath until I actually get a shipping confirmation. I did complain once to CS about losing $50 of rewards dollars on an order that they cancelled and she gave me $100 as an apology. Of course, that assumes that there would be anything left to use them on or anyone available to help. Might be cyclical. If Amazon benefits from other brick & mortar businesses being their showroom, then when they disappear and the cost of business goes up because of all of the free returns or free returns goes away, I can imagine a market opportunity for "catalog showrooms" and try-before-you-buy opportunities to make a comeback, especially as one-day or same-day delivery gets perfected. Also, as the brick & mortars go away, the loss of revenue will drive governments to find ways of taxing e-commerce and warehouses more and more, as that cost goes up, a brick-and-mortar might become viable again. Will probably also make a difference how much revenue is lost through credit card fraud versus shoplifting + credit card fraud at a physical store.

Since I started rolling up with my own cart and boxes I've had multiple people ask me what aisle the ________ s are in as if I work there. And a few days ago I had about 60 sets loaded up and asked an employee if she had any more in back... In the cockpit sits Chewbacca, C-3P0, R2-D2, and all the porgs. 3P0 orders R2 to go inform General Organa that they have arrived at their destination at said regurgitated/recycled planet. R2 whistles back at 3P0 as he rolls to the back of the ship. Just as 3P0 makes contact with the planet, several First Order Star Destroyers appear out of lightspeed and immediately bombard the Falcon in a hail of fire. Chewbacca roars, 3P0 shouts "Oh Dear!", Porgs cry out, as the Falcon is completely blown away by the First Order. Aboard the Star Destroyer, a satisfied General Hux watches the remains of the Falcon begin to burn in the planets atmosphere.................Sitting in thousands of theaters everywhere, millions of longtime fans will forever mourn but, for the next two hours will rejoice that what remained of our beloved ill-used/under-used/unused characters will not be in a terrible movie and the destruction of the Falcon insures it will not fall into the hands of unworthy, substandard characters. I apologize for the spoiler however, only "A" to "IX" in the above is the only thing I know will happen. Also, I do not consider porgs a beloved character, I found them to be as useful as Jar Jar.

Being from the rural mid-west, I have trouble computing the ability to wake up and stroll down to Times Square to take a look.

I agree...Service Merchandise will make a comeback. One day when Amazon falters, people will say, "Consumers want to see, hold and touch products before they buy! Amazon didn't figure that out."

This company just doesn't seem to get it. Anytime I go into a Toys R Us and I see things there that aren't in other store locations, you can bet 99% of the time, I can pull up target.com, walmart.com or toys r us.com on my phone, and find it cheaper online. I then have to go to the dang register and price match it. The Toy's R Us tax is a big time hindrance, and they never seemed to get this. This is why most mom and shop stops will go under as well if they either 1. don't sell online too to supplement their business income 2. don't try to compete with the free market (which is now a big influence online). Because of their stupidity by forcing the "toys r' us" tax, even a 7 year old like my son knows that he can spend his money on amazon, even if he has to wait, and he will still have more money to spend, then if he bought the same item at TRU. It's sad to watch them go, but on the same token they were their own undoing.

This was at my local Toys R Us today: It’s like a bad case of denial.

I just want the Millennium Falcon to be destroyed so we can stop getting remakes. I never really liked the ship anyway. Not symmetrical.

What I did for the batman figs was buy blind packs from Ebay. I average $2.5 per pack. Had some issues completing a couple sets but I just trade for the ones I need. Probably will do this for this series unless I can get a box for a good price. Buying a box and not getting the police fig is a deal breaker.

Hate? If anything, the opposite. There's literally an A-Wing remake every couple of years now from Lego. I think we've had three in the last 4 years (albeit not UCS). They probably feel that given the size of the ship, a systems set is a better place for it. The UCS Jedi Star Fighter a few years ago, didn't do all that well and they may well be thinking that this would be how a UCS A-Wing would be received. If you desperately want a UCS U-Wing, Anio's MOC is a great example. Can be bricklinked for about £250 all in. Maybe for the 50th anniversary release.

I don't think it helps that many of the ship designs are fairly poor facsimiles of those from the original trilogy, or that when they do deviate they don't seem to be very compelling vs. the designs from the prequels. The Disney movies have essentially copied the X-Wing, TIE Fighter and Star Destroyer designs, and just tweaked them slightly. SDs in particular grow to ever-more-ridiculous dimensions while keeping the same fundamental shape. Both Kylo's and Krennic's shuttles, although not bad designs, are essentially variations on the shuttle first seen in ROTJ (three wings, two of which fold-up). Even if LEGO weren't making too many sets (which they obviously are) how many variants of the same thing can someone be compelled to buy? As regards the new ships, I think Rogue One's have fared the best -- I really like the U-Wing, and the stolen Imperial shuttle was pretty cool (strange that they haven't released a set of that). The less said about the forgettable resistance ship in TFA, and TLJ's bomber and skimmer, the better.

So when I bought my tickets and shared with the family that we could win a prize of 5000 Legos, I got a look of pure joy and a look of terror (where will we put all those Legos)! Ah we are just a year into collecting/playing with Legos and it's been such fun for all . . . Reminding me of growing up, but I miss the old school windows. Much to my son’s dismay, my wife built 60146 - Stunt Truck today. He got a few steps in and took a break. She sat down and next thing we knew she was done.

my family is really bummed about it. we enjoy going to our toys r us all the time. it is fun for us. I agree with the news reports saying that 10 to 15 percent of sales will never come back. I think it may be more. The ability to browse and shop for toys at Walmart target and other places is just not the same. the fact is without Mattel and hasbro having toys r us as a physical place everyone can see all the toys the toy industry is going to suffer. it is already suffering when you look at Star Wars toy sales for example unrelated to toys r us. yes many toys will be bought online but people will not go window shopping to find every hasbro Mattel or lego set online that they would in store. it is a sad day for the toy industry. I think this only helps cement the loss of toy sales in general on a permanent basis to the new digital age where children don't even want as many toys. those who wish toys r us would go may in fact regret if it does. with Walmart limiting purchases target banning resellers and toys r us disappearing the options for acquiring significant inventory also becomes more difficult you may have a different opinion thats fine ..... this is mine ..... very sad about what is to happen

I know you're just a cynical reseller but the toy store experience is about to die with TRU going under. Yes, there will be the small mom and pop shops that specialize in Melissa and Doug stuff but they in no way can re-create the epic size and ambiance. As a kid my toy store of choice was "Toy Chest". It was a slightly smaller variation of TRU or Children's Palace but it had the same smell and ambiance. I vividly remember it and and will never forget it.

I am assuming this is the show and tell section or the bragging section...lol, so there I go................. I am SO excited to share this with you guys !! I found this auction on eBay with a starting bid of $49.99 (reserve not met) (no bids) and a make offer option, Local pickup only =( I emailed the seller and they wanted to get $400 for them. They ended up agreeing to sell them to me for $200 ship to me for $36 shipping ! We have received them all and assembled them. I can not get over how immaculate they all are ! They were hers during childhood and guaranteed me that she took great care of all her things growing up ! Besides a little dust. They look brand new and all the boxes are intact and only a few creases and a little tear here or there. All the pieces are there ! Even the little gold coins and feathers for the hats. All the instructions are perfect and they even have posters that have not even been unfolded in them ! I feel very fortunate to get a hold of these and will enjoy displaying them =)

Here is a 6 month update for those that were curious. The ship has weathered quite nicely. The only thing I'm worried about is the sails, they look great now, but I don't know about long term. It has not been a maintenance nightmare, as a matter of fact, our cleaner fish and snails do an excellent job!! We get more comments on this display than any of our other displays....people love it!!! I'll post a one year update just for sh*ts and giggles.

By the time the sets are in resellers hands, LEGO has made their money. We've talked at great length about his before .. whether LEGO likes resellers or not, whether scarcity of product is good for their image or not, whether higher secondary market prices allow them to raise their prices. etc. In the end, we just don't know but love to speculate. As for the Taj Mahal, is it being unhappy with scarce sets or was someone thinking - you know, we've had a down year and had to let some people go.. We just don't have the time or money to do new designs for every market segment we're trying to reach... what if we re-release a popular but rare set? A few die hard collectors will be upset but we'll be making a larger part of the market happy. Less design time, update the packaging a little, boom, easy money. Or did they say - let's make people happy and release a set from our vault no matter whether we make money on it or not! (I know that's dramatic, but in the end they do this to make money...) Just look at the death star fiasco... giving it a new number and making some extremely minor cosmetic changes blew up in their face PR wise. Sure people are buying it because who doesn't want a death star, but it was not the happy reception they expected. People -rightly so IMO- saw it as a money grab. I know minifigs aren't that kind of money grab, but its one of the only things they could get away with in the "mystery loot" schemes - which companies do to make money. Who'd buy a box of random lego blocks unsure if it built a car or a boat. The average buyer doesn't give up and just go to ebay... it's part of the attraction to "just one more time." It's addictive just like gambling (no, I'm not saying LEGO is gambling). I honestly think LEGO likely approaches it this way: it's fun and will make us more money. People can't just buy the one they like but they'll have fun trying to find it. I'm pretty good at smooshing the bags (smooshing is the technical term for feeling up the bags) but it's time consuming.. it would be a lot more fun to just buy them blindly. Given the odds of finding the CMF(s) you want in a retail store vs some of those online games (gachas), the odds are pretty good... And there have been some well documented cases of companies making the rare items even rarer than advertised - LEGO doesn't do that. In fact, by shipping them in cases of 60, the true distribution becomes known very quickly vs companies that do not disclose the rates at all. To me that shows two things .. 1) they do care about customers and 2) they know this is good enough to make their money on them.
