Amazon hardly makes a profit, despite paying almost no taxes (at least not in the US), and yet he’s making billions? If I were an Amazon stock holder, I’d be getting pissed. When/if Amazon crashes, he’s not gonna go down with the ship. He’ll be the guy in the helicopter waving to his loyal crew as they sink to the bottom of the abyss.3 points

Raffles never qualify as a donations for tax purposes. You could use it as a gambling loss if you have other winnings, and you don't win this raffle!2 points

NO they don't pay enough taxes. Without a hugely progressive tax structure the only mathematical end game in a finite universe is huge corporations and a few controlling individuals with all and a serf class of workers unable to afford basic necessities. Income inequality hurts democracy.2 points
-
What is astounding is that so many of the working population (Amazon and Walmart, etc employees) earn hardly subsistence wages such that they require negative taxes just to exist. The percentages quoted above are nothing more than the result of astounding income inequality.2 points

People, don't believe the lies. Income taxes are paid on income, capital gains on capital gains. Tax planning is what everyone does if they are paying attention. Do you think the gates foundation is all about philanthropy? No it is both deductible and "estate tax free", same goes for buffet. They all are the biggest hypocrites. The top 15% in the USA, which starts at 250k pay 85% off all taxes, with the top 1% paying the majority. You go thorough half of the us working population, before one dollar of tax is paid. That is astounding.2 points

If i’m reading @waddamon posts correctly (big “if”) , i think i’m in agreement with him. Plus tax planning is big business for the rich to keep as much as possible since they are paying the vast majority of everything Uncle Sam collects .1 point

Well, if they talked about reducing inventories in their annual report, this is the perfect place to start. Absolutely no one wants these (except for resellers if they are 80% off) and there should be some sort of change.org campaign to get them renamed as they are as close to Lego as chewing gum is. 2018 is looking like a great year if we lose SH Girls, Nexo, SW Buildables, TLBM and we get HP and Jurassic instead.1 point

Was talking to the Local Toys R Us supervisor, big sell off is the end of March ,Which makes sense to me as the Tax man will really hammer them if they are caught holding a pile of stock and HRMC are going to be first in the queue for payment. Also said stock has been shipped out to some stores from warehouses but could not say if Lego was included. Workers deserved better.1 point

This is the first CMF series in quite some time that may actually be worth investing in a bit...so long as TLG doesn't terribly overproduce it. I think the policeman, and several other figures will do well in the long run, and I think full sets of 17 will be in demand as well. I'm considering going fairly deep on this series - particularly if I can snag figures during a TRU 2 for $5 sale, or something similar. I'll be curious to see the initial price for the policeman on the secondary market.1 point

Amazon and Walmart have destroyed local business and local micro economies, they pay wages such that their employees require government assistance, surreptitiously increase consumers carbon footprint and facilitate grossly negligent income inequality which is then used to lobby government for further scale tipping and environmental degradation rather than supporting small owner run businesses and cleaning this dump of a planet up. Good riddance.1 point

Farmers, ranchers, dairy men, doctors, engineers, contractors, miners, oilmen, manufacturers, consultants, attorneys. Don't think those suck and all small business owners making it happen. But back to bezos, when the 30 year is 6 percent I project he's toast or Amazon as we know it.1 point

No they don’t. Taxes have been at historic lows for decades. They need to be raised to bring the deficits under control and payoff the long term debt. Any other answer is just kicking the can.1 point

They are very different but the problem is that you can get confused when looking at all of them as used colors because some will be instantly obvious and others not so because of fading and discoloring. Get a white piece of paper, find some of each color new/used you’re 100% sure of and then use that as your guide. Also, there are very few sets that were released in each shade as LEGO made the transition and it’s usually extremely important to get it right.1 point
-
You'll soon see just how annoying and frustrating it can be - After a while, you might find yourself second guessing shades, and spending an hour (or more) searching the house for a 2 cent piece.1 point

None of my Shop Your Way sweeps points have posted from this morning. Is anybody else seeing this? I have seen it take a while before but I can't recall it taking this long. EDIT: Of course, 5 minutes after I post this the points start flowing ..... SMH.1 point

Is there anyone looking to get these things in bulk that doesn't have a store near them? Maybe we could work out a deal. I cannot guarantee set availability, but I could probably get 40-50 at a time of whatever assortment is currently in the store. It would have to be a take what I can find type of thing. I'm not going to scour the city for only specific characters to make $1 profit a set. But I will try to help out people feeling a bit left out. By my math, if I charge $3.25 a set, after taxes and fees, I would take almost $1 per set. I'm not going to sell 1 or even 10 sets like this, since the time isn't worth the gain. Sorry if this sounds a little mercenary, but this is a site about making money from LEGO.1 point

Sorry for the double post but I had to skim those pictures down a little :-) So this is only some part of my collection (maybe obviously) but a part worth to be displayed and shared. First up we got the Christmas decoration. It's still out and I got to change that soon but it's sooo cold outside that it's still somewhat fitting. Secondly my first modular street. It counts 4 modulars now so it can be called a street :-) There's also a lot going on inside of the buildings and behind the buildings but sadly I'm not able to display all of it. Hope you enjoy it.1 point

As promised latest update. Moorfields said discounts of up to 25% were now available on all products at Toys R Us and stock levels were high. "Some stores in the portfolio may be subject to closure in the coming days, and so customers are encouraged to take advantage of the heavy discounting as soon as possible," the administrator said. It added that gift cards and vouchers would continue to be honored while stores continue to trade, and confirmed that deposits paid by customers under Take Time To Pay agreements for larger purchases would also be honoured. Dont get too excited its only 10 per cent off Lego products have already checked with all my locals, the stores closing soon are the ones already earmarked for closure which have no Lego anyway.1 point

Yeah, I'm seeing the same thing. And it's not the regular joe buying these up IMO. The 1.99 price tag is warding off the gen public from buying up 5 to 10 at a time like last year. Not driving as much this year to come across most of these packs. The problem is knowing which packs to load up on the moment you see them, since SOME of them disappear after one or two shipments...ie slimer, doc brown, ET1 point
