  2. She didn't know but she said "I really can't see this retiring" as it's been a great set for them but then she also said the "Machine can only mould so many parts". My guess is the Saturn and the Falcon will probably just be hard to get hold of for a while whilst they both fight over each others parts. I guess it depends how well the UCS Falcon sells and if the demand for that is high then the Saturn V will suffer.

  3. Probably the result of outsourcing basic IT tasks to third world countries, as is usually the case. Cheap labor is cheap result.

  6. Quite true. Lego Ideas doesn't follow the 'regular' rules for Lego set retirement. Starting with the Ideas 213xx series, these are the production (availability) times: 21301 Birds: 11 months 21302 TBBT: 16 months 21303 WALL-E: 16 months 21304 Doctor Who: 13 months 21305 Maze: 8 months (due to being a poor seller) 21306 Yellow Submarine: 14 months 21307 Caterham Seven: 15 months 21308 Adventure Time: 12 months (Retired in Europe due to being a poor seller, still available in USA) That's an average of 13 months of availability. Considering that Saturn V is now available for 7 months, and it's a beast of a seller, it would be unlikely that this set is already retiring now. But ... production problems and possible distribution issues (at least here in Europe) could mean an unexpected early retirement. Still, I do not expect Saturn V to be on the brink of retirement already.

  7. Finally got around to building 70615 Fire Mech. For me it was a must-buy since I saw the first picture of it leaking. So I really was anticipating the build. To make it short: the set didn't disappoint, in fact it's awesome. The mech is quite big, definitely not feeling small at all. The poseability is good enough for my liking. The only critique I have would be the amount of stickers in the set, especially a few larger ones which are more difficult to apply in my opinion. For the picture I mixed in some 70607 Ninjago City Chase as background scenery, and left a few selected minifigs out.

  8. Too bad they won't be available when the 60th Anniversary promo set becomes available. I'd planned to buy a Saturn V to get that promo... But something tells me I wasn't the only one with that plan.

  9. Nice summary. Good to see that my point about being a good seller is validated by production life. I doubt they are losing money on every set they build and Ideas sets don´t use new parts so they should easily be able to calculate their costs. The main culprit is more likely to be the buggy SAH website, which has proved time and time over to be untrustworthy.

  10. I managed to pick up a sealed Hogwarts 4867 today for only $50. Can't decide whether to keep a while or flip now. Nice mf selection should keep its value but I'm a real novice and don't know much.

  11. Did some TLBM building. Sets were 70910 Scarecrow Special Delivery and 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack. The Batmen and Scarecrow minifigs were sold some time ago so do not appear in the pics. Overall some nice builds. The mech looks pretty cool for its size. I especially like the pizza delivery vehicle, will be very useful in a city setting.

  21. There's still a few available to order but you'll need to call them to check stock. I imagine the one's they have won't be there for long.

  25. I got a great idea, we can make a 2 pack with a special box and make it limited for like a month , then make the same figures from that set and sell them individually a month later while the limited set is still out... oh damn looks like that idea was already taken

  26. Kmart allegedly has a 100% back on smart sense products promotion going on again: "Get 100% CASHBACK in points when you purchase $10 or more on any Smart Sense, Little Ones, Champion Breed, Cat & Co., Grey Wolf, Image Essentials, be bath escapes, or Essential Home products. Points valid for 14 days." I say allegedly because its not showing up for me when I add a bunch of stuff to my cart for store pickup. I won't have a chance to swing by a store until tomorrow, perhaps someone can report back if it works in stores before then.

  27. We've seen that TLG like to keep their moneyspinners in production a looooong time. TB, DS, T1 ect. As a new move, they also seem to strategically combat the reseller market with their own trgeting of remakes of sets that have been investment superstars. Retireing this soon would seem to go against these grains of what TLG are all about. Why would they cut off a robust revenue stream and tee up the reseller scum for a windfall? Anathema to the Bilund brigade.

  28. sold all mine in nov/dec, not because I knew new version was coming, but £15 buy-in for average sale £45 (x20), didn't see it going much higher so thought time was right. Will be looking to buy the new one at 50%

  29. If you were TLG, would renegotiating the contract be such a big deal? I mean this set is like printing money for them. Alternatively, maybe they got worried the last batch didn´t sell out immediately and they decided to spook resellers into action. In a week or two it will miraculously come back into stock. Or maybe it really is done with no retiring soon tag and at the beginning of 2018 just so they could say they sold it this year. Even raising the Spanish RRP by 10 euros a week ago to dissuade anyone from buying it. I doubt this set has sold more units than Ecto 1 and that one already went in and out of stock on occastions causing full reseller scum panic and look what happened afterwards... Not a great example to inspire confidence in post EOL residuals. Only the 718 listings on Ebay and starting at 1.99 a minifig.....

  30. I love how the most popular and talked about Lego set of the last few years (besides maybe the MF) was designed by a fan and not a Lego designer...

  32. 1x 60083 Snowplow Truck Amazon FBA for $53. This was my first buy for "investing" two years ago. I'd been reading the forums for awhile and I thought it was a cool set, and I remember seeing @exciter1 (who, after my reading, appeared to basically be a LEGO deity) post about it being available at Toys R US, so I took the plunge. It was also my first ill advised purchase as I got it for a total of about $18.50 with taxes. I bought a couple more for cheaper not long after, and then fellow BPers bought a lot more for a lot cheaper after that. I realized I didn't know as much as I thought, and learned a great lesson in the process. Thanks for the all you taught me Snowplow Truck, may you enjoy your new home...

  33. Information from Reddit/4Chan With a growing toddler and another little boy on the way I am super excited for the Juniors sets. I'll wait for discounts on these as they will still be too young for them, but the Duplo sets (once revealed) will be day one purchases.

  37. Been trying to find a way to display my falcon when I came across Effermans stand on rebrickable. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-10219/Lucioswitch81/effermans-vertical-stand-for-millennium-falcon-75192/#info Took some manoeuvring to get it on the stand and some rebuilding afterwards but it's great and very sturdy. (if you buy this before you build your falcon you can fit it after bag 4 and probably make mounting it and the actual build easier) Fits in one of the alcoves in my room almost perfectly.

  40. Opened "Clayface Splat Attack" to remove the Batman minifig that's going to be sold on ebay (one TLBM Batman is enough for my collection). Spontaneously decided to build the set. It's a nice build, and I like the parts selection. Stitch acts as a stand-in for Batman to save mayor McCaskill.

  42. They've been trying to switch to a may schedule since Rogue 1 if i remember correctly, they just keep getting release delays. From a selling toys point of view, May makes more sense than mid December. Increased toy sales during a quiet period and through summer holidays. Then kick the DVD out at Christmas to reignite interest and sell second wave toys. Plus people have less going on in their calendars in May.

  43. Chewbacca is in the MF. Looks like it's Kira, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando. The other looks like it's the one called "Mother Proxima". Overall, this is a set i'd wait to buy when it's on discount, and I'm not sure i'd open to build. It's one you just hold...especially if you have one of the previous past two falcons (which we do).. The speeders look pretty cool to me, and I also like the look of the range troopers. They are kinda in the same vein with the Imperial troopers in Rogue One with the Scarif and Death Troopers. Overall, these sets aren't bad, IMO. The sets with the landspeeders also look fun. The Tie fighter is one of those sets I know i'll end up eventually caving in and buying. It's a definite upgrade over the 2012 version (don't remember the set number). It also looks like it has some interesting minifigures, although one looks Captain Phasmaish... Overall, I like this theme. I thought the initial Rogue One launch with 5 sets was also good (looking back, those sets stand out a little more as time goes on)... The 2 Last Jedi waves are fairly boring, and the movie makes them even more dull, so these are at least a step above that.
