  1. I've had BB8 built for a while now, but i finally finished up "rounding" or "anti-studding" him to better match my rounded dome R2. Didn't turn out as well as R2, but still happy with it. Mostly involved adding small tiles everywhere, but in some cases i did need to take the panels off and modify them a bit to hide some of the bigger studded pieces.

  3. Well not bought. But I did pay for the gas to go get it. We will call it $2.29.

  4. I’ve had 18 orders so far this month. Nine of them were (0) feed back. Two more had less than (3). Is BrickLink becoming more popular? So far so good. Had some slow payers. But surprised to have zero NPBs. And no complaints about shipping costs or requests to cancel.

  7. 75185 @ 39 - Tracker 70904@18 (aren’t these retired now) ? - Clayface (retired) 75139 @ £29 - Battle on Takodana (retired) 75171@38 - Battle on Scarif - (retired) 75532@£30 - Scout Trooper Speeder Bike Always worth mentioning set names to save others the trouble. All still seem a bit steap still, scout trooper is a nice set at £30 for personal build. Would probably skip the others. The fact they are all 20 deep probably gives you the indication you need . . . . Any doubt, look at eBay sold listings to gauge recently sold listings and see if there is any meat on the bone.

  10. Sorry to be snippy, but you are on the wrong site if you want someone to agree with you. Everyone here is a professional or semi-professional seller. Seller is always responsible until the item is safely in the buyer's hands. That's what insurance is for if you are uncomfortable sending something valuable.

  12. Great baiting of the UKHD crew Tabby! Going to watch that HDUK post with glee as they take the bait and react! "you meanie, my little boy / girl / other would have moved this set. Why did you have to buy them all... "

  13. Sorry to butt in but those boxes are great for flipping all year round, provided the buy-in is low enough. Some of them also do well post EOL and this is the biggest box right now and is an exclusive. Plus they are good for boys, girls and adults. The perfect gift.

  14. Quicker out the blocks than Doctor Who. £65 to buy on Amazon and selling for £55 on Ebay. Seems to be creeping up a little every day.

  15. Yes - but it does help to make you think about what LEGO might be able to do (if a $500 set is in play).

  16. Hi there, Also a noobie too. From what I've learnt so far...don't buy sets that may be reproduced over and over again. Super Heroes sets have had numerous versions of the same sets and minifigs so they don't normally do so well as investment items. Also if the supermarkets are struggling to get rid of them (even at discount) then you may struggle to make money on the set (after selling fees). Even Star wars sets are being made and remade which is making them unsuitable for investment. Buying retired sets is good but just make sure they're the right ones. Nobody can predict the future though. Good picks are usually sets with a short production span and that are quite unique. Good luck with it all, take your time and do your research, there's load of info in these forums.

  18. Do you mean to invest at the current secondary market prices in hopes that they will rise further or you have a lead on some below market price? I would invest elsewhere unless you can make money on them right now. There will probably be some new sets when Toy Story 4 comes out in summer 2019.

  19. Since this is BrickLink, yes, of course, you can take a defensive stand with your buyer and claim you did your job. Don't think there is much the buyer can do - perhaps file a claim with Paypal? However, the best thing to do, especially on a friendly marketplace like BrickLink, is to help out your buyer without immediately assuming you will eat the cost. Help him take the right action steps to get this resolved. Assist with providing proof of shipment (and weight). If possible, use the PM insurance to cover him where needed. A little goes a long way.

  22. Absolutely! The inside looks a lot like something Lego could do. The outside looks fantastic as well (although Lego would probably use multiple colours of pieces mixed together to make it less dull... maybe including the grey piece that looks like bricks, probably most notably used in Helm's Deep). Mind you, the outside would look less plain with some of the characters on the outside as well, so who knows. This moc is awesome though... I sure as heck want it!

  23. Just in case it needs to be said again for those with too much on the line at Sears/KMart, the below warning was posted on SD yesterday. Pretty much sums it up: ALERT: Okay folks, for the first time Fast Eddie has issued a between the lines bankruptcy warning for Sears in his latest blog entry [searsholdings.com]. Quote However, should our efforts to complete the refinancing not be fully successful, the Company's Board will consider all other options to maximize the value of Sears Holdings' assets. This is Wall Street English that means the Board will declare bankruptcy to protect shareholder value by protecting assets from liens and seizures if it doesn't get additional lines of credit at reasonable terms. The problem is Sears is running out of assets (namely property) it can use to secure those loans, and the interest rate is growing higher on subsequent loans as the company's financial condition worsens. Unfortunately, Sears cannot cover all of its expenses now without borrowing more money. Note Lampert says "fully successful" when he could have said "successful" alone. That means the metrics for Sears' ability to continue in business depends on ALL of its needs being met, not just some of them. That quote alone will guarantee Sears' suppliers will panic and start pulling the company's credit lines, fearing they won't be paid. More will insist on full, upfront payment. Sears cannot afford to do that. Sears is also busily trying to refinance existing debt as interest rate increases continue. Almost all of Sears' major loans are variable interest. Sears and Kmart holiday sales were a total disaster, dropping 15-17% year over year at a time when other retailers gained 4-5%. The average dormant or new SYWR member received over $100 in FREECASH promotions in November and December with no minimum purchase requirement, and that failed to bring most into stores to spend it. This means a growing percentage of customers have completely written off both chains and have no intention of returning regardless of sales or promotions. The number of active SKU's - merchandise actually available for sale - achieved a new all-time low. Customers are not finding the products they want. Kmart's grocery department also cratered to a new worst-ever performance -- now too low for many soda, refrigerated food, and bread vendors to continue servicing Kmart on a weekly basis. Some are pulling out, others will switch to monthly replenishment. The percentage of spoiled/expired Kmart grocery items that were thrown out also reached the highest level ever seen by any national chain since records were first recorded in 1969. You have to pay $765 for the report to learn what that percentage was, but one can imagine. Kmart's pharmacy division will drop well below 100 stores in 2018 and will be de-certified in certain states. As a result of all of this, absolutely nobody other than Mr. Lampert in the business community expects Sears and Kmart will remain in business as it is now beyond this year. Many expect a bankruptcy protection filing in the spring or early summer, or another radical cost-cutting move to stall that for a few more months. One major investor liquidated more than a million shares of Sears stock, according to SEC filings. I've seen enough to recommend people who want to protect any gift cards or accrued points should consider liquidating them by the end of March to be safe. If you can accept increasing risk those could become worthless, you can wait until June. Be aware that Sears appliances are not a good investment to dump lots of points on. Parts vendors to service those appliances are fleeing Sears and are increasingly not filling parts orders, so if it fails, you cannot expect a prompt warranty repair from Sears, and Sears Canada screwed those with extended service plans up there after bankruptcy and the same is likely to happen down here.

  26. We're all clamoring for this Black Card, which means...not that much...since it's tied to our VIP account and we don't really "physically" need it. What this "we've sold 3x what we expected" means to me, is that the unnannounced perks, whatever they were, are not going to be as perky as they might have been. We need to stop worrying about the card and start worrying about the perks! It's easy enough for Lego to look at your purchase history, see you bought a Falcon, and make you eligible for whatever the deal is. Maybe we're all getting free Attack on Hoths!

  27. Canadiantire.ca still has the Rogue One AT-ST available for online order to store pickup for anyone interested. Not on clearance unfortunately, but Loblaws stores have CT giftcards on sale for %10 off, so that's something at least. They have Force Awakens Falcon too.

  29. Just a thought, something does not sound right here - if someone was going to steal this package they would never stand there and open a box and attempt to pick up 20 packets of Lego (ever tried holding 20 packets of lego), and then run off when you can just grab the box and run. As noted, get them to report the theft to the police and I bet they will also question this too. Keep asking them how the police have reacted. Certainly in the UK and I think in the US the seller is always responsible for the package until the customer is happy - the delivery contract is with the seller - so contact the delivery company too. In future - always use "signed for" then if the package is left on the front door step then delivery company is at fault no question. Also - the buyer has first option to reject the package because of fault - and the delivery company is at fault if the packaging damaged.

  31. I actually earned that nickname at a place I worked previously. I was sat at my desk having a bit of a stretch and managed to rip my shirt right down the middle of my back lol. I think the box damage is most likely to have been done by little toe-rags wandering round not properly supervised by parents. This is why I like the fact that Smyths Toys puts their big box Lego sets high up, well out of little Timmys reach.

  32. I think you forgot the Caterham Seven car that was produced as an official Ideas set. But I think the direct involvement of Caterham, working with TLG on design and promotion of the set, was a deciding factor in LEGO releasing this set. Maybe Caterham was so thrilled to have an official LEGO set of one of their cars that they didn't charge TLG licensing fees, considering the LEGO set as free promotion of their brand and car ? Win-Win situation for both Caterham and TLG... Question is whether Jaguar would be interested to give LEGO the same kind of input and support during the creation of the set. If Jaguar does show the same support as Caterham, then I can see the Jaguar model become a real set. Voltron isn't pending any longer. It's officially approved and will be turned into a real set. Remains to be seen which set comes out first, after the upcoming Ship in a Bottle. Either the TRON Legacy set, or the Voltron set...

  33. I’ve had plenty of 0 feedback buyers with transactions going smoothly. I don’t want to discourage anyone from accepting orders from a new buyer. Bricklink is pretty popular to talk about on Reddit. I think there’s an uptick in people looking for very specific things and being directed that way.

  34. Did you ask him if he called the police? That could be a good place to start. It looks like he got robbed. If I found a package like that on my doorstep, that’s what I’d do. You can gauge his response to that as well. If it came unraveled during transit, contact usps. The rest Could be sitting in the back of someone’s truck. At the least you can complain that they left a package in someone’s doorstep like that. Tell them they should make the same complaint as well.

  35. I’ve got an annoying BL buyer right now. I shouldn’t be surprised, he’s a 0 feedback buyer. I usually give them the benefit of the doubt. Buyer sends payment. $50 item. His PayPal address and Bricklink address doing match. So back and forth with him, getting him to change his address. I refund the money in the meantime so he can issue the payment again with the correct address. Tried to get me to send with a screen shot of the correct address. Nothing from him last night. Today, I ask him to pay, he says “I was waiting for you to send a payment link” (use the one from before!) and I resend. No payment yet. I doubt he’ll pay (maybe he will). Clearly I know better than to send. But wanted to share.

  45. Thank you. I would be interested not in anyone's sales per se' on if they are going up or down, but more interested in there are less purchases happening from year to year. n 2016, what was the invoice number at the beginning of the year vs about this time?; for any of you that track all of that. Is it less or more? I implemented Instant CHeckout for 1st class mail. Benefits is being paid right away, but the major downfall I feel is that until you can do Instant Checkout with Zones from within the USA, anything about a lb is nearly impossible to set up unless A) you want to rip off your customers on shipping or B ) Lose money yourself on shipping. What I have found is that if you have Instant Checkout enabled and if a purchase qualifies for it, you can't select another option (manual). Thus you can't say. If you live in CA, NV, WA, OR, etc... please request a quote, however all others can Instant CHeckout. ALso, I don't see anywhere that allows for residents of your own state to have tax added for Instant CHeckout. ANother flaw to me unless I'm missing it, Overall, do I like it for the small stuff. I do. But there is a lot more that needs to be done with it to make it the way to go. I would rate it 2.5/5 stars at this time due all the problems you could run into with it.
