I´m waiting for the next person to reply to this thread saying they regret buying too many 75111´s off Bricklink.3 points

Started with 52. I'm down to 30. Local Facebook sales have been a decent platform to move these on, granted I'm only making $5-$10 on each one.3 points

This could be the worst cycle we have seen they won't pick the tower or the SW one as they are against the rules and the shuttle is a lazy remake. Out of the other three the NF 15B is the only intresting one.2 points

The ship in the original design was better and looks a lot more detailed but with that likely more brittle and harder to build2 points

Don’t know how legal it is, but I received this in the mail earlier this week (and had a giggle about it with the kids):1 point

I think it will retire soon. There will most likely be a new Millennium Falcon set for the new Han Solo movie.1 point

I think at Xmas the impatient like to dump their stock. My popular sets (wall-e, scooby doo) stopped selling due to undercutters before black friday and didn't move again until 10th December. The good news hopefully is that if they got rid, only the sensible are left and fewer sellers should see prices rise.1 point

That will be 2019, maybe even 2020. They need time to mature before I even look at them again. Until then they are being sent to the Pit of Misery for a couple of years. Dilly dilly!1 point

I just added the original to the first post. I think I like the look of this bottle better. It seems more cylindrical to me than the original design.1 point

Good decisions: -transitioning to mostly FBA -buying/selling less SKUs, but more copies of each -ignoring recent conventional wisdom and arm sweeping City, Friends and Ninjago while mostly ignoring Star Wars and Super Heroes -Elves Poor Decisions: -continuing to buy CMF by the box with only modest discounts (still have tons of every set going back to monsters, few go for over MSRP even years later, Simpsons are finally starting to sell on BL) -trying to hit quick flip windows for WON, Saturn and a handful of others1 point

That sucks. It's interesting how sets a few pounds or less can be about the same or even less using Priority Mail, but it gets exponentially ridiculous the heavier they are. Not that anything I do is recommended, but those heavier sets I would set to calculated so you don't eat the crazy costs and maybe add the option of both Parcel Select + Priority Mail so it's on them if it's either too expensive or too slow.1 point

Personal Set Winner: Jestro's Headquarters: Buy in $20, sell $80+ (7 of them) and probably being able to flip some Rockets within a week of getting them for about $50 profit each. Worst Decision: Not sure yet, I have some inside thoughts but am overly pleased with my 1st near full year of doing this via starting with bulk buys only and moving into sets and deciding which one's to break out into the BL store while buying bulk around town. Best Decision: Shutting the BL store down in August to organize everything so that when an order comes in I can pull it very quickly and know exactly where an item is vs knowing "about" where the items may be. I even built a 9 dresser drawer (about 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall) specifically for all my New pieces and absolutely love it. I sometimes wish I would have built 2 at the same time though as the lots/part numbers continue to increase. I originally thought that 10,000 pieces was a solid store size, then I thought 15,000 was good. Now I'm at 50,000 and still looking to continue to add more and more as time allows me with family/other job. Every order, no matter what size or sale amount puts a smile on my face. Other Best Decision: Starting to do this. I think I was hitting a mid-life crisis while going through some health issues, lyme disease like, never confirmed but treated as if it was in the end (after nearly 3 years of searching for an answer) and needed to find an escape at home and just from everything else. I believe I found that new spark in my life. Looking forward to a fun 2018.1 point

Yeah, he knew it was being sent parcel select. I’ve never had an issue with it, but then again I’ve never shipped to HI before. All he needed to have done was contact me and arrange for faster shipping, which I would have been happy to have done.1 point

Interesting to note, however, that this number was something like 200 new members a day. Also during peak hours there were around 500 users online (I think), and now there are usually around 100 users online. While the overall pool of investors is growing without a doubt, you can be certain that a large number of users simply are curious or have already given up. Also I'm sure a potential bubble is causing a lot of older investors to phase out as well. The Dec-Jan craze over Lego investing is slowing down.1 point
-
I guess it all depends on the motivations of the small v large investor. Personally as a small investor I'll happily hold on to inventory as it's not tying up too much capital and I'm looking for a good profit per set, although you are right that there are plenty of small investors in a race to the bottom with Exclusives just to get out. If I had lots of sets I may think making £40 per set leaves me with a tidy profit. Maybe keeping 5 or 10 for longer term. I get the feeling that the market is so excited by the prospect of huge profits. Lego could release a £1000 ucs star wars set with a 5000 unit production run and it would sell out in days.1 point
-
Not disagreeing with your overall post, but maybe, just maybe, Tower Bridge and the T1 VW Camper Van have stayed around because they're really cool Lego sets which sell well and they're ageless so new afols are always going to want them. You do know also, that when you talk about the horde, that really we're all part of that horde.1 point
-
I think the market will right itself over time. Looking at the UK market plenty of people went nuts for The Tumbler but were expecting instant profits which haven't materialised. At the moment Tumbler sellers are selling to break even because they can't afford to be invested too long. You can see the same with EV, Sandcrawler, Pet Shop and other Exclusives. People gambled that retirements were imminent, that's not played out so they're having to sell sets at a loss because they can't afford to have cash tied up. They were expecting retirement to mean an instant £50 - 100 profit but they'd not taken any fees into account and they didn't realise how long aflyer retirement it would be before all shop stock went. I truly believe that the horde have killed the market through over buying and sets aren't retiring because Lego see the sales numbers staying strong. I can understand why DS stuck around so long, it was iconic and every lego star wars fan wanted one, saved answer bought when they could, but Tower Bridge? I think it's only still alive because people saw the Taj Mahal profits and thought TB would be next one to do similar. Same with the VW T1 after the Beetle prices shot up. Plenty will cash out when they aren'the making the profits they want in the time frame they had in mind and never invest in Lego again. It's a patience game. Even the 'better investment than gold' articles only mentioned a 12% annual return but a lot of the people seem to be hoping for 50 or 100% in a year.1 point
