I never have understood why people post pictures like this on their listing and enter their max quantity that they have. It's telling the potential buyer " I got plenty of these. No rush. Wait to see if the price drops further".7 points

After much research & deliberation this morning, we went into the store thinking we would purchase the Ferrari. However, once he saw the Fishing Store he started thinking about how he could get that instead. It didn't take too much arm twisting, but he now owes me $25 and walked out with the Fishing Store in hand. 2.5 hours later he's still building, and I imagine will finish it before bedtime. He loves it. Again, many thanks. Looks like Ferrari will be on his Christmas list. And as FYI -- Our store no longer had the Caterham. They did have a few of the Women of NASA on the shelf. Saturn V is still only sold upon request.3 points

Perhaps it's their way of attempting to make up for other shortcomings.3 points

I'm not even going to think about selling anymore until after BF. Most people haven't even started thinking about Christmas yet.3 points

It would be even more helpful if Lego provided realtime video of their production line including packaging so we are ensured mint boxes and sufficient supply to flip.2 points

You can try to fight it but your pretty much boned. Amazon has become a place where the buyer is always right so its easy to scam. It's infuriating. Try asking on the amz seller forums, you will get a lot more feedback there. At least it's just a $25 set. Many of us have gone through this with $300+ sets.2 points

Was totally hoping that last part was going to be something like... "Where's my order? Two weeks not enough time, Huh Huh, I see you have internet access, where's my bricks B***"1 point

You would think that instant checkout would keep these types away from your particular store. I didn't get hit this time around but did a few weeks ago. Fortunately the process of cancelling and getting parts back in store is pretty easy. I have held off from instant checkout until the bugs are cleared. There has been a lot of complaining on the seller side in the forums about bug issues so I have stayed away. Thanks for the order, hope all went well. I'm 2 months in and really like selling on BL so far. I have sold on Ebay for about 15 years now, but this is new to me. What I do like is that for the most part, you are dealing with informed buyers/sellers so it generally runs very smoothly.1 point

I bought a total of 19, sold 2 at 49.99 and trying to stay competitive with lowest price on eBay without driving down costs. Only listing 8 and waiting until BF boom to see if price goes back up. I’m not panicking as long as there is money to be made. I still profit about $5- $10 per set I sell at this price point. Maybe more if I can source really light boxes. I think this is my floor though for what I’m willing to sell at. No more reducing to offload, the holiday shopping isn’t in full swing yet. If i still have some sitting there, then they will sit in my inventory until EOL. I have other products selling to keep a good cash flow.1 point

Or sell a bunch now, make a ton of money, and buy a bunch more once it's back in stock for an eol that's a year away. But then I may get a couple returns on the 100 sets I sold at double buy in? Oh dang, nevermind.1 point

you best course of action is to send a prepaid label and tell them you will be happy to refund once the item is sent back per Amazon's policy. do not engage the buyer after that . If they open a claim , you have evidence that you did what you were supposed to do and waiting for the item to come back to you I wouldn't just refund, it empower them.1 point

these three also look like RETIRED. when the same thing happened to the 70588 Ninja Tumbler, it was like "over a carbon copy / paper".. on the first day it went out of stock.. on the second day it totally disappeared from the dbase... and two days afterwards listed as retired.. 70595 Ninjago - Ultra Stealth Rider 70594 Ninjago - The Lighthouse Siege 70627 Ninjago - Dragon's Forge1 point

Hockey/ringette teams and their new "pre-game warm up routines." I was sitting watching my kids skate and all of sudden I'm like what the hell is that noise and it's about 20 13 year old girls jumping and shouting next to the boards on the far opposite side of the rink... Apparently the signs all over the rink that say "No Dryland Training Within The Facility" aren't clear enough. When I told the coach that their girls weren't allowed to go into the rink area for their pre-game routine she says "Oh, I didn't know that." Da phuq you didn't. They proceeded to do it in the canteen area where there are also numerous signs. And when I was walking back to the stands the other team went rushing by to go do their warm up in the rink area. I kicked them out too.1 point

Let's keep this thread only for retired product updates (set number, name, S@H region). We have tons of other threads devoted to analizing past/future performance of sets / themes.1 point

So I'm gonna weigh in here. I know there was talk pages ago about 'destroying the brand', 'not collectible', etc. I collect lego because of its quality. The rareness of the sets has nothing to do with it. Megablocks suck to me...in fact any knock offs suck as far as I'm concerned. As far as building toys go, it's Lego or gtfo. I do feel bad for the investors, but collectors like myself aren't going to care how many sets they rerelease. I realize some will, but remember there's a quality to consider there. As for 'where were we when the original was there'.......we were younger and had less money, so we couldn't get it.1 point

Found some scraps at a local Kmart. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough last time. Needed some extras to push me over $100 to use $21 bonus points. Also used some points accumulated during my clearance spree last week. This whole lot ended up being FREE.1 point

I apologize for being a bit over the top. But the thing is, Lego isn't here to cater to the secondary market. That's the thing with stuff like this, it's only worth that on paper, and someone who thinks that they have thousands in profit without actually selling it and putting it to hard cash, is playing with fire. That's the same with any investment. As with all things, something has a ceiling, and this set on top of many others, eventually top out. I still don't fully begrudge you guys making money, I've said that many times here, but I just don't feel bad because you've had plenty of opportunity to make a **** ton of money on these sets. I agree that if all they do from here on out is re-release sets, then yes, it will leave a sour note. But doing this to the ridiculous amount of new AFOLS that come to buy Lego over the last few years is not a big deal. Lego is a toy company first and foremost. It being a collectable is a natural outcome to it being such a desirable and well made toy. Don't lose site of that. It's only in the last few years, that the collectors market really exploded, but for decades, it was just a Toy like any other company. I buy expensive Lego because I love building the big sets and displaying them and showing them off to friends. I buy it because I find the value to be worth it in my eyes. I had no problem dropping $800 on the MF because I love Lego, I love building Lego, and it's what I enjoy. I don't drop even $5 on those Funko Pop things because I don't like them, nor do they hold any value in my eyes. (Again not just monetarily.) Everyone has different motivations on what's valuable/collectable to themselves.1 point

I'm loving all this doom and gloom from you guys. As a strict builder only, secondary value is purely that, secondary. I don't really care what the value is, I love buying the sets and displaying them. The fact that you think Lego is magically going to go belly up just like that is so over the top. Like others have said, they are not here to protect your precious profits on sets. They are here to release toys to their fans. Of course they are wanting to get a chunk of the action, but so what. All sets eventually retire anyways, and they obviously can't remake every single set every single year. I'm fine with having an opportunity to buy a set that Lego stopped making years ago. I don't look at older sets and think, oh man it's so rare I have to have that...No, I look at a set, and think, damn I want to build that. There are plenty of retired sets that you couldn't give to me for free that I would want. And I've said this before, those that have been holding on perpetually, well I have ZERO sympathy for you. Greed bit you in the ass. There are things that I've collected over the years that have no value whatsoever because I loved the product, not because of some notion it will be worth money down the road. It just was a bonus on some stuff I've sold over the years that I was able to get my money back in a tight situation. But that is never my primary motivation for buying a set. And I can promise you, the vast majority of people who buy Lego don't immediately think, ohhhh, this will be worth money. No it's usually, oh look a really cool set that I would like to build and enjoy. I've been buying Lego for several years, and there are sets I had when I was a kid that I would love to have again. Even if I still had them, I would still love to have an updated model. It's always the minority that are the loudest, and quite frankly, I don't think Lego gives a crap what a few of you guys think about the perceived value. I remember as a kid, my mom got me the ISD for Christmas, and others as well over the years prior, and never once in my head did I think man, what is this going to be worth years from now. I still freaking have beanie babies for christs sake, and they are worthless. /rant1 point

How about you just like the way it looks or how it makes you feel? This seems like a hard concept for some here.1 point

I am not a fan of exact re-releases, but I would not ring the doomsday clock because of this one. LEGO will obviously not remake every set, not even every successful one. For every re-release of an exclusive there will be at least 10 that will never see a new release. So, what do we see here? The timing indicates that this does not take a place of a new exclusive, and since no designers spent unnecessary time on it, it can be considered as an extra in the release schedule. Thus, the complaints about LEGO losing its creativity are not warranted, like in the case of Winter Toy Shop. I would also say that it likely will not stop a new landmark from being released, as this is clearly for the fans only, as otherwise LEGO would not try to attract new customers with dated looks and building techniques. Then, what kind of exclusives are usually re-released? From what I see, they need to be either: Core elements of licensed franchises that are evergreens, and without any alternatives in the same franchise that have iconic enough status to make a large set sell well. Right now these are mostly SW vehicles. Sets that are iconic due to collectibility status and historical rarity, but they also need to be great on their own terms. Taj Mahal is one of these. About Winter Toy Shop: it did not fit any of the above criteria. Plus, it came instead of a new set. And accordingly, it caused an outrage. LEGO admitted that they made a mistake, and based on this, it can be said that LEGO will be afraid of releasing old sets that would take the place of a new one in a series or a release schedule. Any re-release that is not of a highly hyped set without any significant updates must only come as an extra in the release schedule. Then look at Taj Mahal. For LEGO, it must be an easy and cheap to produce sets due to the relatively small number of unique pieces. If it had lots of unique elements and minifigs, it might not have been re-released like this. I think its homogeneity was a huge factor when 10256 was considered. What does all of this mean to us? Well, due to the current market conditions, it is obvious there will not be new sets as desired in the long run as Taj or the Falcon. Therefore, they will not get a re-release due to some iconic collectibility status. So what is left is core franchise sets. If you avoid those, you can make a moderate profit if you play well.1 point

And that one new piece is so difficult to use, it increases the target age by 2 years1 point
