I was surprised when I stumbled on these at a TRU Express. I was able to use the 15% off clearance coupon. Had to grab all of those Quad Bikes after seeing the going rate on Amazon.9 points

It warms my heart to think the LEGO is now a better investment than Gold once again. ?5 points

Bought the 41130 Amusement Park Roller Coaster for $48 for my daughter - on sale at Target and a using combination of gifts cards totaling $25. Can't wait to see the look on her face!5 points

One of my BB-8s that I ordered online from Target had two popped seals. Instead of exchanging it for a new one when (and if) my local stores get replenished any time soon, I decided to crack it open and build it. I don't normally dip into my inventory because I don't display any sets and my kids have entered their dark ages, but I was bored and something about this set gave me an itch to build. I'm glad I did. This set is absolutely fantastic. The build was fun, and the detailed features look great and work very well. This set is gold, Jerry! Gold!5 points

For that amount, it would have paid to fly over from the US and wait on line.3 points

And that the two Lego stores I frequent both still have these on their shelves with 2015 seal codes even after discounts, double VIP and free set promos twice.3 points

That's why I jumped on the Build and Learn freebie while I could.3 points

The VIP card on its own is now going for the same RRP as the bleeding set and the auction hasn´t ended. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lego-Millennium-falcon-75192-black-VIP-card-limited-to-100-Leicester-Square-/282653895151?hash=item41cf7c29ef:g:PcgAAOSwl75Zus4R2 points

LEGO should be ashamed of themselves promoting such unscrupulous reselling behavior. These people get two and I can't even get one.2 points

I saw that yesterday and didn't post it here. Just more "I heard something from a Lego store employee" without proof. I wouldn't be surprised if it came true. It's common sense. After the initial wave of the herd and SW/ Lego loyalists buy these, this set will start collecting dust and go on sale. People bulked at overspending $200+ on a cool walking / remote control Rogue One AT-ACT toy last XMAS season so we can assume $800 for a Lego set is sorta comparable. Same happened with the Tumbler, many CUUSOO sets, exclusives, etc... even 10179 couldn't even pretty much be given away unless it was on-sale for 25% or better. On a diff note, I find it interesting that many folks (especially on twitter & Facebook) are surprised this set was so hard to buy and is sold-out. It was obvious this was going to happen(based on the history of 10179, the vast # of die hard AFOLs and SW fans and past popular Lego set launches). Everyone should have also foresaw Lego web site getting crushed because (by history) they either have an incompetent IT Infrastructure staff or love the PR of so saying we have so many customers that even our web site and call center can't handle it.2 points

So @exciter1 should be able to buy them on demand for the next 3 years then.2 points

i can't think of anything in the universe that would have been more predictably hyped than a new much improved UCS MF, the price of which is lower than even the lowest selling 10179. think of the thousands of people who always wanted a 10179 but it was out of their reach, a few thousand dollars. now you have this new improved one for $800!!!- its a bargain to a star wars lego fan. it is hardly surprising the response its received. we're already on page 141 of this thread. go back to the mindnumbing idle e-chit chat during the F5 hours lead up til sale time and you'll get a sense of the depth of interest in this set. my prediction is 75192 stays out of stock and unorderable until mid February. now that the horde has a whiff of the money this can bring in and people start posting how much they are selling them for, that will further fuel insatiable demand. when people can sell their spot in line for $200, it will remain difficult to obtain even when there is stock.2 points

This is what we did with the Ribba frame from ikea. Bought full matt sheets from Michaels the craft junk store and cut them to replace the ones it came with. Hot glued (yup) 2x4 bricks to it. Fits 54 figures nicely.2 points

I looked on with envy at the guys at the front third of the queue getting dartvrevan poly bags. Those soon ran out! Was still pleased with another scarif and a c3po though.1 point

Good spot! I thought I was going crazy with lack of sleep when I saw them. I asked them if they wanted theirs and they said "yes"... worth asking I thought. still curious as to how that fourth person got one though. i think they should have given away something similar as a one off that night. Though I'm just grateful to have been there.1 point

The 150 cards that were given to those waiting in line and the black VIP cards for the first 100 in line and the receipt is what authenticates it as genuine. The signature is just the icing on the case. If I was buying I would insist on those three items being included to justify such a big markup. Without that evidence then anyone can buy a gold pen and scribble and claim it's one of the 150. I doubt anyone who's looking to part with that much cash would agree to a sale without those aforementioned item.1 point

Me too. I'm sure this was a very deliberate decision not to let China do any of the first batch. I'm guessing China had about as much info as the rest of us. I have a feeling after the Sept 1 announcement, they ramped up production in China. We know they can't get them out by 1 Oct. They've admitted that. But I think we'll see a steady stream of them for awhile.1 point

What condition were they advertised as? It's funny, the condition says "Like New" but it says "Packaging will come damaged." How is that "Like New"? Lol.1 point

I am not so sure about your statement that it is only speculators that care about how rare a set is. In the end everybody is more or less susceptible to status, and having a rare unobtainable object displayed in your house provides that. If you have such a thing in your house you are not necessarily a speculator. It is very difficult to establish why anybody has interest in some object. In particular in this period of hype and the speculation going on with the old model. The nice thing about a van Gogh painting is that the original designer is no more. If you care about status that is. If you just like the design, you can get a poster or maybe some painting-by-number box if you want some "building experience". And I am not quite sure whether a lot of buyers now think they are buying a van Gogh, and after a few months realise that they have put this painting-by-number thing on display.1 point

few stores getting in small drop shipments of 2 per if you feel like checking in with them. For the callers out there. Legoland CA getting 6 is comical @Alpinemaps glad to see they are doing it at all there locations. Stupidly low initial runs of exclusives. Then they ship a pallet or 2 about a month later when no one wants them anymore1 point

I do not know many seniors here that have tons of expendable income. When I worked for the department of agriculture we actually had many seniors who ate pet food as they could not afford real food. I have read stats showing almost no one in the united has saved properly for retirement. I am not sure about the rest of the world. I know all my experience with seniors as they would much rather save their money or spend it on family members children's lego sets than their own sets. They really seem to think of others much more than themselves. My grandpa and his friends brag about how little they spend at bingo or dance night and laughed when I showed him this. He said if it cost more than his puzzles there was no way, but he is just one person. I think there could be some interest at nursing homes like puzzle tables or for therapy, but just have never met any senior citizen who I could see spending what this would cost for themselves. I really do like this though it is cool and I hope I'm wrong and it gets made and sells great!1 point

As a business owner for 25 years, you want to always appear busy. Who wants to go to a business that is never busy? People assume there is an issue, poor service or price problem. Perception is everything. You want to be the business that people say..."Hey, that place is always busy!" Apple stores are the best example of this. Eighty Apple employees make every store look busy....LOL1 point

Usually for exceeding the limits of a single item by placing multiple orders. But sometimes because LEGO is stupid and decides you're a reseller based on your order history (sometimes they get it right tho ).1 point

10179 inner frame is solid, designed to carry 20 pounds. many of us assume 75192 would follow it's lead in that area and i'm glad it's true. https://brickset.com/article/30631 Bags #1 Construction begins with the internal chassis upon which everything will be connected to. It's robustly built using studded Technic beams and plates so is very rigid as a result. Most of today's sets use colour coding of parts to make it easier to find them in the pile and also easier to see them in the instruction steps, and this set does just that: different sized beams are different colours, certain sized plates are tan, others are grey, and so on. The result is a bit of an eyesore but it'll all be covered up so it doesn't matter. I knew that designer Hans stated that he based this chassis design on that in the original UCS Falcon but I didn't realise until looking at the instructions now just how similar they are: The build time for this section was about 75 minutes. It's fairly straightforward, thanks to the colour coding, but you will want to ensure you have every Technic pin in exactly the right hole otherwise you're likely to run into problems later. Bags #9 Now we turn our attention to the top of the mandibles, which are built primarily from plates but with arches used to form the circular holes in the top. The details seen through them were added in bags #8.1 point

I know it's likely too early in the game to project overall success for 75192, but to me, the silver lining in this debacle is that TLG is getting a very clear message that there is extensive support for sets of this size and grandeur.1 point

One of my great triumphs was this. Bought huge load of Lego on craigslist for $60. Clearly from the couple photos, it was worth more than $60. After several hours of work, ID'd a good 8 sets that were in there. Downloaded instructions, sorted minifigs, circled some parts that were in there. Took better photos of my documentation, listed set numbers, stated the risks involved, and included photos of some sorted parts. Sold it all on craigslist for $400 to an empty nester guy who spends his evening sorting Lego.1 point

People make a big deal about Max Profit. It can be ignored. The reason it stays here is because 500+ users follow this thread. If I remove it from here, then I have to tell hundreds of people to go elsewhere when this is the deals thread. It's not going anywhere, so ignore it and then don't complain about it. Those that are complaining about it are making more of a mess of this thread than Max Profit is. The script runs every 3 hours. Removes all previous posts and just leaves the latest and greatest (1 single post). For each of those that complain, there are plenty of others that send a PM, email, Facebook message that say..."thanks" Max Profit will be improving and also be integrated into other features that may eventually replace this part here. So have patience. Maybe one day some of you will find use for him, but for now, do what works for you, ignore him and have a happy day. This is the end. If you want to PM me about it fine, but don't waste anymore time here in this thread.1 point

The bonus points offers are dwindling, but the Sweeps are strong for me. I'm racking in $10-$15 a week at a minimum. They've increased the frequency of the Bonus sweeps, with $1, $2, $3, $4 and $5 sweeps happening several times a day, 7 days a week, both in XTRA as well as in the Win It! app. I'm not winning those very often, but still, all put together, my average daily winnings per account are in the $1-$2 range, enough to get me a free 20% discounted $20 set once per week, or if I save up some points, multiple sets (or more expensive sets) once every two weeks, where I combine my Sweeps points with coupons ($5 off $35, $5 off $20, $10 off $25 or $7 off $35, depending on what they are willing to give me - granted, the better ones are very rare for me, $5 off $35 is the best I can typically do). I think (I don't have my inventory sheet with me) I have collected over $2.5k MSRP in sets the last 6 months, and I spent maybe $250 out of pocket.1 point
