  8. I've already three of those from recent launch and Guard with Stormtrooper with pauldron are the best. I very much like the way Lego managed to work with gravity to put some weight on the plasticy pauldron to simulate this part as more like "flex accessory" rather than "fixed part". It's wobbling when you move him plus helmet is fantastic and much better shaped than those from TFA which are tad too narrow. So as far as I can tell Praetorian 75529>Stormtrooper 75531>Stormtrooper Pilot 75526 Chewie and Rey are out of my radar since I consider them as hideous.

  9. Down to 34 sellers as well. Should hit close to $400 on Amazon by Christmas I would bet.

  10. It´s not retired - yet. This is what TLG do when they have a sale and run out of stock to stop people backordering them indefinitely at the low price. If you remember, the flyer said limited quantities available.

  11. I picked up a 30182 Santa Claus polybag. I was an ones I couldn't afford the postage on a couple of 1970's sets so I bought this instead along with a few other little sets [emoji23]

  13. Just weird that there are only 14 sellers on Amazon, and the buy price could jump to $160 if the $119 seller sells out. I'm sure volume is low. On eBay they are going for $80-ish still. Basically I'm bored and looking around at sets in my office. :-)

  15. I recall last year and correct me if I'm wrong but the sandcrawler sold out and everyone panicked and went out and bought out walmart. Set came back full force a week later as I recall amd slowly crawled to retirement about 8 months later.

  16. Walked into walmar t at 8:00 this morning, no tlj sets except the scout and the small resistance one. So I went over to the mall. Bought a plush porg from Disney store and got the free posters. Then I went to stand in line for the Lego store to open. Was the first to grab BB-8. I got a stormtrooper, poster, cavemen and some other polybags that has how to form letters. I took that to the car, came back, got the small resistance ship, a couple fo battle packs, and all the promos again. Then I went to tru, and picked up the city advent calendar to get the r3 and also got 2 posters.

  20. We all like a good knee jerk reaction and as I was looking through ebay sales, I was just thinking how a few of last years retirements had disappointed so far. Really thought Ecto-1 and the White House would be stronger out the gate, but I guess so did everyone else and they must have been seriously hoarded. Looking at Ecto-1 on Bricklink, it's sales are similar enough, if even a little stronger than Wall-e, but there's still 3 times as many Ecto-1's for sale as Wall-E's, which will stunt the growth. Anyone else got any they had much higher expectations of? Just thought of another, Shuttle Tyderium, definitely no At-At or Star Destroyer.

  22. Ya know....that would make total sense to re-release the "Space slug" collectors set with the 75192 release as a "freebie" with purchase. time will tell but great observation if I had a wish list of freebies with this set, that be one of them plus an exclusive "Jedi master luke" poly bag exclusive figure added to the mix....heck if were payn $800 large ?Why not??

  30. The question is how many can they store in the store?

  31. Sorry if someone has already posted it, but here are a couple of photos of the set from my local store. It's hard to capture the scale of the set in these photos, but it's impressive. The box is really cool too. Whenever someone stopped to gawk at it, someone else would ask "are you getting one"? There seems to be only two answers....1) oh, yeah for sure... or 2) are you kidding me? It's an $800 Lego set!?! The former mostly from dudes...the latter mostly from moms with teenage kids..haha

  32. I prefer soaking them in a large tub or bowl over night, using a colander and salad spinner to get rid of the excess water, and let them dry on a towel. Less scratching, missing parts, and finding random bits in your appliances.

  33. Deals in Europe are horrendous. The usual trash is discounted, and no Scarif Tropper. Count me out. 3xVIP is nothing, I get better deals in webshops.

  34. First.. correlation doesn't mean causation. Lego was in trouble and it wasn't due to lack of inflated sales due to speculation. Sure the new speculator sales help immediate revenue, but like all sugar rushes, it's not real, nor is necessarily healthy. Lego pivoted in what they were selling and what brands they were licensing - that is what turned Lego around... not scalpers. People have been buying "boxes of plastic" for entertainment for decades. Speculators don't create a market - they obfuscate it. If anything, one would argue it's more harmful as it creates a false view of the market that is unsustainable. I bet 99.999% of Lego buyers have no idea they can resell their sets when they are done as anything but "a box of misc legos". Sure, the UCS and other limited run sets are a different market and those buyers are different. But I'd wager that most fans still don't buy with the idea of flipping or 'selling for appreciation'. Most just know there are secondary markets where they can get sets that are NLA. The "investor" crowd only works when you are ahead of the curve or can influence availability. With Lego re-releasing sets, the availability angle disappears. With the decade or so now of the flipper behind us... there is no more 'ahead of the curve'. Lego isn't producing for the speculators... so when someone groans about their piece that used to be an exclusive showing up in other sets.. boohoo.

  35. Maybe...maybe not. We will see how many people will pay $800.00 for a box of plastic that doesn't appreciate. The LEGO secondary markets have help prop up the primary market for years. Before there was eBay and resellers, LEGO was in the red. Now people know there is value to LEGO sets. What happens if there is no value and they are looked at as boxes of plastic? There was a perceived value to LEGO sets that made it easier to pay premium prices for a bunch of ABS plastic. What happens if that perceived value diminishes? Do people move on to more cost effective options? If The LEGO Group starts losing money, do they cut back on new ideas and sets? It's complicated...

  39. Up to a point, I agree. There were about a dozen and a half decent sleeper sets from 2016 that could have been bought at RRP and now bring in more net profit than many discounted sets. That was even despite TLG flagging them as retiring soon on their web, so the game is indeed not over. Here, it´s been a year of spectacular discounts and that has probably saved things as some good sets could be got at up to 70% off and should be profitable at Xmas. 75150 Awing v Tie, 41119 Friends Plane and 70590 Ninjago Training could have been in that category due to their short production lives but it seems so many were made that they will struggle to make decent returns, even when bought at 50% off so they would be my 2 biggest disappointments as I didn´t expect that at the beginning The other big general disappointment has been the performance of all 2016 retired large exclusives. Pet Shop and Ewok were givens but Sandcrawler, Opera and Fairground Mixers should have done better by now.

  40. Hi everyone! I'm new to posting on BP but have been lurking for awhile now. below are a few pics of a MOC that I originally made to be a center piece to my daughter's LEGO elf village. It never really got finished because she decided to use it as a night light! Now if course my son would like something as well. For the lighting I used shapeable wire Christmas LED lighting. I hunted around online for some model lights but everything was pretty pricy. Any suggestions on good deals out there or any suitable alternatives? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

  41. My policy: if the buy-box price (or a little less) looks satisfactory to me, send it in. I don't worry much about sales rank, unless I have a lot to sell (I usually send in 1 of this, 3 of that... sometimes 5 or 6 of an item, but rarely more). If you match the buy-box price for sales rank 20,000 or less (and some d-bag doesn't have his software set to automatically undercut you) items usually sell within the first few hours. Sales rank 40,000 or 70,000 may take a few days. Sales rank 150,000 may take a few weeks (or may sell quickly... you never know). I am only wary of slower selling items (sales rank > 100,000 ) in that I won't send in multiples of those items... no need to send in 4 or 6 of those... they may be in storage a month or two, and I don't like storage fees. If the one you send in sells quickly, send in another.
