I think I'm "in for one, on day one" if I can get it. My plan: buy it and gently take it home, and wait a few months. If the market goes nuts, and there's no supply in November... maybe I can make a few hundred bucks on a local sale. If not... well... I never had the original, and would love a chance to build the biggest Lego ever, especially in a Star Wars theme. I have no place to display it for long at home... but we're not much for Lego displays around here anyway. My son and I will build it for fun... display it for a month or two... then sell it for $500 or $600 used. Maybe discounts will come down the line, but hopefully retail price will hold firm for the first 6 months or so? That's a couple hundred dollars worth of fun to me. The question is... when is day one? Sept 1st? Sep 15th?
About the wheeled box... I wouldn't be surprised if this wheeled box thing becomes a permanent option in the Lego store. I'm hoping it actually is a brown "open top box" they can fab up in-store, and load your purchases into it. Would be perfect for any big spender families who come in and buy, say, a Disney castle, a Technics Porsche, and a few other sets. It's hard carrying all those bags around the mall.
