Outside of the glaring issues with the frame and magnets used, it will take a hell of a ship to outdo 10030. I love mine and it's prominently displayed.3 points

I still think that the 10030 (in spite of its issues) is a beautiful/significant set.2 points

Employees can still get the sets. They often have raffles based on submitted survey results from the bottom of receipts, and they can choose some of the sets.2 points

My store actually shipped in a bunch of good stuff when they closed. There were 20 Mystery Mansions at 40% off markup.2 points

Since we have the buying thread, I thought we could have a selling thread too. Let guys, and girls, let others know sets they have moved, maybe returns that they realized and the timeframe it took to get there. If this is lame, well, I guess it will fall to the depths of the forum, here goes. Sold a sealed 7199 IJ Temple of Doom for $200, purchased for $115 6 months ago I have others, but this is just to give you an idea.1 point

Getting rid of 3PSs would hurt this stat: http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-vs-google-online-shopping-product-starting-point-2017-7 They like being the place that sells the biggest variety of stuff. 3PSs help them offer tons of stuff that other methods don't or take too much effort. I think as manufactures obligate to offer most of their catalog on Amazon we will be kicked off that product. Where it gets interesting is the former products that the manufactures no longer offer. Amazon wants these items to keep people away from Google or competitors sites.1 point

We personally have not had any reviews or suspensions on any of our amazon accounts but we know plenty who have. Amazon is very strict with their policies and they tighten up all of the time. Manufacturers are also getting alot more involved with making test puchases from Amazon and reporting unauthorised/counterfeit goods and are now also suing sellers directly who are not authorsed resellers. Sounding like a broken record but diversify across categories and across selling platforms. Big changes happen at Amazon all of the time and clearly the pattern is them moving toward cutting down/out 3P sellers. It may happen slowly, they may pull the plug ovenight, but it will happen eventually. They are moving toward a model of Amazon, actual manufacturers, and a handful of the bigger manufacturer authorized resellers being present on the platform. It would be smart to start transitioning out of the Amazon platform and begin building up on other platforms or creating/marketing your own website if you haven't already.1 point

Not yet, someday we might be lucky and one of the retailers will offer it at discount.1 point

The 10030 as of now only has its size going for it. Its looks and building techniques are very dated, even a mediocre design will easily outdo it. In any case, an ISD remake is a quite obvious choice, and it also has lots of space for a decent interior. It could make a very nice large set.1 point

Keep it, but remember when you have to pay a little extra for shipping on something else, let it slide. The universe will balance everything out.1 point

If the discrepancy isn't that much, you can chalk up the difference to "packing materials". The buyer won't know if you don't print the label with the pricing on it.1 point

Yep. I need a 12.5" x 12.5" shadow box type frame. At Comic Con I got Michael Giacchino's autograph on a Rogue One two disc LP. A standard size LP frame is not deep enough.1 point

heard same, southeast would go to LL FL for master builder projects and to be repurposed when rehabbing the display etc. Employees used to get some but think as the boom happened they strayed away from that more. Remember hearing some rumbles of not getting them anymore.1 point

Not sure what the exact policy is at the moment, but at various times they have either been given to employees or broken down and sent back to Enfield to be used for various LEGO community events.1 point

@Sozial Nobody here knows which sets will retire for certain by end of this year. We do have guesses and hunches. 75095 seems to be a likely candidate for the chopping block. 75060 could be retiring, but if it's still selling well it may get extended. Recent Ideas sets for the past few years had an average production run of one year, so Caterham and Beatles Sub are likely candidates to go EOL. Simpsons sets should be end of life as well. More interesting will be which Creator Expert set(s) will go out. Most likely Palace Cinema will leave for good. But a vehicle should also finally be retired. Question is: which one? VW T1 is oldest, but still selling well reportedly. A surprise retirement could happen if the Mini Cooper or the Ferrari F40 leaves the stage ahead of order. And then there are other themes like Architecture, Ninjago (Temple of Airjizu?), Friends, Nexo Knights, etc. to consider...1 point

So, I suspect one of the sets will be the indomiraptor or whatever it's called. Looks like I should hold onto the JW theme that I invested in for a bit... I will say the sets have skyrocketed up quite a bit lately, so they definitely have legs. I just wonder if we will just get Blue, and Trex again, as I suspect they will recycle at least a few of the molds, and maybe produce a few new ones. More than likely that will be the case, but hopefully there are a few more molds out of this. I think the IR set will be safe, and probably be one of the more valuable sets as time goes on.1 point
