  1. Stumbled upon a Jurassic World Raptor Rampage 75917 at a local Toys R Us. It seemed out of place since the series has been off the shelves for months. Scanned the thing and it came up at $0.03. Shocking deal.

  2. I applied for a job at Sam's Club late last night, and got an interview and the job the very same morning shortly after I woke up today. I'm only 19 and an off and on college student who's been unemployed most of the past year so this is a big deal for me.

  3. While I am getting closer to releasing a long overdue update to BrickPicker, now is a good time to release some content that I was hoping to release with the updated site. @belljohn has been talking with Ed and I for a very long time and has spent a lot of time in creating a series of Brickvesting videos that he is happy to share on the BrickPicker YouTube Channel. I am hoping to see this expand this into a bunch of different topic series and welcome any of you that are interested in working on some videos to reach out to me and we can work on it. Set reviews, investing tips, set builds, etc. It's not easy to speak for ~15 minutes, but Brook does an amazing job covering this topic. We will be publishing more videos soon from belljohn. We hope you enjoy it. Who knows, maybe soon you will see Ed showcase his amazing words of wisdom in video. That will be a real treat. View full blog article

  4. I think my post belongs more in the Getting Out of the Game thread but here it goes. I'm small time. Was buying and selling to self fund my Lego hobby/addiction. Now it's more about time. I'd rather be spending time with my two kids and my wife instead of packing and shipping Lego sets. I still have a decent stash left but I haven't bought anything to resell in about a year. The space it takes to store sets also wore me down. My inventory spilled out of my storage room and into my bonus room and my wife didn't take it too well. Happy wife, happy life.

  6. No expert here... but I think this is one of those questions you really have to ask yourself... "What is it worth to me?" I'm not sure you'll really find a consensus here on the value of this item in the next 24 hours. For me... I dunno... I might give $350 for it? With a new one coming out, this is just another old, used Lego with missing figs.

  7. My policy: if the buy-box price (or a little less) looks satisfactory to me, send it in. I don't worry much about sales rank, unless I have a lot to sell (I usually send in 1 of this, 3 of that... sometimes 5 or 6 of an item, but rarely more). If you match the buy-box price for sales rank 20,000 or less (and some d-bag doesn't have his software set to automatically undercut you) items usually sell within the first few hours. Sales rank 40,000 or 70,000 may take a few days. Sales rank 150,000 may take a few weeks (or may sell quickly... you never know). I am only wary of slower selling items (sales rank > 100,000 ) in that I won't send in multiples of those items... no need to send in 4 or 6 of those... they may be in storage a month or two, and I don't like storage fees. If the one you send in sells quickly, send in another.

  11. That's a free steak dinner buy. My ToysRUs would say, "Thanks for finding this, we can't sell it to you." It would then disappear.

  12. This is not eBay but Kijiji. There's a trade that supposed to take place with a NIB set. The other party in all email correspondences mentioning his set is mint and box is perfect . He insisted on to discuss over phone further. On calling and probing further, then only I realized that the set is built. I think he is desperate to trade as he kept insisting I got a better deal. In the end I called it off. With the shady behaviour, I am not sure even the set is complete in the first place.

  16. Yes, I noticed at least 3 times I said the wrong information, but the text should be right. I am going to post the data and photos in a day or two for everyone to see to go along with it. Thanks for watching. I have a lot more written up, but give me more ideas if you have them.

  17. So watch and wait. It´s not like there aren´t more and it´s a buyers market unless the new one looks like my avatar. Buying an incomplete one with no box to resells is madness ATM, in my opinion unless the price is RRP or below. BTW how much is it at now?

  22. I do not understand why does the theme need to define the quality of the set. The price point is very good as the set is large. Who cares what is written on the box, LEGO is about the build. Speaking about AFOLs, 'adult' means that they are supposed to have the brain capacity not to be influenced by the branding in choosing which set to build. You say yourself that it is an 'incredible design and likely interesting build'. If you think so, then listen to yourself, buy it and enjoy it.

  30. I got 8 blind bags of these and got the following: Lloyd, Master Wu, Misako, Flashback Garmadon, GPL Tech, Sushi Chef and 2 (!) N-Pop Girl. Luckily none of the henchmen in that batch. All of them were on my wishlist and an extra N-Pop Girl is always welcome.

  32. First time posting, but I have been lurking for a while now. I recently re fell in love with legos after building the Saturn V rocket. I was so amazed at the build and how every thing went together so perfectly. I immediately wanted to display it in my Man cave. After I did I started thinking about my other cool things I wanted to display. My collection of 100 amiibos that were just sitting in a bag came to mind. The rocket takes up a lot of room and I was wondering how I could display the rocket and all my Amiibos on the same shelf. I decided to build a 3-foot bridge that would go over my Saturn V. So far I have built a 2 level bridge and I have one more level to go to fit my 100 Amiibos on it. So that’s the back story, any advice or incite on my built would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to keep it looking like a bridge but also keeping it as a functional display. I was thinking of adding ramps to make it more realistic but, I am not really sure how to do that with the limited space I have. I already need to lower the bridge to fit on the 3rd level. I have been able to put 36 lbs on the lower level and it creaks but holds steady. I was impressed, but not sure if that’s good? I stuck with Mostly White, Black and Gray, the bridge is totally symmetrical bar a few off color variations. I kinda wanted it to look like the Tynes bridge but I have no idea how to make the struts or if they would even add any strength. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope to hear from you guys. Wally

  33. I see some new arrivals on the site, including Technic sets, so they may be getting ready to move the older sets out... here's hoping... Notably, the largest new set 6x6 all terrain town truck at $259.99 vs retail of $369.99.... Discounts on new Technic sets are in the 25-30% off range...

  36. Compare it to Sea Cow, very similar in terms of positioning. This is larger and more detailed, thus maybe a bit better potential, but still should be close to it. In any case, no D2C has set a large long term potential now, market got saturated and too competitive. People here have to keep in mind that the golden age was good not just because of the low number of investors. The low number of D2C sets released so far at those times meant a much smaller universe of collectable sets and variety. Also, LEGO kept a lower amount of sets in production, so people ran out faster from in-production sets and needed to resort to shop the retired market sooner. Now anybody coming out of the dark ages (i.e. the market for retired sets) faces a plethora of choices. LEGO has an obscene amount of sets in production with discounts coming back. The retired market has such a selection that you do not even know what to get. Long term investments for D2C sets in my opinion is pretty much over for this reason. Better gains can be made on smaller and short production sets. People are less reluctant to pay triple on a $20 set than a $200 one.

  38. To extend the build fun, LEGO has implemented its first "sticker for each brick" set! You will receive a full complement of stickers to apply to an entire box of white bricks. We have even provided white stickers for the white bricks so no part of the experience is lost!

  41. Moved to a new house over the weekend. Contemplated disassembling 10030 but decided to move it built. Thankfully, it survived the trip. The only pieces that came off were a couple feet on the stands. I added additional inner frame brackets during my build years ago so that helped with stability.

  42. Not a set I've bought but got the instructions for Mirko Soppelsas UCS U-Wing MOC and ordered all the parts i don't have. Hopefully this will tide me over until 75192 hits the shelves. Not a cheap set of instructions to buy but the manual is a work of art and comes with a unique numbered tile as it's a limited release.
