70902 Catwoman Catcycle Chase x 31 at $5 each (75% off). 70903 The Riddler Riddle Racer x 13 at $13 each (57% off). One of my local Walmart's is going through a remodel. These two sets were already marked down to $10 and $20 respectively, and they had a lot on hand. I know the manager pretty well, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for a little more off if I took them all. It was the perfect storm of scoring a mega deal. Total purchase came out to 68% off.5 points

I agree with you. I think LEGO already has changed the way they sell sets. If it sells, it stays...If not...it goes. But at $800, I really don't think LEGO really cares one way or the other if this set sells. It's a "Statement Set." It's the biggest and best and makes for an awesome display piece at stores. With all these new movies with the Falcon in it, it's going nowhere soon in my opinion.3 points

here's where the extra money goes (when compares to 10179's MSRP) inflation licensing fee to Disney / LucasFilm. i'm sure it increases regularly. additional bricks, minifigs, stickers, printed elements, etc... projected extra money the Lego suits know they can charge since many SW fans are fanatics. Only problem is ANY $800 MSRP Lego set will sit on retail shelves and warehouses after the initial demand is fulfilled. It's too much money even w/ nice discounts.3 points

I think someone might need to start working on an update for this image.3 points

Hopefully this move on ToysRUs' part to prevent the use of rewards on "LEGO Construction Sets" will have an inverse reaction and bring back the old days of the Colored tag sales. Ever since the inception of the coupon exclusions for LEGO I rarely set foot in my local TRU. The only times I go now is for my kids so they can spend their xmas and birthday money and even then I show them the fine art of pming and coupons and do my best to prevent them paying TRU's inflated prices.2 points

The next Barnes & Noble sale should provide a decent opportunity to grab some more of these. My two stores are heavily stocked, and nobody buys lego from there. I'm assuming others share the same experience? I think I've only got 4-5 of these. My goal is 12-20.1 point

@hockeyweasel thanks for the insight I appreciate it. Was looking to get over the $99 hump on S&H to stack the piggy bank and ornament promo's. Sounds like they both have pros and cons. Might just end up going for the AA.1 point

I think all of the Beatles fans that are going to get this have gotten it. Any future Beatles fans that are AFOLs or future AFOLs that become Beatles or Ideas fans can get supplied by the horde. See Doctor Who sales for performance predictors. I think it was a turd, so I'm bearish on this set, but there are/were supporters of this set who should chime in on the bullish outlook.1 point

If this one will have certification of authenticity that came with first numbered 10000 boxes I'm going in full throttle day one.1 point

If Lego has changed to production by demand then I predict a very long run for this kit because the demand will come from resellers. Fire Brigade, Doll house Death Star, , London Bridge, T1 Camper, etc., etc.. I predict a very long wait for a mature investment on this one. Also don't forget how many years it took for 10179 to reach $5k. My buy in was $400 from Amazon and I was happy to dump them at $800 four maybe five years later? $4K was/is a lot of money to have tied up for that long. I'm dumping my Fire Brigades this year. They will never reach the price of previous modulars. I'm not convinced any modular post Fire Brigade, will. Too many players on the field.1 point

Also this set is going to have a very long shelf life and be basically print on demand. TLG did not want to invest heavily out of the gate on this one. This set is going to determine alot about how this company operates going forward. The 2-3 year cycle is on its last legs.1 point

Got some info today on the Falcon and it looks like it's a complete remake similar to the Death Star remake. Practically identical with some colour changes to rare parts with new radar dish and minifigures. Retail will be $799. Hope everyone has offloaded all of their spare inventory.1 point

Starts tomorrow online and in store. I called my local shop and they received a shipment of 30 globes to hand out starting tomorrow morning. I'm interested to see if LEGO Shop at Home will allow stacking with the Piggy Babk.1 point
