Finally got together the missing parts for my UCS General Grievous 10186 that I bought used a while back for $90, so I built it over the weekend. My primary observations are that 1- it is huge compared to what I expected and 2- it seems unstable compared to most of the other sets I have built. I could definitely see my son demolishing this things in no time. I usually build these with the kids, but they were out in Yellowstone camping so I took the opportunity to build this one while they were away since several of you guys had mentioned it is a more fragile build than most...good call! Look how big it is next to some of the other relatively large sets!6 points

Having now built this, it's no wonder why Lego haven't released a UCS AT-AT. Despite his being well designed and structurally very stable it was a bit of nightmare putting everything together. I spent almost a day attaching the head onto the body. Biggest build to date coming in at just over 6700 pieces. Hopefully that will be topped by the new Falcon and then my UCS collection is complete with respect of in my opinion all of the iconic ships in Star Wars universe.5 points

Months ago I bought a 30 pound lot from Goodwill and just hadn't had the gumption to open it. So this weekend to avoid cleaning I started sorting it. After sorting it looked like the first picture. I built the first set out of the lot, which was a Raiders Temple Escape. The only thing missing from the entire set was two of the eight gold coins, crazy. Already posted it to BL and CL, this would more than pay for the original buy, plus there's some portion of a 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge (all the figs and sails are there) and an Exo-Force Sentai Fortress. There are also a bunch of Technic instructions, I'll have to see what's actually there. I'll keep the Sail Barge and sell everything else.4 points

I know some of you have been thinking about the launch tower for the Saturn V. Here it is on the Lego Ideas site. One of the same designers created it. You can't complain about a repetitious build when it this cool. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a88109ec-9970-4fe1-98b4-9bd535856ab43 points

I am sure more than one of you will be foaming at the mouth afer watching this video. It´s a 30 minute exploration of Lego´s own archive library of most MISB sets ever produced.3 points

Ha! I straightened it out right after I took the pic. It bothered me as well...but I decided to post the pics as they were and let it bother many of you too:) Thanks! It was originally in an old pharmacy in Birmingham, AL in the 20s, and I picked it up about 20 years ago when the family that used to own the pharmacy sold it in the classifieds. Good ole pre-craigslist days when you had work for a find. Lol.2 points

I am working on 60080 Spaceport. This one looked really good for being a normal set (I have never built anything City from new). I have not went down the UCS, Expert path yet for anything. I am up to book 5 (final book and it is for the boosters). Next set to build is either the 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate, 6211 Star Destroyer or 8039 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser.2 points

1, That part freaked me out. 2. I need to get those rolling shelves for my house 3. Who let those hippies in there to man-handle those beautiful boxes? Where was the respect? Where were the gloves? Did they even bother to wipe the cheeto dust off their fingers before defiling that temple? gasp.2 points

What screams more to my attention is the lack of UCS TIE, Slave, ToA and Minecraft Village. PC, T1 and TB are all there, though.2 points

So, I finally decided to crack open the set after being able to find time. However, I had to call in some additional help. "Okay, team. Grab that thing-a-ma-brick and we'll attach it to here..." "Okay, Captain. I'm going to give you this injection for space sickness. So hold still. This won't hurt...much.." "Uh...doctor, are you sure...." "Shhhhh."2 points

Jamie from TLG confirmed as much in a recent interview. The only sales data we get are the best selling sets in the bi annual reports and T1 is not one of them but it must have fairly constant demand or they would have pulled it by now. The fact it makes no sense to remake it means they will probably keep it going until there is a clear sign of falling demand. It´s one of the few cross over sets that people who don´t particular like Lego could buy.1 point

You won´t appreciate how the big, heavy UCS Falcon was stacked on top of two smaller sets, either!1 point

Why retire something that sells well? All the hard work (design, licensing) has been done. All they're doing now is moulding plastic and bunging it in a box. Methinks TLG will prioritise their own bottom line over that of resellers1 point

We were on vacation in Asheville, NC 2 weeks ago, and during one of the rainy-days, I saw an ad on Craigslist for bulk lego that had some Harry Potter parts sticking out. The lot was split into multiple bags, so I offered $100 to take them all. Before leaving, she had her son run in and get the "ship" that was sitting on his shelf. He came out and plopped a Black Pearl on top of one of the boxes. =) After soaking and cleaning he pieces, the Pearl was mostly complete, only missing 1 sail and 1 mini-fig. I've also inventoried a Clone Turbo Tank, a Hogwarts, Hagrids Hut, LOTR Mines of Moira, and a Hobbit Goblin King Battle. There's more, including some space themed sets that I haven't yet identified, along with some Ninjago dragons. Good pick-up so far.1 point

This is not just an investment website; it is also a Lego community with many people who build and enjoy Lego. You don't need to $hit on a set when the poster specifically asked for a display case. Obviously if the poster wants to display it in a case, what difference does it make if the techniques used make it a fragile and unplayable?1 point
