It's funny that anyone thinks TLG would be releasing sets that they aren't making sufficient margins on. I'd go the other way and say that sets like this show you how much they overcharge for most everything else.

Hi, Have been reading this site for a little while now and wanted to come out of the shadows. This place is great and I enjoy perusing it most days. I came out of my dark ages about a year ago with a kijiji purchase of two 75055 Star Destoyers. My bank account has been in freefall ever since;) I don't have the time to build as much as I would like but love it when I can and especially with my two boys:) Thought I could help put some funds back in the account by selling a few sets, but it is very true that it is easy to buy and harder to sell! We watched the Lego Batman movie and did most of the 60080 Spaceport. My daughter and I recently finished the Saturn V and are on a space kick now!

Picked up a 10215 local today for $55. The UCS plaque and sticker are missing but other than that the set is in perfect condition (including the stickers).

My wife offered to get up with our son overnight, so I stayed up late to finish Slave I. I usually get to steal an hour a few nights a week after bedtime to build, so it took about three weeks. This afternoon my daughter and I are going to break out her Duplo rocket and Saturn V! PS I finally got some shelves!

This post is directed at small parts sellers, shipping internationally, that like living on the edge. I've come up with a packaging hack to get around the $13.50+ charge for international shipping. Two caveats: -insurance is not offered for this method. -this method is not time tested. I've been shipping small overseas parts orders as "First Class Mail International - Large Envelope" (in PayPal.) The main constraint is the envelope must be less than 3/4". Today I shipped these to Indonesia: I used three pieces of 2-ply cardboard. In one of the pieces, I cut two holes. The pieces with the holes goes in between the other two pieces. The LEGO sits in the nests created by the holes. I taped up the LEGO sandwich. Stuck it in a manila envelope and bathed it in tape. The finished envelope was 1/2" thick and 3oz. Shipping cost to Indonesia was $4.05. I've done this eight times now with no problems. I only ship small parts, torsos, legs, heads, and hands this way. I have avoided sending some more fragile small parts, like helmets using this technique. As has been discussed earlier, sending LEGO in an envelope is not recommended and has it's risks. That said, is anyone else using envelopes for international shipping? I'd be interested in hearing how you do it. Cheers.

My 7 year-old son got the Creator Lighthouse 31051 for his birthday. Of course I had to 'help him' build it. Maybe for his 8th, I can get him an Expert set.

(Disclaimer - the following is aimed at no one in particular, but simply offered as advice that could benefit us all a little.) I wish everyone complaining about getting screwed would realize that you have more of a say and impact than you think - and by accepting these bogus decisions and policies and simply venting here, you are only enabling it to continue. I've had final decisions reversed, had buyers made to pay for bogus "SNAD" return shipping, had negative feedback erased, and more. You simply have to be patient and persistent - and let eBay know that the situation is unacceptable. First make an honest effort to work it out with the customer. Have the evidence available showing that you tried to provide your own excellent customer service, without being cheated. Then escalate the case to managers. Insist on it when they say one is not available. Call back when they hang up. Put in the time. Explain your situation over and over. Document every call and conversation. Reiterate how long you've been a customer, and how terrible the customer service experience you are getting is - all without being a jackass. Simply make your problem their problem, and they will usually become more willing to help you get rid of it. It's rare, but you can even occasionally find a human that cares enough to see the situation the way it is, and do what is right. Yes, they have the power to do that. There is no "buyer always wins" policy. Certainly that is the eBay culture that has developed in the past few years, but each case is handled individually in the end - by humans. Do your part and make them act like it... or else don't complain. Maybe it's not worth the effort to you, and maybe it shouldn't be this way, but deal with things the way they are to the best of your ability and you'll find a lot more satisfaction.

It's very odd how these are coming in and out of stock. Almost like LEGO has told retailers to list them 10 cases at a time. (even though I'm sure that's not the case) no pun.

I would first contact the eBay seller about returning the damaged item to see what he or she says.

Sold 5 bundles of 8 Stormtroopers from 75078 for $33-$35 shipped each on EBay. Buy-in was $5 per set. Still have all the delicious gray pieces from the vehicles for the BL store, but already at 150% ROI.
