I was joking, mate, no offense intended. In all seriousness, no, not many people would likely pay for advice from someone highly intelligent. They pay for expertise (which is a combination of education and experience), because that's far more valuable & insightful.

Add a $5 Ebay Gc. It will not qualify for the promo, but since your total is now over $75, the coupon will trigger (pro-rated , over the qualifying amount). Pro-tip EDIT: Apparently, EBay changed the system. This no longer works. Minifig or other small item trick it is. I've used TRU's Chicken Coop box for this purpose in the past as well (if they are still available online).

I've added a minifigure from a separate seller to use coupons like this in the past.

It can also be a way to spend money to get things like credit card perks. Some credit card churners get some awesome perks once they hit a minimum spend. If that minimum spend is thousands of dollars, buying a somewhat big ticket item like this and breaking even or making close to nothing can help subsidize the churn.....

BrickLink US prices for Used sets in great condition are between $85 and $115. There are none of these sets offered up as New. There was one listed recently as New, and it sold in November 2016 for ..... wait for it ..... $879. Wowza. There's your benchmark. Finding that buyer is going to be hard, but as shown it is not impossible.

I pack my used sets up to make it as easy to build as possible because that is the condition that I want to receive it in as a buyer, not all jumbled and having to sort through everything (I'm looking at you 10181 Eiffel Tower).

Sorry to hear that B-A. This scamming is really getting out of hand. I sold some ISD's recently but so far no returns. I did get a Batcave 6860 returned from a Republic Gunship FBA order in December. Amazon credited me for that one fortunately.

does not really matter how smart he is. stuff like this is all in the marketing. the problems he will have as has been mentioned is that most "advice" givers need to be licensed or certified. financial planers, psychologists, doctors, even plumbers, builders and such. the other issue he will have is most dumb people hate getting advice from intellectuals. they like people who seem to be on their level but have "magical" sources for answers. if he is really smart there are much better ways to make money. if he just likes talking to people and giving advice then by all means give it a shot.

How is this person going to handle the obvious liabilities that pop up when dispensing people with advice on important matters? That would be my main concern if I were to offer such a service.

Prices for old sets are hard to figure at times because of the rarity of the item in sealed condition. Many times people will pay top dollar for an old set for emotional reasons. I have. Maybe a picture would help people value it.

If the buyer reads that whole paragraph, I'd be mighty impressed. I couldn't get past a couple lines before my eyes started to wander and my brain started saying "ack." I mean this respectfully, but if you don't want to claim the set is 100% complete, avoid using "100%" anywhere in your description. We all know buyers don't read descriptions. Keep it simple... "Adult owned, not guaranteed to be complete - i.e. it may have missing pieces and I did not verify the included pieces against the parts list. In good condition and will be shipped partially disassembled." Nobody cares if you built it (though some do like the adult built part) or had it in a closet for a year. ALSO - You really should ship disassembled unless specifically requested by the buyer. Greater chance to have stuff bounce around and get scratched up. If I opened a box with a bunch of partially built sections and some loose bits, I'll likely be frustrated right from the start trying to figure out how to build the damn thing (or that I have to take it apart just to get the build enjoyment).

This set was not particularly high on my wanted list but I found this offer on eBay and was like, OK, let's try the adventure of buying a lot and bricklink a set Seller said that he bought 3/4 of the parts off the pick a brick in the LEGO Shop at Home. I think it's a terrible way to go unless you're buying rare pieces. Told me that it cost him 300 euros. Bought this for 95 euros with shipping. I already know that the minifig and the sticker will set me 100 euros. Now It's a bet on whether the missing part are pricey or not. I read intensely Brick by Brick, Breaking Down Expensive Lego Sets: 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle post by @thoroakenfelder (Thanks a lot) and I know that the pricey 32 White Technic Lift Arm 1X7 Bent and 8 Light Bluish Gray 40 Tooth Technic Gear are included as you can see in the picture. If seller stick to the part list, 4 Trans Clear Technic Gearbox 2x4x3 1/3 should also be inside. I think the last pricey element would be the 10 White slope 2x2x3 Double Convex which most of them form the nose of the shuttle and the support and which I do not see in the picture I'll take the bullet on that. Anyway, I'll let you guys know how how it goes once I'll have my hands on it and did the full inventory Thanks again for this great community!
