  4. Thinktanks have been in business a long time, Lucy's been doing it for years...
  5. They have in the past , we will see otherwise I'm making a trip to NY
  6. I was joking, mate, no offense intended. In all seriousness, no, not many people would likely pay for advice from someone highly intelligent. They pay for expertise (which is a combination of education and experience), because that's far more valuable & insightful.
  7. If he's so damn smart, why doesnt he already know the answers to those questions?
  8. I'm surprised Alpine hasn't posted this already. Or maybe he did and I missed it.

Speeder bikes are the helicopters of LEGO Star Wars.
  10. Over the last 10 days my returns among other things : 3 x AT-AT ( one was returned as balls ) 1 x ISD 1 x Republic Gunship Easy money do we have a what do you think you sold thread ?
  11. High intelligence does not equate to high wisdom. Unfortunately. Smart people make really dumb mistakes all the time.
  12. Add a $5 Ebay Gc. It will not qualify for the promo, but since your total is now over $75, the coupon will trigger (pro-rated , over the qualifying amount). Pro-tip EDIT: Apparently, EBay changed the system. This no longer works. Minifig or other small item trick it is. I've used TRU's Chicken Coop box for this purpose in the past as well (if they are still available online).
  13. I've added a minifigure from a separate seller to use coupons like this in the past.

It can also be a way to spend money to get things like credit card perks. Some credit card churners get some awesome perks once they hit a minimum spend. If that minimum spend is thousands of dollars, buying a somewhat big ticket item like this and breaking even or making close to nothing can help subsidize the churn.....
  15. 16. BrickLink US prices for Used sets in great condition are between $85 and $115. There are none of these sets offered up as New. There was one listed recently as New, and it sold in November 2016 for ..... wait for it ..... $879. Wowza. There's your benchmark. Finding that buyer is going to be hard, but as shown it is not impossible.
  17. "That's no moon...it's a space station." Oh, wait, you wanted inspiration...
  18. I pack my used sets up to make it as easy to build as possible because that is the condition that I want to receive it in as a buyer, not all jumbled and having to sort through everything (I'm looking at you 10181 Eiffel Tower).

Sorry to hear that B-A. This scamming is really getting out of hand. I sold some ISD's recently but so far no returns. I did get a Batcave 6860 returned from a Republic Gunship FBA order in December. Amazon credited me for that one fortunately.
  20. No announcement yet, but they are playing coy on their Facebook page this morning.
  21. A consultant (from Latin: consultare "to deliberate") is a professional who provides expert advice[1] in a particular area such as security (electronic or physical), management, education, accountancy, law, human resources, marketing (and public relations), finance, engineering, science or any of many other specialized fields.
  22. does not really matter how smart he is. stuff like this is all in the marketing. the problems he will have as has been mentioned is that most "advice" givers need to be licensed or certified. financial planers, psychologists, doctors, even plumbers, builders and such. the other issue he will have is most dumb people hate getting advice from intellectuals. they like people who seem to be on their level but have "magical" sources for answers. if he is really smart there are much better ways to make money. if he just likes talking to people and giving advice then by all means give it a shot.
  23. How is this person going to handle the obvious liabilities that pop up when dispensing people with advice on important matters? That would be my main concern if I were to offer such a service.
  24. Just plugging some holes in the personal build collection today: MISB 8038: The Battle of Endor Near mint 6210: Jabba's Sail Barge (with box, instructions, and sticker sheet)

  28. In past flash sales, I've gotten prorated discounts. It'll show before you buy.
  29. If it's not a big seller (TRU, Target, etc.), ask them to revise their price.
  30. wow this is still going on huh
  31. I will be very surprised if it retires this year, but come back to me next year with the same question and you might get a very different answer.
  32. This. If you're just a guy selling some Lego you found in your closet, yeah, ship it however you want. If you're hoping to cultivate a good feedback score, with possible repeat buyers, never ship a used set all or partially assembled. Your call on whether to sort it or check the inventory against a parts list.
  33. I think it will do okay, but 2+ year run and competition with similar sized ships may stall the appropriate selling window... and maybe by then they will release another version that actually shifts out of P.
  34. Raise the prices to close to RRP, then offer miserly points in return. Maybe a reflection of the wider market. Nothing has tempted me of late.
  35. I recalled my at-at since it was marked as defective , this is what I received :
  36. Yes, my most recent occurrence was for Big Ben.

  41. the hounds of hell come a knockin' on your door and you must sacrifice your youngest child born on the 8th day of the 8th month. bridge to cross when you come to it. i'm happy i finally got back to 100% health now that i made it through the 1 year anniversary of my one and only seller ding from angry grandpa who's grandkids laughed at him when he opened up the 18th minifigure disney pack and it wasn't the one that he predicted to the kids ( 2 ursula's and no maleficient) who proceeded to laugh profusely at said angry incorrect grandpa who judging by my limited interaction has never been wrong or at least told they were wrong and laughed at in his entire life. sometimes there is a deeper mission in selling which might be unknown to the seller and the buyer. i think in mis-smooshing that ursula's trident, i might have done some greater good. however, now i take the responsibility of sealed minifigure identification more serious with a 5 step quality assurance process to make sure no boomer is ever laughed at by the grandkids without intending that to happen as a part of the buying experience.

  43. The Mine and Ender Dragon have been good investments for me. We´ll see how the Vilage does when it´s gone but I don´t think it´s a worth seller than ToA. Those Minecraft sets move units at Xmas time but it does seem weird that both themes are going to get such large D2C sets with 2 still on the market, in Europe at least. I´m guessing that Ferris Wheel, ToA and The Village will all retire this year along with SHIELD, Slave and Tie Fighter plus our old friends T1 and TB. 8 in 8 out would be too logical, though.
