So elkthunder became an instant legend at the estate sale today, buying the entire city. I was in the hunt for it but ultimately passed as I don't have the resources or space for such a massive collection. Can't believe he drove 8 hours for it and got it all!
  3. Finished it tonight. A load of extra pieces which made me a little concerned that I missed a step or two. However even with all the extra pieces I was still missing two 1x4 plates which I made due by replacing them with Lego branded parts. Overall the end model is quite stunning in it's sheer size. Part of me wants to cover up some studs on the saucer section but it's a building block model and and not a studio model. The Warp Nacelles are my favorite part of the model. Wish there was a way to keep them lit up for more than a few seconds.

  5. Good ole stolen Lego...lol.
  6. i think you quoted the wrong person, but if you talking Asses, they are everywhere.
  7. When I die I'm hoping that my ghost can attend the estate sale and watch all of you vultures fight over my stash of Joker Steamrollers.
  8. This morning I sold a used / complete 4842 Hogwarts Castle for $305/shipped on eBay. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago for $150 off of my local Offerup. I also purchased a used / complete 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge for $150 from the same person. The Hogwarts covers the cost of my initial buy in on this transaction, so whatever I sell the Queen Anne for will be pure gravy. I love finding local deals like these, as few and far between as they are.
  9. I love deep discounts on retired Lego. The Duplo boxes are dinged up, but at 75% off I'll take it. BAM 10% member discount and $25 off $100 membership coupon.

Funny because I live about 20 minutes from the place, and figured I could get her to lower the price a bit - nope! I ended up getting a few nice custom sets a built falling water, trains, train stations, Big Ben sealed, un building sealed, minifigures, some old game boy games, some board games, and paid up for it 600 bucks! Had to fight to get her down from 815! After elks transaction, I guess she thought all the sets are tons of money. Quite a mess in my house right now
  11. Didn't buy it today, but it came today! Ordered Thursday morning, arrived Saturday morning. That FedEx truck must have done 0.5 past lightspeed!

7130 Snowspeeder and 7180 B-Wing completed. They are in almost mint shape.
  14. I didn't get to post yesterday, but I picked up the Snowspeeder and R2 online as an early Father's Day gift and then hit the Lego Store to spend some gift cards. I picked up Slave I (I have decided I will never find a discount) and Yoda here decided that she also wanted a "rocket ship." I love that she is getting into all of this with me!

  16. BAM Pro-tip: I believe the new-member email coupons are "perpetual use"... that is, I'm pretty sure I've used mine (same ones) again and again.
  17. Damn, I was hoping for a Joker Steamroller sale story.
  18. Built this since it was may the 4th. Thanks to Tabby Boy for the sale.

I'm sure elkthunder will have a good story when he gets home tonight- he's probably still there packing up. Must have gotten about 30 modulars- about 1/2 are custom. The layout was amazing, but I didn't have time to admire it.
  23. Hopefully not any time soon so that my stash has time to "mature" and make it worth your while.
  24. Maybe I am alone here on this...maybe not, but after looking at my 10129 on my shelf for the last decade, I can safely say that this set does not excite me. Sorry to be a Party Pooper.

  28. I'm going to go with "has she got a sister?"
  29. I was finally in a position where I had money and could make a pilgrimage to the Salt Lake City Lego store to get this bad boy and finally build it. The one thing I want to say that seems a bit odd and bums me out a bit, is the fact that they use two rubber rings to connect the bottom portions of the wings. I wonder if to get the angle they had to go this way, or if there actually could be a way to keep it up without using the rings. Now I know some of you guys have whined about the old snowspeeder, but seriously this thing is beyond beautiful in person. It was a satisfying build and has some serious weight behind it. For those that are on the fence, just fork over the money and buy it!
  30. I just finished building a MOC of FW38 from last season. Getting started on the FW40.
  31. 150 elements and 40 stickers... overly cringed. took me almost 90min to finish this one because of those freaking stickerz. Other than that great little build for fairly good price. Great little details for such scale. (huge F1 fan here)

Even though they are heavily marketing the "ultimate collectors series" thing, I feel like TLG isn't targetting collectors anymore with these sets. By collector, I mean a person who expects a model which is the absolute best possible representation of a Snowspeeder in Lego, regardless of the cost (within reason). I feel like this model is not the absolute best possible representation of a Snowspeeder. That's not to say it isn't a nice model, but there are some obvious points that could be improved. Collectibility also implies exclusiveness / scarcity, which will not be the case for this set at all. Maybe my definition is wrong and they are going for a different type of collector or even completionists. Now I still think this is one of the best looking Star Wars sets out there. I think it looks better than the old one, though maybe it just looks more "modern". In any case, I don't have a 10129 so for me it's great. But I would have been happier if they did something new. There's only about 26 UCS sets so far, so it's kinda silly to have two duplicates already. If they keep them coming at this rate, we'll have a new Falcon, Y-Wing and Star Destroyer in the next five years. Meanwhile they could release AT-AT, A-Wing, Nebulon, Venator, Republic Gunship, Sail Barge, ...
  33. Somebody else's May The 4th was better than yours. A dude from Singapore actually posted this on Facebook.
  34. 10212 was challenging as well, only in white.
  35. Brick Separator Train Station - Confirmed!
  36. I'd rather post here than do more work in the office. Just finished and not counting mini-figures as any gauge of completion cause many have heads or torso's missing. * Mos Eisley 75052 - missing zero pieces, at least that I can remember * Desert Skirff 9496 - Missing 3 pieces, the two back larger brown ones and one clear piece for the stand * Tie Advanced Prototype 75082 - Missing 1 piece, the top hatch * The Phatom 75048 - missing zero pieces *Working on 7965 - just started book 2. so far so good Then there are another 10-15 or so sets in the lot ranging from small to medium builds (Monsters 9468, I know I have 1/2 of kylo ren's ship, Ninja house 70728, down to some ninja saucer things and racers). I would guess that I got more instructions than what is in there based on the mini-figures or parts of mini-figures included, but I'm hopeful I can complete a bunch more. All for $100 which was pretty awesome. I'm debating on parting out the falcon or selling it as is when done. I already have one for myself and after paying myself about a quarter per hour I'll be able to break even on this bulk lot fairly easily and move onto the next one.
