  4. Ok here is what I have. I feel quite certain 34 bags is the magic number. 3 of those 34 bags are "soft plastic bags" with multiple bags inside. I have two extra bags of parts that are identical to 2 of the bags pictured. they total the 1 pound overage I stated previously. I will report back if I end up with no missing pieces. So that way we can confirm, that this is indeed the exact bag count. All plates are accounted for too BTW. Fingers crossed!!

  6. I ended up winning 2 auctions for the Celebration Detention Block Escape sets with early bids that I completely forgot to cancel (too many coaching t-ball games & 1 on 1 drills with my son) . However, I bought the day Celebration ended. Unlike other Celebration and SDCC Lego items, this one never really bottomed out near the end of the 1st week after the release ( stayed above $190 on avg). Ended paying $180, 182 and $185 w/ shipping. Still a good chance prices will hit $180 on avg this week for this looking, I'll be cracking open one of them after my current business trip for a build review blog or post

  7. small sets matter and are quite proper to include. selling something through fulfilled by amazon , these smaller sets sold on a much larger volume basis offer much greater profit, little profit risk if a few go missing, and can usually be picked up at 30% discount before any magic, which means it takes hardly anytime after EOL before you are doubling your money. the hard part becomes how to source enough sets without getting banned by a retailer but if you can do that, super easy money. just look at whichever little pink box is slated to retire next and load up - currently its Ariel's Dolphin Carriage. this can be had now for $11.99-12.99. it will sell for $36+ within a year of EOL. multiply that by 200 and you don't pay much attention to the bubble speculation threads anymore. and the best part is you load up a few large boxes ship them in and then sit back and count the money while amazon takes cares of the fulfillment. also small sets like these go under the scammer's radars so that becomes a non-issue. for whatever reason, these little sets also seem to get ignored by the hoarding crew and the higher demand because of lower price point combined with a modest seller count is favorable.

  8. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, but it is a deal if you have a child with a birthday. My local TRU has run out of the Geoffery plush toys that are given out as a birthday gift for kids enrolled in Geoffery's Birthday Club. Instead of the plush toy, they're giving out the Geoffery Lego sets. I think my daughter was happier with the Lego than she would have been with the plush anyway. YMMV depending on your store, but the local TRU manager said that corporate is out of the plush toys, not just that store.

  10. @exciter1: If we're still thinking about a sticky (I know you've added the big red wheel to the first post - though it erroneously claims $0.50 for every spin, should be $0.05), you might want to add this link too: https://www.shopyourway.com/tag/magic-sweeps-links-codes/15719063/recent-activity All sweeps bonus codes listed that are known to date. Also, in case folks hadn't seen this yet, there are 3 bonus games listed under the "XTRA" tab in sweeps (here's a direct link: https://www.shopyourway.com/app/20750/l) - spinning those daily has given me ~250-500 points each day so far (but I only discovered these just before the weekend).

  11. Found one retro space guy out of two boxes that had been rummaged through. I'll say he looks a lot better in person than the reviews show. My kids think he looks fat due to the round belly. But aren't all minifigs fat? The sand green suit and orange/yellow cape and helmet look great though:

  12. My wife and I went to Game Stop recently and found a treasure (10+) of Dimensions Green Arrow Polybags. The cashier said they'd been sitting there forever and wished they were gone , so we gladly obliged him . Posted straight to ebay, and sold all for more than $20 each! Went in later to see if we could snag some more. A different guy was there, and he first tried to act like he didn't know what we were talking about. Another girl then opens the draw to reveal they still had some left (to his obvious dismay), and then he says he can only get them with a purchase. We happily buy a couple of the 50% off Dimensions fun packs (ET for $6!) and get 2 more! Immediately posted and sold!

  16. It depend on the reason for return . You will def know about it but if Amazon owns up to their mistake they will issue a reimbursement upon return of the item to their FC . As far as whether FBA is good for big retired sets it depends on how much risk you are willing to take and what your business model is.. it is an individual call but I cap my risk at $350-$400 personally . ( got greedy once and it backfired )

  18. I love the small/medium sets. Easy to store a high quantity, easy to pack up & ship, plus the no worry super low postage costs. Large sets are a complete pain (from buying, to storing, to packing, to shipping, to added scam concerns, etc).

  25. The image was being linked from another size (imgur) so it's probably something funky with your browser and the embedded class style used to display it. I changed the original post to include a direct link and the image. The image now appears pretty small since it's so massively long but you can click to download/view. PS You probably didn't realize since the image wasn't appearing but quoting the single image made for a veeerrryyy long scroll past the same image twice.

  28. Just received two of these directly from the Cathedral and they are really impressive! I can confirm it is from Bright Bricks and made by Duncan Titmarsh. I found a couple of photos on Catawiki and some additional info: " A rare Lego Certified Professional set. Chester, the capital of Cheshire, is situated by the river Dee below Liverpool. Important attraction of the town is the cathedral. In 2015 Chester Cathedral and Lego Certified Professional Bright Bricks released a Lego version of this cathedral. This set is almost impossible to find and a collectors item. Chester Cathedral released a new set at the end of 2016. A beautiful replica of a statue from the sculpture garden: the water of life’. This year, Chester cathedral released a Lego version of its famous organ. The set is limited (500), numbered (109 of 500) and is sought after among lovers. In the box you will find a certificate of authenticity. Set from 2017, 1.095 pieces."

  35. Effort is minimal to be honest. Live in London and have good contacts at TRU, SMYTHS and Lego shops who give me the heads up and keep stuff aside for me, including Pakaging from Lego which cuts down my costs. Im also connected up with my local LUG. Wife or mother in law drops packages into post office. I'm just investing to pay for my personal UCS Star Wars and Modulars and then I'm done. From the 'what did I build today' threads you can see that I've already got most of the older, more expensive sets and based on profits banked from my first year, about 80% of the outlay for those sets have been paid for already. By the end of this Xmas season I think I will be done and I will just buy for personal builds since returns are diminishing and it's more about jumping on those deals as well as identifying value. Much like my day job in the city. Although depending on how much the UCS Falcon tops out, this may extend for a little while yet. :-) My wife does ask why I even bother with this approach and not just buy the sets outright, since funds aren't an issue and therefore not bother with the hassle of hunting for deals and storing etc. The answer I give her is that I do enjoy it. From the analysing of sets and determine a good buy in and sell point and then reinvesting that into my personal collection and ultimately the building of those great sets.

  40. This sums it up right here. On top of that the counterfeits only make matters worse. When I got back into Legos after taking an investment break in 2008, I was watching ebay auctions like a hawk waiting for BIN amount on older sets that I for sure would not lose money on if I bought them and resold them at current market value minus ebay fees and shipping. I was extrememly justified in the high cost as I knew that the prices would not go down. Well the SSD I bought at a screaming price of 800 MISB back in 1/16 is now worth at best 800-850 sealed now, with many selling sub $800. I lucked out and sold mine at $900 when i felt the tide turning and only lost about $30 after fees and shipping as the buyer lived a couple hours from me keeping shipping low. If they lived in WA I woulda died. I did the same with any significantly priced higher set, cashing out with a minor loss, back when I bought them, the price i paid seemed nearly bulletproof. The point being is that the justification for paying the sky high prices is now gone, given that the market is no longer a "sure" thing. There are significant cracks in the wall that are forming, with a potential dam about to break. While the golden oldies (Taj, 10179, GC, etc.) will always hold significant value due to the rarity and the fact some collectors just have to have the original, nothing moving forward will ever remotely produce returns like previous and based on buy in will likely not be worth the time to deal with in regards to storage and shipping and listing. It could be conceivably possible to lose money... something previously unheard of in Lego investing unless you just went off the rails with RRP Chima.
