My kids’ birthday is coming up soon and Dad does not like to give the usual gift bags. Last year I found Mixels on sale and mixed in (no pun intended) a few Series 15 minifigs for the gift bag thing. This year the Target BOGO 40% sale hit at the right time and a bit of inspiration hit me. Today I bought two of the 61034 City People in Park sets for $47.18 total and got the minifigs I need for the birthday party. Looking forward to keeping the leftover minfigs for us! Maybe this post will help other BPers and give them ideas for their kid’s birthday parties. This community rocks!10 points

It puzzles me why people choose to post odd stuff in a deals thread.6 points

I'm in Canada visiting family for Passover - stopped at a Lego store and got Joker and Batman Brickheadz along with the Y Wing and U Wing Microfighters. Because of the price in Toronto it broke the $50 canadian barrier and I also got a Beetle Promo set. With the US Exchange rate I ended up getting all of that for about $43.50 American.4 points

Trying to contribute more, this is the latest MOC I've completed. It's been around a few months and I'm trying to figure out how to get better pictures while having no lighting equipment. It's a Neo Futuron spaceship named "Deep Space Sentinel." I had the trans-blue dome panels from old sets and I've always wanted to make a spaceship cockpit with them. It got a little bigger than I'd originally planned. The hardest part was getting a stand built. It meant I had to keep it mostly un-assembled while I figured out a decent stand. I want to do the same thing with the other 80's-90's space themes; make giant spaceships.4 points

Proposal: create a mirror thread called Daily Deals Discussion. Put some code in that copies each entry in DD to that thread (and a sticky to the DDD thread in DD). Then moderate the DD and delete non-deal posts, while allowing discussion in DDD4 points

Check these out: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lego+silent+mary+comparison I've still haven't got round to building mine, but i think it will look ok against QAR, but not the BP. I'm going to mod my BP with an extra hull part, should be easy enough.1 point

saw this built in store today and wow! I went from zero interest to hubba hubba. Not sure I have it in my budget or any space to display it (especially with the impending Snowspeeder) but if I can get a good deal on this someday I definitely want it. Are there pics online of this ship next to the previous 2 POTC ships? I missed out on those but would be curious to see the comparison1 point

The boxes will show "do not open until may 1st"....to that effect. So, unless an employee just doesn't pay attention to the rules or they have none on the shelves and get an exception, good luck. Or, just ask when you get there.1 point

That post is from this past December. All the indications seem to be that everything that was previously announced will still be released, but there probably won't be a third year of releases.1 point

It's kind-a meh. I had some rewards to burn, which helped, plus combined with the BOGO40% gave me a good discount ($4 for LEGO worth $33 MSRP). Plus that helped me earn another reward (since the pre-promo price (i.e. shelf price) counts towards the reward).1 point

I was going to say: Who _IS_ buying christmas stuff this time of year, especially when it's not on sale .... but then I sold a christmas bundle (24-in-1 calendar, snowglobe, reindeer poly) on EBay recently so there are people out there who plan ahead. I'm keeping mine (I've got 15 all bought at $2) till closer to the holidays, and if they don't sell (or the market gets flooded, or LEGO decides that this comes back from the dead), I'll part out the bricks.1 point

I reckon both will be done in q4 this year so you should hold on till then - what difference does 6 months make when they have been kept for years? Both of them have substitute models in the Beetle and Big Ben and this year was the overlap.1 point

Here are some ideas on how to get great deals using the above coupon: Depending on whether the coupon counts the pre-promo price or the post-promo price before applying the $5 off (I've seen both happen), you could get 2 $15 sets for $16 total (or 2 $20 sets for $27 total if the $5 off $30 applies AFTER the 40% off). Especially if the BOGO40 stacks with already reduced pricing, this might be very tempting. Again, depending on how the $5 off $30 applies, this could net you 3 fun packs for $16 or a starter pack for $25. The coupon can be reused, but max 1 coupon per transaction.1 point
