Anyway, just my two cents. Considering that 10179 was a poor seller for $500, if LEGO wants to make money, they would be stupid to just rehash it. If I were LEGO, I would just release a playful set for $300-400, with 10-15 minifigs and a detailed interior. If they are smart, they release EPVII and Han Solo movie expansion packs for it that are also good standalone sets. Going higher would not make sense because it would eat away space from the DS, and we don't have a large SW set in the $300-400 range with the Sandcrawler going away. It would be logical to fill that gap with a money maker. This would be a genuine cash cow, maybe with a top that can be removed as a lid, not like the ugly petal type method of the smaller MF versions. Therefore I would not bet against 10179. Quite the opposite, the release of a set like this would alleviate any concerns about a potential 10179 remake, giving hesitating people confidence to finally buy it, raising the price further.4 points

yup. i sold my 2 75054s because prices are getting bloated for a vehicle that has been remade many times. i saw nothing special about this set compared to my motprized 10178 and 8129. pic from eurobricks edited by me. note: 10178 isn't standing up straight so it appears shorter. link for more details = http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/search.cfm?searchterm=at-at&sort=set_pieces&order=desc here's more at-at comparison pics. see the pic above to know which at-at is which lego set. http://brickset.com/article/12296/review-75054-at-at4 points

Personally, I would be happy with a $1000 giant MF. You confuse my personal preferences with what I think would make the most money for LEGO. And 75105 MSRP was $150, a $400 set would not even compare to it. I think it is perfectly possible to make a compelling MF at that price. Look at the picture below. With a size between the two and with less greebling there is no need to have such a robust and expensive (in terms of piece count) internal structure as 10179 has, so actual interior can take place. It would be still large and detailed enough to be called UCS, with a similar difference in size as we see between UCS and regular Slave I, which is in my opinion one of the best UCS releases ever. Also, if you look at the tendency of the mega releases nowadays, all of them lean towards having play features while maintaining balance between AFOL and kid appeal. Disney Castle, GBHQ and Sandcrawler does that. I don't think the new MF will break this trend, and in that case it will probably be in line with what I described. I see pure display sets restricted to the $100-$250 range these days, simply because relying on hardcore AFOL demand seems to be not enough to make the most expensive offerings sell sufficiently well, especially that many AFOLs actually prefer playfulness maintained, since that is what LEGO means for many.3 points

A couple more holiday builds were finished up with the kids last night and after school today. My daughter finished up the Friends Amusement Park Space Ride 41128 to go with her Hot Dog Van. She's currently saving up for the Roller Coaster and Emma's House which she didn't get for Christmas (though there are several Emma's Houses in inventory). We also built another SW Mos Eisley Cantina 75052. My son sold his that we built last year for $85 before Christmas, but we had already picked up another complete used one for $45 on CL, so we built it again to re-add to the display case. Cool set...I am surprised it hasn't appreciated more than it has.3 points

you still are. Lego often uses faded / blacked out / blurry / translucent images of familiar items in the background of a box front to give the illusion of an action packed image, without accidentally tricking the customer into thinking a Millennium Falcon is contained within the box. If the Falcon was available today that image would still be blacked out. There is no correlation. on a side note, i found a view of the new Falcon interior. Looks "Retro", but i like it.3 points

Per TheForce.net: Luke's saber in many of the early promotional paintings is also either pure white or golden yellow. This is best explained by the fact that Lucas did not initially envision the sabers as colored/animated/rotoscoped; he had planned to do the swords as a practical effect, with those whirling, metal-coated rods delivering the luminous effect. When that didn't work out as well as hoped, he decided to animate them, and at that point, in post-production when the majority of the posters and promotional materials had already been produced, gave them their color. It can be concluded with reasonable certainty that the Kenner toy designers were working with the promotional materials when they gave Luke his yellow lightsaber. Although the film was out in theaters at the time the designers were working, they either a) did not see the film and only worked with the promotional materials given to them, or saw the film and decided to adhere to the promotional material golden saber instead, out of a specific design aesthetic (given that Kenner Luke's hair is the exact same yellow color, and his tan pants match as well).2 points

As the article stated, it really should be zero surprise that a new UCS Falcon will come out in the next year or so, especially with the new Han Solo movie coming out. The question will be the design. Hopefully it is either much better or much worse than the 10179, but an identical set to the 10179 will once again be bad for all concerned. LEGO has a chance to correct their 10188/75159 mistake and give fans something worthwhile to build and collect.2 points

No manuals really cuts the value of the lot down. When I was buying used lots like this, I wouldn't even consider a lot that didn't have the manuals.2 points
