Built these three sets over the past 6 months. To my surprise the Tie Fighter displays the best of the three and gets the most attention from guests, but was a fairly repetitive/somewhat boring build. I think the Firehouse was the one I enjoyed building the most with the interior detail. I've never been a Slave I "junkie" so I sort of anticipated my reaction to it after built to be meh, but it is a nice set.11 points

Off topic - I have been mostly reading the forums lately and I find that there are more people here simply taking from the site (or just announcing purchases without any information, ooh look at me!) instead of contributing something positive. There have been WAY too many negative posts about the future of Lego [your favourite cliché here] and a lot fewer well thought out posts and I miss reading those! Everyone comes from different backgrounds with different goals but these goals seem to be a lot less compatible with any meaningful discussion in the past few months and that's disappointing. I encourage everyone to have a nice relaxing weekend and come back fresh and ready to contribute, instead of bicker over who got what and what should I buy and other less-consequential crap. Buy your Lego, flip it or hold it, or don't buy it. Put the work in and make it work or don't. Be positive or at least be constructive and thoughtful in your negative posts. Thanks to the people that regularly post good, great, or awesome deals or thoughtful posts and that really should be the end goal for everyone, because we all benefit. **EDIT HERE** I'm not old, but get off my lawn! On topic - Kmart - switch tracks $12, work your magic people. - http://www.kmart.com/lego-switch-tracks/p-004W004602817001P?plpSellerId=Kmart&prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2 Kmart had the 60052 Cargo Train for $125-127 but it is currently delisted. I expect this to come back at some point and $127+magic makes this an easy 50% off, if you fancy the set. 60104 Airport Terminal - 20% off - http://www.kmart.com/lego-city-airport-passenger-terminal-60104/p-004W001228588001P?plpSellerId=Kmart&prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4 I have been receiving a lot of $20 on 60 coupons lately and that makes the terminal 40% off, if you like planes7 points

I just picked up 4 of the technic Race Truck $40 each and 1 deep sea operations base $60 at toys r us. They split it into 2 separate orders for me so I could use the $25 gift card when you spend 100 and get 2 cops and robbers minifigures packs so each of my kids could get one. I did not even ask them to do this for me, my toys r us staff is very helpful and goes out of their way for customers. Too bad not all of yours does this. my kids do help them bag their free sets also after they build theirs and come to most of the toys r us events so the staff look out for them.6 points

In the current investment climate, you can throw RRP out the window. If you pay anything close to RRP on exclusives anymore, you'll be struggling to break even after retirement. So many units are being bought during these Walmart/Amazon firesales sans sales tax that I feel foolish for buying EV at my local store for 2x VIP and a dinky promo item. Knock at least 20% off for most exclusives and you've got the real RRP.4 points

for some people its about the thrill of buying and selling TOYS!!!!! that little childhood reward system gets a good work out with mass purchases - especially big sets like SOH. i am sure there are brickpickers for who real money is like monopoly money. there's always a couple of tokin trustafarians or early amazon google investors in these forums. i would do the same if i had access to more capital. i need to get an amazon business account. i would have ordered 3 only bought 1 because of limit - snagged 3 from walmart site to store a couple of weeks ago for same price. up to 5 of these now. i have researched it and even built one (amazon warehouse) - its ugly and huge when built and probably because of its pricepoint, not widely hoarded. also the pee-wee architecture SOH is making you 3x what you paid if you bought at BN using your membership discount and much more if you had gift cards. so that can't bode poorly for this set in the afterlife. it is very discouraging however in light of the persistence of the Tower Bridge. I have 8 of those killing CAGR on the bottom shelf behind some other boxes so i don't have to look at them.4 points

One of these things is not like the other... Great job on the Ant Man sets though. I think you'll do just fine with SOH.4 points

41999 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition I've always been a fan of power function technic sets and this one is one of the best I've built. It's a shame I was in my dark ages until this year, so I had to pay resell price for this set. It's a great set and the colours / stickers used in the set make it really unique.4 points

Stopped in to return some bag smashed stuff today and they called out 90% off summer toys by the customer service desk. I left with all kinds of sand toys, paddle balls, horseshoes, Star Wars lightsaber diving sticks, water balloon 3-man sling shots, squirter tubes, all for like $1.85. Some they were taking 90% off $0.10.3 points

Well, I'll explain why some of the attitudes that you have found on here were interpreted as 'hostile'. Some of us are just regular dudes and gals with day jobs, that do this to supplement their love for LEGO with some cash. We may have one or two SOH, that were purchased and tucked away, waiting for a decent return. With supply/demand ruling the price we all get for our sets down the road, someone buying 20 of these and selling for a 10% profit makes it a little harder for the rest of us with two, waiting for a higher return. Since you have a seemingly large retail arbitrage business on Amazon, it's probably safe to say that you didn't use the affiliate links from this site for your purchase. That is an assumption, and I very well could be wrong. Apologies if I am. So we aren't hostile, maybe calling it jealously is more accurate. To get some love, it would be awesome if you could share how you picked up Birds for $15 each. This site is very give AND take.2 points

Yeah, because last year, everyone did that too, and none of the exclusives are doing much out of the gates. Sure, you could sell your red 5s and make about a 10% return, but overall most of those sets have hit a wall compared to previous years. Expecting this years crop to perform better than last year? Well, then some might have taken the blue pill, but I choose to be more realistic. I do think some sets HAVE potential, don't get me wrong. Lego will retire hundreds of sets, and of those maybe a handful (like 10) will do something interesting and make people money. But, that's a lot of hit and miss that keeps getting a larger ratio every year. In the end the sets everyone thinks are going to do well, will in turn be horded by more and more people since others will be thinking they have the next 3x set, and in the end the oversaturation of resellers will cause it to stagnate and not even hit last years levels. So, am I excited that Ecto1, or Pet Shop is retiring? Not really. I love the Pet Shop, don't get me wrong... it's a fun build, and a beautiful set to look at when done. But, so many have them waiting to resell them, and if you judge from the previous modulars that went out into retirement, well while they have doubled in price over a two year period, there's no saying that the Pet Shop is going to perform better than GE, or the FB! More than likely it wont. More than likely it will take 3 to 4 years to reach that level, and after fees and shipping (which goes up every year), whose to say by the time it finally does hit the 300.00 US mark, that it will net the same gain that selling a GE would during the same time frame. More than likely it won't. At that point you are holding large sets that take up a lot of space, and making less and less money as each year goes on.2 points
