  2. After coming back from a harsh 2,5 weeks in Nigeria I decided to buy myself a present....the S.H.I.E.L.D. HeliCarrier....YES! I really wanted to have this one in my collection and the double VIP + London Bus pulled my trigger. I was having doubts, or this magical vehicle OR the Sydney Opera House,,,,but due to my aviation background I decided to buy the Avengers ship!

  5. Hello LEGO fans... After months of discussion about fake, counterfeit, knockoff, illegal, garbage, and crap sets and companies, the BrickPicker administration and moderator team have decided to remove this discussion completely from the BrickPicker forums. I had hoped that people could discuss these topics in a mature manner, without promoting them, but that failed miserably. It is unfortunate that there is a small, but vocal, group of people who support these illegal products and will try to push these products at any given chance. For whatever reason, they consider these products legitimate. BrickPicker does not... THIS IS A LEGO FAN SITE and will remain so. While we approve of discussions about compatible and legitimate brands like Mega Bloks for example, any discussions about intellectual property stealing companies like Lepin or others will be removed and members might face suspension or permanent ban from this site. We are not alone in this type of topic restriction. Eurobricks implemented a similar policy and I quote (from their site)... Remember: Eurobricks is a LEGO fan site, thus we want most topics here to be LEGO related. If you find you are posting mostly non-LEGO topics then maybe you have picked the wrong site. Clone and Competitor Brands: A Clone brand or competitor brand, is a product manufactured by a legitimate company. For Example Oxford,Mega Blocks. Kreo or Character Building. These are companies that do not infringe copyrights and provide a competitor product, such as licenses and themes LEGO do not produce. It is fair to discuss, compare and share these brands and their products in the Community section of the Forum. Bootlegs, Rip-Offs and Fakes: These manufacturers copy designs and minifigures from LEGO, other companies and even fans, to produce their own infringing products which they then sell, often at knock down prices. There are hundreds of names attached to these products and varied quality between them. We will no longer accept discussion and sharing of these products on Eurobricks. Most of these "brands" are facing legal cases and we have no interest in supporting them by providing a place for their criminal products to be seen. I applaud the administration of Eurobricks for installing such a policy and I ask other major LEGO fan sites to follow suit. We are all here for the love of LEGO sets and bricks and these knockoff products not only endanger the LEGO secondary markets, but the primary one as well. On a personal note, I am sorry it took so long for me to realize that discussing these illegal products was bad for our site and LEGO fans in general. The supporters of these counterfeit and knockoff products will have to discuss them on some other site, hiding in the shadows. Thank you for your time... Ed Mack

  6. Well, I agree. Affiliate money is decreasing and costs are increasing. All your points are valid. First the update...then we can work on your points. The new update looks very slick. The Brick Classifieds will be brought directly to this site and that looks stunning. We are going to have a huge LEGO store with hundreds of retailers. We have been discussing all these options. There is a ton of data out there to be had and in order to share it, we will probably charge for it.

  7. Built the latest Star Wars advent calendar today. I only opened the minifigures I'm sure to keep. The droids are great, as is the snow Chewbacca. Some mini builds look really good, e.g. Slave I. Also, it would've been nice to get a stand for the TIE Interceptor mini build.

  8. in USA there is no event today. On Sunday there is a "build & play" event, but that's it...AFAIK, the LEGO stays behind at the store. Edit: USA does get one free build: Frankenstein "make & take" on Saturday, 10/29. Edit edit: I'm totally talking about Toys R Us.

  10. I would like to take this opportunity to suggest considering making BPer a paid member site. It seems in the time since I joined a lot has changed, perceptions of lego investors, knockoffs, rereleases, swaths of new members who have no interest in doing any serious research and just want to be spoon fed. I would also suggest it is perhaps time to give something back to the members who provide data to the site, you know the important data on what sets are not hoarded and are ripe picks. I like the idea of brickfolio, however recently I have begun using it a little and fully began to realize how valuable providing this info is if many members do. Perhaps incentivizing this in the form of exclusive membership that would grant some access to this information. I also realize how valuable this website is to myself and investors and want to acknowledge that and show my appreciation somehow perhaps monetarily, but feel the value of the data also needs to be recognized. I imagine this is not going to be a popular post but am suggesting anyway.

  21. I did some Ninjago building (Tiger Widow Island/The Lighthouse Siege) and just finished 70594. The minifigures are not my cup of tea. There's two exceptions though with one being Wu (which I already had from his own dragon set) and the other being Echo Zane (without his hairpiece). The small robot Tai-D is neat, too. Also, the Lighthouse Siege is a set where the light-brick function really shines (pun intended).

  25. While I understand there will be pushback on this, it was a toxic thread. Even though there was some valuable information to be gained, it was overshadowed by constant promoters of the illegal product. I have neither the time nor the inclination to constantly monitor fools who want to make up reasons why these ripoff bricks should be considered legitimate. After months of discussion and thought on this matter, we feel it is best not to give these companies free publicity, good or bad. I of all people do not want to restrict or hinder intelligent conversation, but there is a growing number of Lepin supporters that I do not want to give voice to. If you would like, Jeff and I could come up with a private group chat that only approved members will be apart of. This way, you can still share ways to combat this scourge. Let us know if this interests anyone.

  27. Check out Amazon! They have discounted some Star Wars sets. I picked up a Sandcrawler shipped and sold by Amazon for around $269 (with a $10 amazon credit including tax)! They have also discounted other sets such as Ewok Village for around $218. Head on over and check it out! If you have an eligible Discover card, you can even get 5% back!

  37. I just want members to realize that this will not be a "free-for-all." There will be strict rules and limitations in the thread. It is about sharing information that can help combat these criminal resellers and illegal products. The way I look at it is that you are either "for LEGO" or "for Lepin(or similar crap)." There is no "grey" area.

  38. Unless something dramatically changes, I don't see a reason to continue the conversation... Person A: Someone posted a fake set on eBay! Gasp! Person B: Reported that listing! Person A: Thanks for helping! Person C: Me too! Person D: I can't believe LEGO is letting this happen! Person E: Get your head out of the sand, the sky is falling! Person F: I love me some Fakes! Person D: You're unbelievable! Person B: Don't buy that junk! Etc... we know the score, we see what LEGO, eBay, Amazon are and aren't doing. Le sigh...

  39. Yes but respectfully no. The caveat is that this site is mainly about investing in Lego. Recent and not so recent events relating to fakes have a very real impact on Lego investment and should not be buried under the sand. How to spot fake pieces and minifigs, which sets have been copied, calling out fake sellers and the line TLG take on this all have their place here as much as daily deals, retirement , new release or bubble speculation, in my view.

  40. This is very true. Of course there are also a lot of sellers in Germany, but a lot of buyers prefer to buy locally only even if it doesn't always make sense.

  41. The numbers posted so far seem low to me. I've seen the pictures in the stockroom thread, you guys don't mess around. I'm up to 7,7,6,7 now. Average buy-in for the TIE's and Slave's was about 170€, SC 280€ and EV 200€. The only retired UCS sets I have left are one Y-Wing, two B-Wings and a Red Five.

  42. My NISB stash: 1, 1, 1, 2. Plus another Slave-1 which I have built and on display. (And of last year's retired UCS sets I have 2 Red Five and 2 Tumblers NIB). By the way, my stash of Doctor Who sets is: 3 MISB, and another one built and on display. After official retirement t will go up in value in The Netherlands, but I don't expect spectacular profits with it. Since the Doctor Who set is only available through Lego LEGO Shop at Home here, the supply will be limited. I'm really small-time compared to most Brickpickers here.

  43. I have two complete and sealed Ewok Villages. Depending on how the set value develops after retiring I might just sell some of the figures and keep the rest as an add-on to my built Ewok Village. So due to this uncertainty I wrote "1.5".

  45. So, I ordered 3x 50ct plastic cups during the 100% office supply deal a couple weeks ago for about ~$24. I'm on the max trial, and it said I saved $105 in shipping cost. That's a bit exaggerated, I thought. Yesterday my order came, three large boxes arrived, 1000ct each. Don't know what happened there. Double checked, clearly says 50 on the invoice. Best thing was my wife has been desensitized by the constant flow of Kmart boxes. When I tried to explain it wasn't my fault, I didn't order 3000 plastic cups, she said, "oh, I thought you must've gotten a really good deal on them." That's trust =)
