Couple of recent builds. Claas Xerion was a great build apart from me missing a cog from the gearbox and having to tear it half apart again. At £80 it was probably the best value set I've built in a while in terms of build time and enjoyment. New RO At-St next to its big brother. I can see a lot of these being sold as they'll be coveted by OT AFOL's aswell as kids. Finally I gave one of the architecture skyline sets a shot. See what i thought of them and if they'll be worth investment. I just can't see how these will catch on. The buildings are so small to show any details. I love the normal architecture sets, I'm amazed how they can create detail at small scale but these skylines are simply too small, I can't see many people posting over the odds for a complete set.4 points

Hi Folks. I'll do the same as last year (copying Mos' original idea) to support the children of NJ's St. Paul School. For each "LIKE" THIS SPECIFIC post gets, I'll put $1 toward the raffle. Thanks, JA Is Online4 points

This is an other type of deal, this week at Rite Aid there is a deal to buy $50 of various children's medicine get $25 TRU card and buy $30 get $10 Plenti points. So buying $60 of qualifying products gets $25 TRU card and $20 Plenti Points. With this week's coupons, it will be a money maker. This blog post explains it a lot better. http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2016/10/02/21-00-moneymaker-robitussin-advil-dimetapp-at-rite-aid/ Also there's also a 50% bonus for transferring Amex rewards to Plenti right now.3 points

Anecdotal, but I've made a solid 60% ROI by quick flip parting these out (sold through a half dozen). Every set I've had 50%+ parting out returns on quick out of the gate have gone on to become respectable post-retirement earners.3 points

After a number of disappointing "sales" and "deals", this time I would like to send an honest "Thank you!" to LEGO for their EU Force Friday offer. Because I got a Slave 1 for 199,99€ - 28,45€ in VIP Points - 10€ LEGO Coupon - 6€ Cashback (Shoop.de) - 5€ Amazon Coupon (Shoop.de) (=150,54€) + First Order Storm Trooper + unannounced Spider-Man Super Jumper. Best "official" deal of the year so far (but it might not any get better than this).3 points

My son built this today, and I helped in spots. Overall, this set is cool to see in person, but it's also a little underwhelming. My main problem with it is the space in the cargo area - it's extremely small compartment, and you might be able to get 2 mini's in it, but good luck getting more than that. There are many elements of the design that are cool, though. I especially like how they made use of the flick fire missile technique. I was wondering why the flat plates were left loose but during the final bag it became evident, as you push a flick missile into the spring loader, a blue plate slightly rises up where you use that to press down and fire the missile. But, the lack of compartment space is a drag. This is no republic gunship or even First Order Transporter. Overall, it's ok. My son loves it though and has been playing with it for hours, so I guess that is what ultimately matters.3 points

If Canadian threshold is $75 then it translates to about 70 cents US2 points

Fair enough - poorly worded post by me. I meant films coming up to put the attention on ghost rider. I enjoyed the cage films but don't feel they have anywhere near the popularity of the Avengers franchise.2 points

so going on day 2 now with this being OOS - call to check availability at usa/canada which is usually a skip away from SOLD OUT. meanwhile instock limit 10 in europe. Software glitch? has any $89.99 set ever had a 3 month life? maybe this is a price mistake/erroneous tag or not going to have in stock by xmas. or perhaps even a genius marketing move designed to fleece compulsive overthinking LEGO investor/gamblers like myself into thinking its going super early. but then i start to over thinking again and say well, there are sure a lot of $80-100 price point sets taking up that shelf space and maybe one of the big guys goes early? yes but this is a large Rebels set and has "Tie" ins with the show foolish to end this run now before xmas - downright stupid. then i say raptor escape and i lose my marbles. this is the only set from the summer wave i was going to put money into but was planning on waiting now i'm looking for a soft cushy pillow and putting on some corduroy before i take my seat on the fence.2 points

Well went all out today, I will have enough VIP points to get 2 Castles this week to hopefully sell for Christmas. I was Lucky enough to get all these at one Lego Store, as for where all some Star Wars sets, I have plenty Ewok Villages, Sandcrawlers, Slave 1, Tie Fighters.2 points

Agree on the derailing. First thing my kids do when a train comes out: max speed! Second thing: build barricades on the track and smash trains into that.2 points

Welcome! Don't let crazy eBay and Amazon pricing confuse you (no you havnt become a millionaire overnight) those prices are meant for people who don't know better. Best bet is to look here and Bricklink.com for "reasonable" prices.1 point

The Cage films are widely disliked. That's why they let the rights lapse and Disney got the character back.1 point

I have very strong feelings about the buildable figures. I think that they look terrible and for $5 less, I can get the Hasbro Black series figure and it looks good, has good poseability and is unlikely to pop apart when I shift it. But, I also am taking a look at the Super Hero buildable figures from 2012. Looking at Bricklink, sales stats for the last 6 months shows that of the 6 figures released, the best seller was Green Lantern. 9 sold. for the rest, most of them couldn't even average 1 a month for the last 6 months. They retailed for $14.99, and I remember seeing them hanging around on clearance forever. Sure there may be more demand for Star Wars than Super Heroes, but I have a giant box full of Bionicle and Hero Factory parts that I can't sell for $2 lb bulk, and other LEGO sells for $5 lb quickly. Some people may make some money on these, but I have no faith that there is going to be much demand. I said so a year ago when the first series was released, and I'll keep saying it. LEGO had no faith in their TFA Constraction figures when they marked them down so early, the movement in stores is slow. I just do not see any signs that there's demand for them now, much less 2-5 years from now.1 point

TheBrickFan is reporting a rumor this morning (so take this with a big grain of salt), that Supergirl and Green Arrow Dimensions polybags will be part of a promotion at Game Stop for Black Friday.1 point

I disagree about the buildables I see them having a demand later on. It's the "action figure" for Lego. Some more than others but overall I see them being collectible later on. I think it's going to come down to how good this movie is. If it's good and people overall like it then yes these sets will do well. If it's a bust no one will care to collect them.1 point

sorry for thenewb question but why does it make us better off without x2 VIP ?1 point

I like this set... and I kind of hate it. If it had been a plain ol' Vader's TIE Advanced, then I'm all in. As it is, $89.99 is overpriced, plain and simple. The A-Wing build is nice, but in this set, it's an albatross around the TIE's neck.1 point

Funny story. A couple weeks ago when I saw the London Bus promo come up in a thread, I cursed myself for missing that promo. When I want to the garage tonight to look for the Mystery Mansion to build, I realized that I had three sets of the London Bus. I was very happy with this discovery but also very troubled that I had forgotten that I ordered the VW, T1, and Mini Cooper during that promotion. My Lego addiction maybe getting out of hand.1 point

This does make me laugh. The first decent set to retire since Xmas and were turning this thread in to a democracy regards why we shouldn't invest, short shelf life = not popular so avoid, long shelf life = don't invest massively horded!!! There's no pleasing some people. At least Lego have actually retired something, be grateful for that!! It's a good set, with a big fan base, and at a low buy in can easily achieve 2 x RRP.1 point
