  1. Our countdown clock:
  2. I kind of built the Mini Cooper... This one has been a long time coming. I had to make a number of substitutions since the parts don't exist in orange - mostly on the ass end. The boot lid looks better in person than in pictures. Yes, it's left hand drive with a rear spoiler and the antennae at the back. I'm missing two black 1x2 2/3 slopes for mirrors. Source material is parked out in the garage.
  3. It shouldn't be too much longer now. It looks like they're putting the finishing touches on it now.
  4. today i went to a Walmart i had never been to before in Manchester CT - i had to take my car in for service near by and the app said there were some $40 Kylo Ren shuttles and some 50% off minecraft. Get to the toy section - not seeing any clearance though the minecraft sets are loaded but unmarked so i snag a couple Nether Fortress and Desert Outposts for 50% off. I ask the toy dept manager/clerk guy if there is a clearance section with LEGO he points me in a general direction - walk over towards the clearance sign walk around the corner and run into a load of 50% off $15 Architecture sets ("little" Big Ben, Berlin, Venice, and Lincoln Memorial) - so I did the quick double take and then swiped the shelf into my cart and hightailed it out of there . i've never seen architecture in a walmart before much less on a clearance aisle. it was a good day.
  5. No, he signed up for this. Now the pic needs to include a newspaper as well to make sure it's legit.
  6. I've been selling $20 battle packs for a while now. LEGO is just behind the curve.
  7. Me: "I got you some thing" Handing her CMF 16 pack Wife: "It's the Banana Guy!" Me: "How'd you know" Wife: "I felt his banana"
  8. Eventually, LEGO will lose its STAR WARS license to LEPIN and all the sets will increase in value.
  9. Finished up the Pet Shop. Fun build. Nothing really special to warrant it being alive still. Time to put this old dog to rest. But I enjoyed the build. Here is a pic of the build and one with my GE. It's actually looking like some building is happening. But I'm going to sell off the PS. Just wanted to give it a build. On to TH next!
  10. 4 points
Not quite sure where to put these but my big guy turned 6 a couple weeks ago. This is what he would look like as a lego minifig. Artwork done by a friend of my mother's who used to do stuff like this for parties and what not...she's since retired but doesn't mind doing it for her friends.
  11. @dcdfan not enough minifigures to make everyone happy. This should do the trick: and with 30,000 pieces, it should be big enough.
  12. Do you think Jeff Bezos is smooshing them all?
  13. A $500 cash sale is still better than $580 shipped on eBay.
  14. Higher LEGO retail prices are great for investors with stockpiles of retired sets. They raise the bar on pricing, and over time, can give the illusion that even overpriced items (on retired sets) are cheap.
  15. New pic every day, please.
  16. As long as the countdown ends like this i am down with it.
  17. Rumor has it.....double VIP points this weekend (5th-7th). hope it's not just a rumor...
  18. I just had this weird vision of Alpine in pasties???
  19. $510 shipped for a complete Lego Simpsons set : NISB Simpsons House NISB Kwik E Mart Complete series 1 and series 2 Simpsons CMF In a very nice Lego custom display case. All 3 Simpsons Dimension sets.. $51 back in eBay bucks. ..
  20. 41999 LE Crawler. Was in my "dark ages" until few months back so missed my opportunity to get this set. I've always been a fan of Technic RC sets and this one just looked amazing. I actually bought the porsche set aswell but decided to sell it after seeing its reviews and when I realised you could not add any power functions to it.
  21. But does it come with a brick separator?
  22. And this is exactly why people are destined to be disappointed. "the best set of all time" is setting the bar awfully high.
  23. I'd be bored too with all the $$$$ in my bank account .
  24. Uh oh. I may not have thought this thing through. Going to do my best. My 4 year old isn't happy that I stole his Death Star for this effort.
  25. That would be cool if they had multiple builds. Time to round up the gang.
  26. I thought for sure you were getting a rush order at Staples for a cardboard standee cutout. Oh well, maybe for the next UCS set.
  27. What do you mean too high? It's $#$#$#$ gone. You may run like Hayes. but you hit like EXciter1!
  28. used black pearl (complete) € 20
  29. I'll just start now by saying, I hate it.
  30. Toys"R"Us will have their latest in-store Lego building on Saturday August 27. Like similar past events, it begins at 12PM and it's suggested to arrive early with the kids. 32. Speculation. 10188 will be fine. My opinion is anyone who invested in a 400 set and had an inclination to try and sell within a year or two didn't think it through. Ssd is hanging out at the current price, it will be there for a while. I sold 12 and got all my money back, my other 18 won't be sold for quite some time. Patience is the rewarder for big expensive sets. This year has been a relatively flat year for growth. But the previous three were stellar. If there were no movies to keep interest in Star wars then I would be worried. I'll get out of these netting a double after expenses of my basis, not before.
  33. It is for 3 packs at least since 7/23, per this Q/A portion of the listing. This should be interesting to watch
  34. Because it's the evil version of Cap that said Hail Hydra.
  35. I agree. I would not expect a large departure from a proven formula on such a big investment by TLG. I am expecting the minifigs and play features to be fantastic and a nice upgrade. The majority of the build however is probably going to be awfully familiar. Most importantly it will give TLG the confidence to give us our most desired UCS at the $600 - $800 price points in the future. Baby steps.
  36. I love those gunships, too. Always reminded me of Vietnam era helicopter assaults with Hueys and Chinooks. Nothing really makes "sense" scientifically in the SW universe. That's why we love it.

Looks cool, but no, no, no...this cannot replace the awesome Republic Gunship in my opinion. That is such a great troop transport and assault vehicle with the pod turrets on the sides and wings. Man I love me some PT vehicles!
  38. Hah, anything is on the table. I might bricklink some of those orange cylinders to test. It might be ok since I used more black on the roof than the original green. I'm going to start with the black grill though... This is really my first MOC type change to any set and I'm quite happy. I'm a set purist but we've got the green one too. Now what to do with all those extra green and white parts?! Edit: oh and my partner wants the rally lights on the real car so those will soon match.

  40. can i have your collection then
  41. That's excellent advice. I'm already looking at the Rogue One sets, and seeing a lot of similarities to the Force Awakens sets. When you do an apple to apples comparison 4 of the 5 sets are equivalent to 4 sets that are currently being discounted at walmarts. This does make me realize that buying those sets at 50% off shouldn't be an issue, but I don't know if there is going to be much profit for those that start purchasing during the final days when the remaining sets of that wave are sitting at TRU for 110% RRP. Especially when the Rouge One sets will be out, and most of them are too similar to the sets that are retiring, except for the minifigures. This is also the problem with the new death star in that it's just a too recent refresh. This is where a lot of us could get burned quite quickly if you start investing to deeply into some of these sets. It's almost like these yearly films are going to just dilute the line very quickly. While we probably wont see many rehashes of these same vehicles and sets, the similarities to other sets being released will be close enough that it will almost be like a rehash. So....it's definitely a new phase, I think. I just look at half the sets from this year in the Star Wars wave and there wasn't a lot of creativity. Disney can ruin this star wars line quickly, and I don't know if I want to be holding a lot of stuff. I've seen this happen many times before and I think we are starting to see the downside to the lego star wars line as it becomes oversaturated and overvalued. This death star will be a defining moment in more ways than one.

Found this at an estate sale and thought it was pretty cool. It's a limited edition catalog from 2002.
  43. I am boycotting this set. So far I am doing fine keeping my word.
  44. You know those comments saying don't post leaked photos until they are officially announced, guess who they were aimed at.
  45. It's not printed......its just a series of really small stickers that you have to line up perfectly.
