  1. I finished building the 75060 UCS Slave 1 the other day. Here's a quick size comparison between this set with the Hasbro POTF toy (uses the Kenner 1980 toy mold) and set 8097 from 2010. After everything was done, 75060 is a really nice big set and looks great on display. If I had any "beef" with 75060, it's the fact despite this ship being big (it's true minifig scaled), cargo room is room. I fully understand UCS sets aren't for "play" but I expected an easier time for my son to insert and remove the Carbonite block since it's a highly advertised feature. Luckily, the engine exhaust area has a folding upside down light gray "T" section that is helpful if minifigs or the Carbonite element gets stuck inside. 8097 is better in this area but that set was designed for younger fans. I did find 75060 kinda fragile since there's isn't a single spot to hold it from while moving it from say, your build area to the display location I found holding the ship's top and stand (while on the ship is sitting in the stand) was the best way for me to move it from the basement to my son's room. For some reason, my excitement was pretty high when i started the build. After finishing it, I remember being more happy after building 8097. Regardless, this set is a "must have" for Star Wars fans ...especially for The Empire Strikes Back fans like me.
  2. I think what people are trying to tell you, especially because you've just started posting, is that that you need to become more knowledgeable before making statements of opinion. You've admitted that you've had very little exposure to the Star Wars franchise, yet you're making pronouncements about the product line and the investment potential about said line. It's fine if you don't want to invest in this line or this particular product. It's even fine to say why. But arguing the point about the iconicness of Slave 1, when you've only seen the films a couple of times is like arguing that Jar Jar Binks is a very well thought out character, and a highlight of the films. People are just going to flat out tell you that you're wrong.
  3. Never mind that the $399.99 was from 8 years ago. 10188 wouldn't cost $399.99 if it was released today even without Disney's purchase.

This is the first rumor i've seen related to the January 1st winter wave of 2017. Sounds like a Yoda's Hut, the UCS Snowspeeder, and a new round of microfighters series 4, and a few Rogue One battlepacks are on the way.. It sounds like the following could happen. 75144 UCS Snowspeeder Yoda's Hutt 75160 (rebel pilot), 75161 (tie pilot), 75162 (rebel pilot), 75163 (Imperial Officer) 75164 Rogue One Rebel Battle Pack 75165 Rogue One Imperial Battle Pack 75166 Set with R2D2, and Yoda 75169 (possible landspeeder or could be Tusken Raider Attack themed set) has Luke, Obi-Wan, 3PO, and Tusken Raider 75170 (rebels set with Chopper, Kanan, Thrawn) 75171 Rogue One set with 3 minis (AT-AT's might be safe for a while!) 75272 Rebels set 75173 (sounds like a jedi final duel type set) with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Maul 75174 Desert Skiff with Han, Chewie, Fett, Weequay 75179 Set with Lando, Rebel Pilot, Crewman http://www.bouwsteentjes.info/gerucht-eerste-details-van-de-lego-star-wars-2017-sets/

Hopefully this is in the set with the Tusken Raiders... A Bantha maxifig is a must!
  6. What ship is this now? I don't recognize it from any of the Star Wars movies.
  7. Shot of a new Han Solo minifigure from the upcoming Death Star set...
  8. You make good and valid points. I know you're in Germany and your competition there is different from what I have to deal with here. And you do have a point. 15% discount isn't that good, even on Exclusives that are rarely sold at discount here. I do remember all too well when I, still wet behind the ears as a new Brickpicker, bought a Slave 1 at 10% and thought that was a good deal. And then months later I could buy it with 20% discount. Also, you're obviously doing this more professionally ("for my business to be strong...") than I am. For me, the main reason to buy and sell LEGO was and still is to get a better return on my savings than simply leaving it to rot on a 0.5% interest savings-account at the bank. And I'm doing that using a product I love and have a connection with, which helps me to pick and choose sets that will be wanted by the masses. My risks are very low because I'm not speculating with borrowed money, or using this LEGO investment as a way to (partially) support the household income. It's purely a hobby for me. Hunting for a great deal can be both frustrating and deeply satisfying. Scoring a great deal gives a rush. Though missing out on such a deal because you were busy elsewhere or had a bad timing can be similarly frustrating. Right now is a low season, especially for selling LEGO. I'm already looking forward to the last several months of the year when the building up to the Christmas craze hits the markets!
  9. I was in HK several times last year, though never had much time for looking (there for work). From the places I did see Lego, there was never any really compelling stuff that I could see, though I don't recall seeing any stand out places on Nathan Road. A lot of Lego knock-offs, though. Lego is pretty big there, though. As seen at this exhibit that was on HK Island (at a shopping centre just south of Causeway Bay train station)...
  10. What did he do on screen that was so amazing? Dude got taken out by a half blind Han Solo, Jar Jar would have put up more of a fight than Boba Fett.

    Where is my bantha?

Shut up and take my money. Especially Thrawn. I'm already lining up for that one.
  13. Did you try "LEPINBASH"
  14. You're trolling
  15. I finished out everything I needed for this set today. Got a complete set, plus three extra Mariachis and two extra Penguins. And an extra kick boxer and hiker so I could make a woman hiker for my friend that's about to hit the Pacific Coast Trail for a month.
  16. Hello here you can see how a chain is produced. Have fun greeting, üfchen
  17. And bingo was his name-o!
  18. You should go and rewatch empire strikes back. There are probably no star wars fans that would agree with you as the slave being one of the least iconic ships I guess you think Boba fett was a weak character also because of his lack of screen time and lines. Well news flash he is a BOUNTY HUNTER who pilots the Slave and was one of the coolest pilot/ship combinations in the whole star wars universe. Kids wanted to know more about the mysterious Fett and for a few years between ESB and ROTJ he was in possession of the main antagonists and had him frozen in carbonite aboard the SLAVE 1. You are investing in Lego wrong and obviously watching and enjoying the star wars saga wrong; you are entitled to your opinion but it and much of what you have posted here is wrong.

    SW sets = remakes
  20. Look for my "Why I hate Jet blog." Coming soon!
  21. TOYBASH and up to $35 savings and 3+ items on the jet.com sale. A few of the sets I was looking at are no longer there. Looks like a number of the sw battle packs are no longer available. I was just going to use them to maximize the savings.

I'm wondering if the set with Lando is the set that looks like two shoes tied together from Cloud City? That's one set that needs an update. And a Lando in his blue outfit is well past due. And I hope Yoda's Hutt is as good as the Unexpected Gathering set from a few years back.

I have a feeling it will be a set along the lines of the "Final Jedi Duel".

  25. I bet if you call them and ask Lepin will release Jam Jam Banks on their Star Warn line.
  26. I use free shipping and adjust prices accordingly.
  27. Over the last 3 days. About 6 walmarts. I am done....or single. Whatever happens first
  28. I never got the 10188. I own a 10143 and it's my favorite set of my collection. If TLG makes another playset with 0 display style, I will gladly wait another 8 years for another. I only have so much space for sets and I don't like playsets. Just my opinion.

I think you're right and I definitely think you are correct in your opinion. This also might make investing in the movie sets from these new films a worthwhile adventure, because as time goes on, we may not see many of these sets released again in many many many years. And some of them might never be released again, especially if Disney continues to make 1 star wars film a year into the next 10 to 15 years. I think it maybe a long time before we see a First Order Transporter update, let alone another First Order Snowspeeder. After a while, I think even rehashing the OT sets will get very old. I already don't see myself buying any updated Desert Skiff set, unless it is so vastly different from the old version. And if there is a landspeeder with Luke, Obi and C3PO can it be that much different from the last two, including the one in the Cantina? The only way i'll be suckered into buying that is if there is a bantha with a couple tusken raiders in it. Basically the only thing I'd like to see released from the Force Awakens would be a Rathtar set and a UCS style Maz Kanata Castle with a lot of the aliens. Other that those, there's not much left for them to do as most of the films ships and best scenes were already covered in the sets that were made.
  31. Add some crayons at about $0.87/pack 3 count. Then I'm seeing Brick Bank at $134 or M Falcon at $95 after code and waiving free returns.
  32. Must save image before mods make it *ahem* disappear
  33. I'm sorry, but who is exactly is your competition? Most small players do not have access to LEGO wholesale. -15% is not bad for some exclusives. Let's look at an example. Let's say you got a Red Five X-Wing at -15% a year ago. RRP was 200€ so that's 170€. The current avarage bricklink price for this set is 310€ in Europe. Let's say you can get about 300€ and there's Paypal and bricklink fee of about 7% total. You'd still have more than 100€ profit per set. Now I'm not saying every set is like that, but I can clearly see how people think -15% on the Slave 1 or Tie is a good deal. Sure you can get lucky and find an exclusive at -20% sometimes, but anyone in France, Belgium or the Netherlands will have a hard time finding that deal. Even then, RRP is generally higher here. For example RRP for the UCS Tie is 220€ over here. Even if you manage to find -20% locally, the price is still higher than -15% at German RRP. You also did not take into account order limits. Let's say you find that 20% deal. Do you think they are just going to let you buy 5 Slave 1's?
  34. I would love a 500 price set. The only thing that I'm woried about is how much a chunk does disney get. The FA star wars sets seem to have a 20 - 30% price increase. The 75101 FO Tie tag of 69.99 is insane for a set like that. SW sets are a bit pricey and with a 500 set being good. I'm worried that it will look like a 400 set after all said and done. The 10188 looked like a 450 set for 399.99 but that age of SW is over with the new owner.
  35. Notice how the column taper inwards, good design.
  36. clearance toys are 50% off at FM (not advertised) $16 Elsa castles $24 ariel $11 jets most end up being 60-70% off
  37. Dude, by all means it is very likely that most 10188 went to kids. If it was for collectors it would have closely followed 10179 to the retirement pit. It is an unsubstitutable element of LEGO's SW portfolio. Don't you think there was a very good reason that they kept it around for this long? Just to screw around with resellers is not worth so many years in production. I always say that the internet LEGO community is only a small minority of the whole customer base. We might have relevance with some special AFOL sets and promotions, but 10188 is a majestic mainstream play set.
  38. Except it was probably too late to change it when AssOnHoth was released.

Here it is .. One Minty $52 UCS Tie Fighter ..THank You Amazon and OP for the report! Still can't believe they actually sent it!
  40. Any other crusty old guys think of the Bananaman cartoon, that aired on Nickeldeon during the 80's, when they see the Banana Guy minifigure?
  41. Left truckloads (ok, maybe slight exaggeration) of Hulkbusters at €25 behind. Was tempted, but I think this will end up being very much hoarded and I'm wary of Super Heroes sets which don't start with the words Ant-Man.
