  5. Shhhh. The first rule of the Temple of Airjitsu thread is that we don't talk about ToA investment.
  6. 5 sold. You really think someone sits on 6+ of these and doesn't know their value?
  7. Pretty good price for technic fire plane @amazon for $34.98 limit 2 Brickolodon wants you to see this item at Amazon.com LEGO Technic 42040 Fire Plane Building Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WHXP7LK/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_8AcExb6M92W3V
  8. Definitely my favorite build so far in 2016. My 7 year old son and I built a couple bags a day for about a week. Looks fantastic in the display cabinet + a lot of quality time with my little guy which is priceless. I don't have any for investment purposes, but the current promo(s) tempt me to grab one for a rainy day. Doesn't appear overly hoarded + it's super unique.
  9. Lego store $50 plus 10% IL tax. NEXO sold for $15 and shipping, castle knight sold for $20, also got 5% VIP back. with castle promo and my NEXO coupons I'll be buying plenty of $50 sets in next couple days... Plus Ferris wheel few days ago, I really like this set and personally think it will be an investing winner...
  10. Just for the record: your return period has expired
  11. By that time, there will be another 8 versions of the Tumbler or Bat Mobile. This particular one is safe in my opinion.
  12. Just like to clarify for those that have ever wondered, Crustybeaver is geezer and not girl.
  13. You can interpret that as either they are producing less SOH and running down stock or the horde have made up their minds that SOH is retiring next and buying the set hand over fist, hence its OOS status. There was a time where one of the sets would have just sold out. These days however I think Lego milk the late surge of interest in sets, Pet Shop, EWOK Village. I'm sure SOH or Tower Bridge will be no different, kicking around for longer than expected. Even retailers are taking advantage, Smyths clearly saw an opportunity in the Tumblers retirement, buying up huge amounts of stock so they could push them all out long after everyone else had sold theirs. I expect this is behaviour we may end up seeing a lot more of now as retailers adapt buying and selling techniques to take advantage of the late surge of money for retiring sets.
  14. was in my local walmart, and noticed all the force awakens sets were reduced at least by 30%. 119 MF's, 64.00 Poe's X-wings, 55.00 Resistance Transporter, Mazy's Castle was 47, 15.00 Rey Speeders, 55.00 FO Ties, and after I cleared out the FO Transporter at 40 something a few months back, they had a new case sitting there at 71. Signs on the wall. These are all gone by christmas, IMO.
  15. You need to refer to the sales and use tax laws of the state in which you reside. The fact that you haven't set up a formal legal entity through which to make your sales doesn't matter at all. Up until this year, I have done all of my sales as a sole proprietor and have been collecting sales tax for several years.
  16. Oh man, and I thought I was good with the obscure references. Haha.

The tone of the ad and the free weights in the picture lead me to believe it's hcxkid; however, there aren't enough grammatical errors for it to be his.

Investing in LEGO sets is the best idea around. Either the sets increase by huge multiples in 6 months after retirement, or you just unload the whole lot to a BPer for what you paid. You can't lose.

Sounds like a serious case of "I thought I was going to get rich from selling LEGO but it's too much of a hassle".
  23. Big Ben in its new home. Very tedious build which is worth it at the end.

  25. Speaking of slow selling, you have to wonder why The Tumbler lasted only two years when other major exclusives last longer than that. Slow seller? Too costly? With the current market conditions, The Tumbler will be the IT set that everyone wish they had more of.
  26. Bart Smit has a weekend promo of up to 20% off all toys from July 1 to July 3:http://www.bartsmit.com/nl/bsnl/content/kortingsweekendvoorwaarden I just bought the moss eisly cantina for only 75 euro and the trains multipack for 160!

  28. Hi guys I would like to announce - for those who do render their LDD virtual models and may already know my work - that there is finally official page of my SunFlow MOD for BlueRender. So, make the story short: anyone who cares can grab it for free at http://lego.queryen.com/php/_sfmod.php?j=en (there are separate WIN and MAC versions and lot more!), regards bublible
  29. Ha ha ha, are you saying you're receiving private messages from guys thinking you're a girl and trying to hit on you? Here, on this forum? ROFL If so, that would be utterly pathetic! <edit> Ah, now I notice the "his/her" remark by Furious_george. Silly me...

Lego UCS Planet Express Ship by Nicola Stocchi
  37. Exactly. And only in the remote mountains of Japan. So shipping will be a pain.
  38. This is a very swooshable set, I dig it.
  39. While these sets are already officially retired, many can still be found for around MSRP. Here in Europe the Birds set is scarce and therefore has seen already a decent price increase. But in the US it's supposedly still widely found. This set pretty much flew under the radar of many investors, and only after it retired in Europe and the value went up people realised it. But as often said: Europe and the US/Canada are different markets and not every set behaves the same post-EOL in these two separated markets. Rapunzel's Tower and Heartlake Shopping Mall could still be found for around MSRP. Remains to be seen how these sets will develop in the coming years. My daughter likes Rapunzel's Tower and has one to play with. But I don't have any as an investment as I don't believe in the current Friends / Disney line as an investment series. City Arctic sets will probably do nice after a while. Arctic Explorers is a nice sub-theme in the City theme. Don't expect spectacular increases though. But one or two sets in this theme could be a hidden gem in the works... Brick Bounty is a pirate ship, and every single Lego pirate ship has done well in the past. On the other hand, the BB is not a really iconic ship and also discounted by Lego when it was close to EOL. In the long run (10 years, as you mentioned) this should do okay but for the same money invested there may be other sets that will offer a faster return. The mentioned Star Wars sets will do well for now, especially the ISD and the AT-AT. But Star Wars sets also run the highest risk of remakes. Even more so now Disney owns the Star Wars brand and Disney is all about milking their IPs down to the last drop. Of the newer sets you mentioned, there's a chance Poe's X-Wing may get replaced by the upcoming new X-Wing (75149) coming out this Summer which is more or less the same X-Wing but with different colours, different minifigs and a different setting. If that happens, then Poe's X-Wing might become a highly desired and collectable set. All speculation though. The Ewok Village has a good chance to go retired this year. If you can get it at a good discount it ought to be worth it if you are patient enough to let it (slowly) increase in value post-retirement. I doubt it will be a fast riser like the Tumbler or the Red Five. Regarding the Ghostbusters HQ and the Brick Bank, they have just been released and will be available for a long time yet. If you want to buy them for yourself (to build) through Lego LEGO Shop at Home, wait for a double VIP promo to get more discount on them. For both it's too early to already buy them as investment because they will tie up your money while you're waiting for them to go retired in 2018/2019, maybe.
  40. Added the Black Pearl to the fleet today
  41. Pet Shop is the better Build in my opinion though thats probably because it reminded me of less fun build of my favourite set Green Grocer (it has quite a few similar technique though green grocer was better at execution petshop was about giving as much as possible for $150). thought Im going to say if I were to rank the current market modulars. 1. Parisian Restaurant (cuz its smexy, unique and rlly fun to build) 2. Pet Shop (2 Completely separate buildings great exterior petshop building is complete but the apartment is defiantly lacking interior wise except for floor 1 That bath was genius) 3. Detective Office (I liked this set but it was simple also wish they where separate buildings as well still love the water tower though great technique and the roof design on the hair dresser building) 4. Palace Cinema (Interior is really lacking, exterior is alright though It takes to much from the Chinese theatre in LA wish it was more unique. the build was alright as well)
  42. Daughter built the grand hotel from the what did you buy thread earlier. No QFLL'ing that one (unfortunately). Took her about 4 hours
  43. Finished building my $16 Town Hall from last year. Was an Amazon return and had been built before. Took a some time building but came out good. The top right is missing a piece as I just dropped it. Fell on a shelf and couldn't find it. Deal with it later.
  44. Finally got around to using some of my bricklinked dark grey slopes. Built a new modification for my 9474 MOC today, bridging the tower and keep modules together. Next up, the right side mountains....
  45. As we don't have a "What set did you take apart today" thread I'll put this here, today I disassembled and cleaned a 75% built QAR from a recent bulk lot, the rest of it is already sorted out. So I will put it back together tomorrow, take a few pictures, then take it apart again. I think this will be my eighth or ninth QAR, at this point I can nearly build it without the instructions. This is probably my favorite set that I have built, just a very well designed ship.
  46. 31039 Creator Blue Power Jet. This was a brilliant building experience. The little details, like using the 1x1 slopes to make the seats are clever. But the wings are ingenious. A hinge is used to connect the two main pieces together which are then filled in with angled plates. Love it, highly recommended. I think this set will be a winner.
  47. So I had a great weekend building all these pirate ships: Black Pearl, Sea Cow, Queen Anne, Imperial Flagship and Brickbeard's Bounty. I tremendously enjoyde building both POTC vessels, great builds!!
