  1. If you're having trouble selling your sets on Ebay, maybe message this seller for some (or better said: two) tips ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/262492801150

  2. Built Big Ben and added lights from Brick Stuff. What a slick addition to the model - I added two white LEDs in the top of the tower, and two green LEDs behind the colonnade above the four sided clock. Next step is to illuminate the facade and light the Tower Bridge displayed next to it. For those builders and MOCers that have thought about diving into lighting, you will not be disappointed.

  5. our first used Modular on local eBay, first purchased locally here in Brazil, at BRL 1300 (USD~385 -EUR~349) extremely well kept, first time no missing pieces at all (previous used set experiences always with missing pieces 75093, 79003, 7965, 8038, 4842, etc.), as you can see below seller placed back the pieces into the original numbered bags...

  7. Finally got around to building (and photographing) 10197 Fire Brigade. It was the first modular I ever constructed. I enjoyed it, but, it wasn't as life changing as I expected. I'm in the process of tearing it down so I can sell it, lol. But I am looking forward to building others in the series.

  8. Hi guys, Earlier this year my wife and I "completed" our journey out of the dark ages (thanks again to this community for making that possible for a -relatively- reasonable amount). Having acquired all of the retired sets we wanted (within reason, sorry UCS Falcon and Grand Carousel), my wife mused that our city needed a zoo. I agreed, so I decided to make one. I posted a MOC a few months ago but this is my first end-to-end, all the bells and whistles effort at something special. It took about 10-12 weeks. I built it and my wife provided constant feedback, answering "what do you think of this?" and "how does this look?" over and over hahah. I also received input some friends, family, and even an esteemed member on here (shout out TheOrcKing for his feedback and, really, everything he does and contributes to this community). Anyway, I thought I'd share this one with you all, too... The concept is that it's a modular building that has modular exhibits, in that you can remove them from the building and place them side-by-side more like a traditional zoo. Depending on how you configure it, the play area becomes as large as 50" wide, but is easily stored and placed into your city on a single standard 10"x10" baseplate: Behind the facade, there are 7 exhibits and 1 food stand & lab. Here's a look at one of them (link to others below): And this is what it looks like as part of a Lego city street: There's a complete video overview here: https://youtu.be/3q6l0Ud5C3c And lots more pictures here (no pressure to vote, of course.... not that I'll stop you lol) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/145483 Thanks for looking! Thoughts?

  9. If anyone is still looking for more storage drawers for their store/LEGO collection: Sears continues to have the 39-drawer Stack Ons as Hot Buy for $13.99/ea. There is a $10 back in points for purchases over $50 promotion, plus a 10% back in points promotion, making a purchase of 4 $56 plus $15.50 back in points towards FREE LEGO. (plus a 5% off coupon if you have a Sears Card - saves an additional $2.80 on 4). Combining with discounted Sears gift cards gives more direct savings if you have any.

  13. you know whats odd, I was doing an inventory of all the Mixels I have ( turns out its like 1100 ) and comparing prices on Amazon/eBay etc and for some unknown reason maybe valublae pieces in the set, the Mixels Scorpi from series 3 was selling for £14.50, so I put the 34 up which I bought for like £1.50 each and all sold in like 10 days ( all Amazon and all sent none-recorded because Amazon actually bans people. ) Yes madness

  15. All my WM birds got stickers blue rim for the first buy 21S5 and orange rim for second buy 24S5. The first time I almost got a heart attack (given previous experiences with WM sticking a shipping label to my town hall and shipping naked...) but I was pleasantly surprised when they pealed off easily. Catastrophe averted now I just want WM to dry up before they single handedly flood the market.

  16. As if Medicare isn't subsidizing grandma enough already (most 65+ people receive in paid services about 4 x what they paid in during their working lives, thanks to younger workers who will never see any of their 'generosity' repaid). The least grandma could do is not go around hacking eBay accounts and running phantom lego reseller scams...

  20. "Everything you need to hook up and play! Console has been cleaned and thoroughly tested. Joystick is somewhat used and works great. Polished pins on game. I ship six days a week!" I'm not 100% certain, but that description ... seems pretty accurate.

  22. I used the dollar for size reference. We have a local auction group setup on Facebook for our county and neighboring counties. I won about 40 sets, varying from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman, SpongeBob, Toy Story 3, Indiana Jones, City and Creator sets. I used the Brick picker app to at least track the retail value. I know I can't go by the exactly as far as valuation goes, but I don't think I did too bad for $75.

  26. I foolishly bought 5 more complete sets, when I was adamant I wasn't going to buy anymore, but reading this site convinced me to get some more. Anyway, back in late April, I scored 2 cases of these right before the official release date, and then over a 2 week period, I blew out 10 complete sets and made decent profit on them. I sold some sets for 180 during the initial gold rush, but then prices dropped quickly, but were in the 150 range for a few days (still very good profit), before going lower to where they hovered around 120 for quite some time. Now, they are down to about 105 before fees, and I have to say it's just average times right now, because they are not moving like they once were, and the better time to sell these was during the first 2 weeks of release. I sold one of the 5 sets this past week and made a whopping 9.00 after fees/shipping/packaging costs, and plan on just holding the other 4, but I'm thinking it's going to be a while before these are profitable again (be nice to see them hit 180 again). The good days have definitely slowed. Reminds me very much of Series 14 when early on it was incredibly great but as time wore on, the interest waned, and too many people jumped in. I think the same has happened to the Disney Figures. I hear a lot of people convinced these are going to be extremely profitable, but i'm not convinced. Same thing was said about Simpsons series 1, and that hasn't really panned out and they have been retired for some time. A lot of the previous minifigures I wouldn't call "extremely profitable either".. While some figure MAY net you 2x, a majority of these will hover around the 30% range for quite some time. So, I think a lot of people are overstating these as investments.

  27. It looks to me that the parents are expecting to get back near what they spent without putting in the effort to organize it into sets. not anywhere close IMO. If you're interested in going into Bulk, I wrote a primer on it.

  36. IMO if it is a used played with lot it is sold as is as seen in pictures if the pictures are not clear than buyer beware. if you went ahead and purchased them based off the pictures that is on you he is not a bad seller for selling a used bulk lot as found . Many kids play with these Lego toys and then they get sold by their parents or found at a yard sale or at goodwill...You cant reasonably expect someone to go through and only list the ones that are matched properly or to correct them themselves especially if they have no knowledge of lego. Most good sellers would at least pull the colored, chewed or damaged ones out but not all do.Most of this should be seen in the pictures before purchase so complaining after means you probably did not due your due diligence before purchasing. The fact the you blame the sellers poor pictures but you still purchased is a poor excuse especially since you can return for a full refund... The responsibility is on you as a buyer to make sure it is what you want before purchasing you are offered free returns for any item if you feel it is not as described so if they were that bad you could have sent them back free of charge...Asking for additional parts that were not included, threatening or leaving negatives in this situation make you the bad buyer. If you were unhappy why not ask to return instead of asking for additional parts. IMO you cant buy used lots and expect a seller to send you individual missing parts or partial refunds because the figures are mismatched. Many sellers including ME would tell you to return them all or buzz off. Then I would block you as a picky buyer/scammer.

  37. Just say no. The seller claims 1,000 (which is likely an exaggeration), and would still want 700 (so there is a very low likelihood of a great deal ever happening) - nothing good will come of this. There are always great deals - there is no need to have any doubt about a purchase.

  38. Built Berlin yesterday. It was a quick one. It's hard to shoot these short and tall little landscapes. That big tower in the middle poses issues when you have so little horizontal element to help balance the frame. I have a couple images where the entire frame is in focus. I stacked 2 images in photoshop and blended the focus so it appears as if the entire image is in focus. That's the photography side of me coming out, some would call that dark ages talk.

  41. Running through a few small SW sets I picked up used preparing for resale. Geonosian Cannon is quite a nice little build. With the Ventress/Opress/Maul story arc being my favourite clone wars story and Darth Maul probably my favourite SW universe story arc, now that he’s popped up in rebels. I wasn’t planning on, but I’ll probably end up keeping the Nightspeeder and the Mandy speeder, for a little while anyway.

  44. Built this over the last week. Only my second Technic build so far. I really do enjoy how well the gears, chains and different linking elements work in congruence with one another. Although the builds aren't quite as enjoyable as standard sets the end results are really intriguing. (Street Motorcycle 42036) I opted for the Retro Bike build and there are ample pcs left over but it still looks bad a$$.

  45. @feed: Is that ISD 75055? The box of that set is quite big so that's surprising. Finished building that Batman set with the exception of Batmobile and Batcopter and the superhero minifigures. Those are already packed for sale to recoup parts of the original costs. It was a fun build and the final result is more impressive than I imagined. A lot of people complain about the set but I think it's cool. I'm not a fan of superheroes and Batman though. And this is how it could look like if integrated into a modular street.

  47. On the topic of buying HH even now at 2x or more MSRP: Phase 1: My son got interested in Lego 7 months ago. I hadn't so much as looked at a Lego in 20 years. All I knew was he desperately wanted new Lego passenger train. We bought and built it together, along with station. Phase 2: I thought "wow this is so cool! These sets are WAY better than they were in my day!" Phase 3: I go online and start looking at what else Lego makes. I stumble onto Haunted House on Lego SAH (it was still up with a SO tag). Jaw drops. Heart rate increases. Phase 4 (also known as the self-denial phase): I do my research, see it is seeing on eBay for almost $400, and show my wife the set, but promise I would never spend $400 on a Lego set (because THAT would be crazy). Phase 5 (also known as "emersion from dark ages" syndrome. Also known as the angry wife phase): I buy a brand new HH for $350 shipped. It arrives in beautiful shape. Wife finds out. (Domestic episode deleted from post). The point of this whole diatribe was that the HH was the one and only retired set I just could never live without. I can pass on all the old Star Wars stuff, pirate ships, TH, FB, whatever. But this was a "biological imperative" - there was no way my heart/head combo was ever going to let me live a life that didn't contain the Lego 10228. I would have paid $500. Today I would pay $600 if I had to (and didn't own it). There is something magical about this set and I feel very strongly that there are THOUSANDS of people out about to have their ownHH moment in the next several years. This set will hit $500 two months, eclipse the Town Hall by October 2016, and leave TH in the dust in 2017. Just watch and mark my words. (Phase 6: new guy thinks he's smart enough to lay down epic predictions at 4:00am cuz he can't sleep)
