I'd just open it and make sure it's legit. The lost value of being open is minimal.5 points

That was my initial reason too, to start with LEGO investing/speculating. With interest on savings at the bank being below 1% it's not even hard to get a higher ROI on LEGO sets. But it also awoke the AFOL lurking inside me, waiting to make me come out of my LEGO Dark Ages. So now I'm both buying for myself, for my own collection, and to earn a higher interest in my savings.3 points

Didn't buy it today but finally came in the mail! My helicarrier! Used about 100 dollars worth of points on it. In the process of moving and 1/4 of my hoard is behind my sofa at the moment lol...3 points

I am expecting this set to have 3-5 years product life. It may still be too early to pull the trigger.2 points

Let's put it this way... if I had to buy this older set I would probably buy with more confidence if the box had been opened for the purpose of making sure manuals and sealed bags were all there and intact2 points

Echo that. Open it but leave the bags sealed. An opened box, sealed bags set for a long-since-retired set like GG is not going to make any difference when trying to sell - at this point people buying from you are more than likely buying to build, so they'll open anyways, and if you post pictures with the bags displayed they will have confidence they are not getting a bricklinked or tampered-with set. Separately, since you've purchased already, care to mention the price you paid (and how this relates to the current AUD selling prices)? I'm hoping you really got a steal.2 points

Do I understand this correctly that an honorable brickpicker left a lone copy for little Timmy and you just grabbed it? Anyway, this sounds like the deal of a lifetime. Congratulations!2 points

I probably will get blown up for saying this, but the BB is probably my least favorite of the bunch so far. There is almost TOO much going on. Tiny, tiny little details on so many sections. Instances of using three flat 1x2's or 1x4's on top of each other when a regular 1x2 or 1x4 would suffice. Very stuffed full interior which looks great but just is just...full. The height of the main floor also makes it hard to navigate around (play with or show friends the features), the chandelier is brilliant but hidden, and honestly the short, square shaped exterior is not very appealing compared to other modulars. It just felt like a clunky build, and it's even worse to tear apart. I think I will bust open a PS next and see what all they hype is about on that one.1 point

Yeah when anyone should see an accumulation of sand green bricks in a bag a lightbulb should turn on in there head!1 point

Getting for 33% off this set is easy in the US. Simplest way to do it is to buy it in Thursday's from TRU to get the 10% discount from the TRU credit card, then use the 20% off coupons which pop up sporadically, and then pay a portion of it with a TRU gift card which you can get on eBay for 15% off from time to time. Depending on state taxes, you can bring down the all in cost to about $100 give a take a few dollars. I unfortunately bought several of these, but now which I had just waited longer. Was always fearful the 10% Thursday's and 20% off coupons would dry up, but that doesn't seem like it will be the case anytime soon. At least it's not like IR. I have 6 of those and bought them all at an average buy in of $110. Now you can find them for $95. Oh well...1 point

Too soon to buy one for less tha 40% unless it´s for a personal build. Better deals will come on these sets in Q4.1 point

67% RRP means a 33% discount. It's better than I've ever seen it sold for here in The Netherlands. Currently Amazon Germany is selling it for ~ €116 which is about 28% discount on an RRP of €160. So 33% discount is already cheaper than what I paid for the 75105 last year when I bought one for myself (€121, or 24% discount). Oh well, c'est la vie. At the time I thought it was a really good deal, but I had just started with LEGO investing that time. What did I know about prices and how much discount is possible when you're patient? And that's where the experience of long-time Lego investors comes into play: knowing what discounts are feasable and when is the best time to strike. Ultimately it's the gamble when you see a discount: is this the best deal I'll ever have on it, or will it get even more discounted? And if you wait too long you may not get that deal any longer and you'll finally have to buy at a higher price. I'm sure every LEGO investor here has bought sets when they thought the discount wouldn't get any deeper, and then they saw the same set at an even higher discount a while later. Keep in mind that people love to show off and tell here about the awesome deal they scored, but will rather keep quiet about the mistakes they made. Returning to your question: should you purchase 75105 now at 67% RRP, is something you have to decide for yourself. Other Brickpickers here won't buy non-exclusives at less than 40% discount, but that's their choice/strategy. This set will not retire any time soon, but if you don't mind holding it for a few more years knowing you got it at a decent discount, then it may be worth it for you.1 point

It'll work online, too, though it says with some restrictions. There's an early ad scan here- http://www.totallytarget.com/2016/06/09/sneak-peek-target-weekly-ad-scan-for-612-618/3/- promo code LEGO. Some sets are priced lower online than in store right now- for example, Avengers Tower is $59.99 in store, but $48.99 online.1 point

I got a full set of all of the early star wars sets new in sealed boxes from a guy on Craig's list. Saw the ads for a few weeks not selling, so I made a lower offer and made the deal. I listed them individually on ebay and all of them sold within 2-3 months with the exception of one (7171 droid starfighter which I still have.) Made more that double my original investment. Selling individually is going to get you the most money.1 point

For fellow Belgians: I just came back from my weekly round of toy stores to check for discounts. At Dreamland they are having a -40% clearance on selected sets. I scored a couple of battle droid troop carriers and two city superpacks. Total discount was over 100€ so well worth it. Second store I went to had everything swiped, but I checked out what was supposed to be on the clearance shelves: Minecraft stuff, City Police, City Deep Sea Exploation and some Star Wars.1 point

It has changed my buying practices. Even though I don't flip much while still in production, I'm looking down the road to selling. If Amazon is ever off the table, it's a game changer for me.1 point

Unbelievably I found mine with 30% off. Which is why i grabbed 4 in the first place.1 point

If you are building it, get the one you like. Really either could retire and increase or hang on for many years and not appreciate for some time. My vote is for Sydney Opra House. I just like that one more and think it's a better looking set.1 point

In Turin, Italy Shop's name is GIROTONDO, they had a 20% discount on all sets included the newest(which of course were overpriced).1 point

Approve the return, swallow the loss, and move on. It's the cost of doing business on Amazon. It happens from time to time, and you have to be prepared to eat it if you want to sell on Amazon.1 point

send her return label. and tell her that you will process refund once you receive the item. few suggestion: a. its a business. never explain to customer your side of things. [ like its your first return etc... ] b. don't get personal. i know its hard but it is what it is. hopefully you will get the item back. btw, i thought kylo ren [ 75104 ] was gated. how did you get past it? or its the secondary listing? if you are listing items under secondary listing you are looking for trouble don't do that. if she pushes amazon might ask you for invoice of purchases or remove you from that listing. [ this one sharing from personal experience ] just list the item under whatever UPC codes provides?1 point
-
Pay for the return shipping yourself, as I'm fairly confident Amazon will side with her if she pushes the issue. You can sell the set complete w/o figures on eBay or keep for personal build. Write the sale off as an inventory loss. You win some....lose some. Sorry.1 point

Well let's assume you didn't miss something as obvious as scotch tape holding the box shut (or your buyer is an idiot and doesn't understand what a LEGO factory tape seal looks like). By the indignant tone of the email, sounds like she knows she's scamming you, and has clearly pulled this trick before. Out of curiosity, is this a set where the minifigures are of any significant value that's worth this effort?1 point
