  1. My latest restoration project. This was a tough one. I had to do a fair amount of substitution because the large dark blue plates are non-existent. Only one of the substitute pieces is noticeable on the roof. Also the windshield wipers. I was able to hide the others pretty well. Before and after pictures showing what I got and the finished product. The stickers are high quality replacements I got from a guy in Australia.
  2. My son finished his 75053 The Ghost that he got for his birthday. His first major build to do by himself (he's 6). The kids are huge Rebels fans, so he loves it!
  3. What I take from this. Damn, my kid is lazy.
  4. To take this a step further, NO retailer to my knowledge will price match clearance prices. And for good, logical reason.
  5. And if you'd rather give up $6 in dollar savings for 5% in VIP points and a free polybag, 21302 is on sale for $47.99 at LEGO Shop at Home.
  6. Well now 19% isn't so bad...
  7. Hold on to your wallets kids. 21302 - IDEAS: Big Bang Theory - $42.11 (30% off)
  8. this one starting to feel like exo-suit part deux. why doesn't it die ....
  9. Build this over the last few days, picked it up for £300 so happy. Quicker build than I expected, but looks fantastic. Bit big though, doesn't fit on my shelf without removing the top section of the tower.
  10. 24 hour race car now $97.26!! How low can it go? When to pull that trigger?!?! http://amzn.to/27WZ1Um

  13. I thought it was awful at the time, and I still believe that LEGO destroyed the Friends line by going from the more wholesome pastel style, to the darker BRATZ style.
  14. That's the lowest it's been at Amazon, but Walmart has it lower $97.76 http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Technic-24-Hours-Race-Car-42039/45982585 It's $39.63 at WM http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-LEGO-Ideas-The-Big-Bang-Theory-21302/45982587

  16. It includes a road block with some burning tires. Also includes exclusive union minifigs.
  17. My son started this, but I ended up building the majority of it. 70603 Raid Zeppelin. Love the look of this thing!
  18. 1 point
Hmm you say boring but I love Athletico's shape and tactics.
  19. Ring the bell when it hits 30%.
  20. Something you take for indigestion isn't it?
  21. My son started building motorized Technic LEGO sets when he was 7. Built the 42009 Crane on his own when he had just turned 8. Just look for any Technic set with motor and your son will have fun, then let him take it apart to build his own machines - or spend some time with him explaining gearing ratios and mechanical stress on gears to void him damaging the moor or stripping gears. The rest will come automatically over time. The 42042 Crawler crane is a great set to get started with for example.
  22. There's a new coupon out available from 6/3 - 6/25, so it might be a shared coupon.
  23. I would assume that at 6 yrs old the EV3 programmable sets might be a bit much. I would start with the basic motor ones (non programmable), and let him work his way up. Search Educational & Dacta, and then Mindstorms, RCX, NXT, & then EV3.
  24. Thanks for the quick response.
  25. 42052 Technic Heavy Lift copter is 23% off at amz.
  26. Two months later, and I'm still loving this set... and now $38.39 on Amazon... it's killin' me. Seems like a great value. But I have zero in my inventory right now. Seems like all retailers have plenty of stock. If it got a little scarce this Christmas, it might go back to full retail, but they'd have to go higher for me to make any money on these. Sure I could hold them for a few years, and hope there's demand after EOL... but I don't feel that good about this set.
  27. I had the pleasure to see the exhibit in New York two years ago, and to preview the brand new Seattle exhibit on Thursday night. It is a fantastic show, and the Pacific Science Center has used a large exhibition space for the show, allowing ample space to walk around the 3D art pieces and see them from multiple perspectives. The show opens this Saturday, 5/28 and will remain in Seattle through September 11th.The gallery begins with LEGO re-creations of famous paintings and sculpture. One of my favorites was “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”I have prepared a preview and gallery of the Seattle exhibit at my website. The article includes photos of about 1/3 of the art on display at the show, and includes my thoughts on the favorite pieces in the exhibit. The highlight of the show are the creative sculptures, usually featuring human forms and complex subjects, such as his most famous work which is simply titled "Yellow".The exhibit explores three main themes: LEGO re-creations of famous artworks, unique sculptures by artist Nathan Sawaya, and some mixed-media and performance art pieces. It is a large exhibit which you will need at least an hour to fully appreciate. He is also famous for performance art pieces where he decorated his home city of New York with these "Hugman" sculptures. The exhibit closes with a unique piece which he created just for Seattle. I do show photos of that piece on my website, but aren't showing them here in case you don't want to be spoiled!LINK: http://brickarchitect.com/2016/art-of-the-brick/ It is an exhibit that is not to be missed. It is simultaneously a fantastic LEGO show, and a serious art exhibit by a talented sculptor. This exhibit has something for everyone! Sincerely,Tom AlphinTom is the author of the book The LEGO Architect, 2015, No Starch Press.
  28. The End is Nigh! First Target Red Card discount disappearing from Ebay GCs, then EBay GCs disappearing from Target.com, then Target GCs disappearing from Ebay, now TRU's having personalized single use coupon codes ..... what's next - Walmart will have a 1 clearance item per shopper limit?

  33. Hmm I wonder if the French version of this set says out of fuel.
  34. Just tried the coupon, and it came up as already used? Maybe it's not activated yet?
  35. And PS - though everyone has given up on that one retiring, much like they did with 10188 ...
  36. DO & BB should have at least a year of shelf life left on them. The PC - and to a lesser degree PR - are the two that nobody would be shocked to see hit EOL by the end of the summer.
  37. That makes good sense. I will probably grab PC and PR in June, DO in July, BB with my VIP points, then GE a couple months later.
  38. @Poly 30286 , it should but just in case
  39. Picked up a PC 10232 and a PR 10243 at TRU for $120 and $130 plus 10% cc discount.
  40. I actually like & want the Pet Shop. I was thinking of getting that one for my next Modular.
  41. So I was finally able to find someone to help develop a plugin for a sticky post that will be great for this thread. The daily deals will now have the updated list like we used to at the top of each page. To make it less annoying to you frequent visitors, it skip past that post as you go from page to page, but you can scroll up at anytime to see it. It is better than it used to be because it will be on every page and you will not need to go back to the first post of the day all the time to get the latest updates. Hopefully you find it useful.
  42. Every Porsche 911 needs a fountain to crash into ! lol pp
