  1. I bought a second hand 10212 last week and built it at the weekend. I had no idea of the scale of this thing. It's HUGE. Pic next to my 10188 for comparison. For 350gbp I consider this a bit of a bargain.
  2. So the Circus that was Star Wars has finished(filming anyway) and the long process of returning everything to its natural condition, Bird sheet'n'all, is slowly underway. What have we learned? Well, apart from sneaking over a mountain with a telescopic lens might get you arrested, or worse, have your photos deleted (thank zod for IT). Confidentiality Agreements aren't worth a Folk in rural Ireland! Mark Hamill can't pour a pint of Guinness. And well, just see the pics below.....
  3. "Don't worry. The kids at the orphanage are going to really enjoy these."
  4. You should get her name and complain with corporate. None of her business what you buy or do with them tbh. Or complain to higher management.
  5. 6344 Jet Speed Justice from 1993. I'm helping out a fellow LUG member who wants to rebuild a ton of sets he has in storage. Everything is complete and bagged and instructions are included. Makes life pretty easy.
  6. Twinsies! (Finished mine last weekend after it sitting in its box for half a year):
  7. Was at Toys R Us today. They had 10 out on the shelf, but they were each in a clear, plastic security case, like they use for video games and such. They also had part of a case behind the register that they let me buy as well. I felt a little bad as no-joke, the cashier lady actually told me something to the tune of this; "Y'all need to quit buying all of these. Save some for the kids. Comin' in here buyin' them and selling them on Ebay, I know what you're doing. You too old to come here and buy them for yourself." It was awkward. Made me feel dirty.
  8. Some other items on sale at Target.com: LEGO® Friends Heartlake Food Market 41108 - $31.99 (20% off) LEGO® Bionicle Ikir Creature of Fire 71303 - $6.99 (30% off) All the 2015 BIONICLE sets are also on sale, including this one: LEGO® BIONICLE Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder 70795 - $13.29 (they claim it's 30% off $18.99, but RRP was $29.99 so this is more like 60% off).

  13. Took kids to Legofest in Kansas City today. They had a blast. Also got freebies: Electro polybag, First Order General polybag, Friends Mini Golf polybag, and a small boxed Pirates set...
  14. I try to not be holding the hot potato when the music stops...
  15. It will be. A few of my WM's had them around $59 during the winter wave if I remember correctly. I passed entirely. Now those same stores have all restocked and are at retail. I can see this set going for around $40-$45, maybe lower at a few locations. It just sits and sits in my stores at retail.

  18. I'm reflecting a little tonight. Since I'm selling some Arkham Asylum's already, does this mean I'm starting to crack? Is the fable becoming real?

  20. C'mon, it's not that bad. Sure, it looks nothing like the ship from the show and the colors are all wrong and it's basically a log with weird folding wings and....Who am I kidding, it sucks. Has cool mini figs though.
  21. Similar to me. I set out to double my money but if something gets there really soon I hold (greed) and if it seems it won´t, I try to cut losses. This means occasionally selling too late but rarely too soon as few sets these days are sleepers. It also depends on what you do with the profits. if reinvesting is the aim then the time of year you sell and reinvest also has an influence in order not to get stuck with sets that never retire, but that´s when to buy, which is a whole different thread!

So with the AoH set, the recently announced 75158 Frigate and this lot which includes another X Wing, which is only different by its colour. I'd say overall that the 2016 has not been a vintage year for Star Wars Lego.
  24. Target has LEGO Super Heroes Darkseid Invasion 76028 for $41.99. Extra 5% off with Target Redcard.
  25. 42030 Volvo & 42039 24hr car 20% off at amz, matching tru maybe

Probably some random artwork they found. There's some artwork where it has 3 rings. The original Ralph McQuarri art even had 5 or more rings.
  27. 10% fees and shipping won't be cheap, he should have taken your offer
  28. Looks like you've got a drinking problem <duck> ... door's in upside down

  32. Big time Bricklink sell today - 2 parts, for a total 7 cents. Not a set, but I had to share the big time sell.
  33. Finally started venturing into MOC'ing. Started by using our extra Pet Shop (not a fan of it as a double) and our small collection of spare parts. It's pretty hollow but it kept the Bricklink costs to a minimum. We call it "Cloud High Rise".
  34. We needed a bridge for a section in our little city...so we built this bridge. It is basically a modified version of #4852 (Spiderman The Final Showdown), with road baseplates from #6600 (Highway Construction). It is the right length and height that we needed...Did not turn out too bad. Just not sure if I am completely satisfied with it though...
  35. Eurobricks forum member Just2Good has revealed that there will be a surprise addition to the summer LEGO Star Wars line up in the form of a Rebel Combat Frigate (set 75158). Supposedly it is based on the animated Rebels series and will include an Ahsoka Tano minifig.
  36. The final Captain America: Civil War set was revealed today. Tanker Truck Takedown. Includes Captain America, the Vision, Hawkeye, and the first ever MCU Spider-Man. Looks like it could pair nicely with the 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle.

My 3 year old requests the Beatles 1962-1966 when she's having a hard time sleeping. She doesn't call it that, she just names Love Me Do, the first track.
  38. I spoke to them this morning, as one of my orders got cancelled. CS rep said he would pass it on to the orders team, however now that the product had sold out he was unsure that they could do anything thing. He said that they might be getting some in a few weeks. Clear as mud as per usual
  39. You've just ruined my day as I am so hoping for the most amazing display piece! I am personally hoping for a huge display piece which is 5k pieces, priced at £450 (or $700) and has amazing detail of either the first or second death star. I went into Legoland Windsor about 2 months ago and asked if I could buy their display 10188 Death Star. They said no but someone came over who was a permanent member of staff who said that permanent staff had gone to a Lego event on future sets (which featured the new Death Star). Unfortunately they wouldn't give me any details at all but they said it would be released around the summer time (so I reckon in 2 months time as that would fit nicely between rubbish Hoth set and the Rogue One sets which will be released later in the year).
  40. Hey - this is almost as difficult a question as "what should i buy to make money". Basically there's no right or wrong answer here. Many people have many different strategies/hold times and it depends on so much. But as you've mentioned the tumbler. When you bought it what were you after (or was it just an "I've seen sets going for crazy dollars - i'm going to buy this with no research or plan of what i expect to get out" - that might sound a bit toolish and I'm not saying its you but you'll find a number of people come into this with attitude)? My opinion on this one is that anyone who bought one is going to want to see something decent. It's a set that a lot of people seem to have bought into. Now you can make a profit if you sell now but on this one i think you'll be better waiting until at least x-mas 2017. (Need to wait for impatient to clear out their stock and you'll get a good idea of the real supply/demand balance). I'd suggest before buying any sets think about what return you want on it and how long you'll be comfortable holding it. If you're just after 10% then anything from a day to a few months or in some cases you'll make a bad decision that you'll be lucky to get out of at flat after a couple of years. If you want to see more sizable returns then you're going to have to take the risk and hold longer; even if everyone else starts dumping there stuff because the 100% return 2 days after retirement didn't happen so its called a dud. best of luck with it all - Tumbler and SW are a great place to start out
  41. Built my first modular. GF built the pet shop half and I built the townhouse. Fun build! This can get addictive (and expensive).

  44. Anyone else less enthusiastic about TFA now that you've seen it and it's been a couple of months? The more I reflect on the movie, the more I come to the realization that it doesn't compare to the original trilogy. It's not even close. Maybe I'm just getting old and my expectations are too high for new Star Wars films. I was certainly more impressionable as a child when the OT was released and toys flooded the market. I've had plenty of free Friday and Saturday nights to sneak away to see it again and I'm just not that enthusiastic about going for a 3rd time. That sounds crazy since we've waited over a decade for this movie. There's just something stale and unoriginal about the whole plot and presentation. I know we've beaten that to the ground, but as a die-hard Star Wars fan I'm wondering if my expectations are just too high? When I left the theater, I gave it a 8.5/10. I'm down to about a 7 now The OT are 10,9,10 for me (in that order). This felt like another James Bond movie. Same script, same actors, same gadgets. Entertaining, but very safe. Nothing memorable other than a few battle scenes and a few unexpected lines of humor that I did enjoy. Kylo Ren was a huge let down. Most great movies have a nasty, evil villain. Ren had that potential until he took his mask off. That was just too soon for me. Emo Kylo Ren, indeed. As for the box office records and fan mania, TFA reminds me of Frozen. Some good music, a few interesting characters, and a familiar plot line. But the villain was an overall disappointment and the movie wasn't original. Disney fans love Frozen because they craved something with the Disney brand and style. Other than Pixar, there was a huge Disney drought since Lion King (Scar is one of the best villains of all time). Disney finally gave them something better than average and they ate it up. I thought it was average and supported by a great marketing campaign. I'm starting to feel the same about TFA. Why am I ranting and comparing TFA to Bond and Frozen? I don't know. Maybe this belongs in the Tumbler thread.
