  8. Basically, yeah. With a €50 set that's clearanced to €20, generally means it's on it's way out and they're not really going to be able to easily find availablity of the set. If someone sees that the RRP is €50 and they're getting it for €40, they think they get a bargain. I'm happy with turning €20 in to €40 and then that €40 might become a Wall-E or Doctor Who as an example. I can give you a few examples, I bought an Ultra Agents Helicopter for €30, sold it for €55 the next week, RRP €70, or The Lego Movie Rescue Reinforcements, bought it for €30, sold it a few weeks later for €57.50, again RRP was €70. Means that I keep the cash flow ticking over, so when I find sets which I've marked as planned buys, I have more money to spend.

  21. Now hard to find listings below RRP on ebay or bricklink - I think I may have been wrong about this one and that its performance will be better than crawler or unimog despite being very hoarded as there seems to be demand.

  30. I wouldn't really call that a poll. They only looked at the original reviews at the time of release. If you visit Rotten Tomatoes now, when you can view everything in context, the prequel trilogy doesn't fare as well, even The Force Awakens takes it down. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/search/?search=star+wars Don't forget this gem.

  33. Just found and supported this new (since May 9th) submission: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/140859 It's not perfect, and I think a Lego Designer can improve on it, but it's a good start. Would love to have Donald Duck's 313 car next to the minifig!

  39. I actually had a check on this earlier today, last 5 sales on ebay uk were £200+. Not bad for a set which was readily available for £100 around xmas. Great set though!

  40. Sorry for going slightly off topic with these guys. There's a site over here called Adverts.ie, not sure what the Uk equivalent, but something like Craigslist. Fees are tiny so can sell at well below ebay rates, sales are generally cash and people come and collect from me. Sometimes it's paypal and I either get people to cover fees or send it by gift so no fees. If there's shipping involved I get them to pay it. With a big enough discount most sets can turn a profit, but obviously we only have so much cash to spend, so you still need to choose wisely. Many on here regret their 50%/60% off Chima purchases. There are some types of sets which I think are general winners. When like today Smyths reduce a €100 set to €50, it's hard not to win. Obviously you have a good discount to start with, but also these sets are substantial and look it. The importance of this is that people want to get bang for their buck and if they're seeing a big set at a decent price they're more likely to bite. The general public don't think about Lego as much as us and it's not necessarily that they're stupid, they just don't have our knowledge and don't react as fast as us. For example on the Ferrari Truck I visited 4 of the 6 Smyths in Dublin today picking up all 3 sets that were in those stores, so general public hasn't had the opportunity to buy at €50.

  43. 8 pages in and I come across this gem from everyone's favorite guru Ed. We're 3 years later now ..... let's see how that plays out Tower Bridge got more love letters after that comment - let's check the facts right now using the BP Price Guide: 8x 4x4 Crawler RRP $199.99 - now $363.13; diff $163.14 - total $1305.12 gross profit (81% ROI) 8x ToO RRP $199.99 - now $268.20; diff $68.21 - total $545.68 gross profit (34% ROI) 8x HH RRP $179.99 - now $399.93; diff $219.94 - total $1759.52 gross profit (122% ROI) 7x TB RRP $239.99 - now $212.13; diff -$27.86 - total $195.02 gross loss (-12% ROI) 7x AA RRP $159.99 - now $245.73; diff $85.74 - total $600.18 gross profit (54% ROI) Sure, TB hasn't retired yet so no uptick there - there's also 2 more years to go. Looking at this, the answer should have been "Haunted House" but even the maligned 41999 doesn't seem to have fared so badly ........

  46. You guys asked, and you shall receive. These were taken a couple of months ago, and I don't actually happen to have all the sets. Missing is the Imperial Shuttle, Ewok Village, and some winter village sets. Oh and detectives office is missing as well because it was destroyed by our friend's kid and had to be put back together which it was.
