  1. 7964 Republic Frigate . Awesome set to display IMO .
  2. Here is my set. 2 common elements missing. A dark tan 1x4 plate and light medium bley 1x4 curved slope.
  3. Won't sitting on them make the boxes even worse?
  4. Let's stop making up rumors. Minifiigures Plus has been around a long time and provide quality products at reasonable prices. There are still many Mom and Pop toy shops throughout the country that resell LEGO products.
  5. What about Assault on Hoth?!?!
  6. I'm working on an article that explores how to better understand and apply the concepts of "scale" to create better LEGO models. This raises a pretty fundamental question which I do not feel has been adequately answered within the LEGO community - what is the "scale" for the common LEGO figures we use in our models. Minifig / Minidoll Naturally, we want to start with the classic "minifigure", as well as the newer "minidoll" which has similar width and height. I calculated a value of 1:42 for the classic minifigure, and a value of 1:38 for the Minidoll. The minidoll has fairly realistic proportions, so I feel pretty good about that value. What do you think - do you agree with a value of 1:42 for the classic Minifigure? I have heard a scale of 1:48 cited in several places for the classic minifig, but I believe based on my calculations that this is mostly caused by folks rounding to 1:48, since this is a common scaling factor for model trains and architectural modeling. (I showed all my calculations at http://brickarchitect.com/scale/ so feel free to correct any mistakes in my measurements or calculations.) Miniland Moving on to the "Miniland" scale, which describes those brick built figures popularized at LEGO theme parks...Here, I determined a scale of 1:17 is most accurate, although I have also seen 1:20 cited in a few places. Does 1:17 seem accurate? What do those of you who work in this scale think? Nanofig / Statue fig Lastly, we have the newer "Nanofig" and "Statue fig" sizes. We all know that they are very tiny, but how tiny?By my calculations, they come in at about 1:80 for Nanofig, and 1:125 for Statue Fig. I'm very curious to hear what your thoughts are - It's pretty tricky to decide which measurements to use to calculate the height, especially on the smallest "statue fig" size. Are these values right? Thank you! Again, my detailed calculations and assumptions are clearly called out at http://brickarchitect.com/scale/ and I would really appreciate the help of the community to confirm that these values are as accurate as possible!Sincerely,---Tom Alphin
  7. Calling minifigures+ a pyramid scheme or even "resembles a pyramid scheme" is a little much in my opinion. I think you have no idea what an actual pyramid scheme looks like. The only promise minifigures+ makes is for a good delivered at a fair price. They don't guarantee you anything beyond that. Never have I seen them make claims or try to get you to recruit others. They are just further up the distribution chain than the rest of us, but that can be said for Wal-Mart, target and toys r us too.
  8. Very cool new Dengar, but that original one was special.
  9. Penobscot Annex, Detroit, Michigan - LEGO Model by Jim Garrett
  10. Thought I would test out the new GS7 Edge camera capabilities today and built a little stand to shoot this on for a min. I think the camera takes some pretty detailed shots for a phone. Figured a little ship could use a little company.
  11. Here at TRU w boys. Build is actually pretty good
  12. Second mini-movie I think in this short series of clips that someone may have mentioned should be six in total eventually. (I'm not sure honestly.)
  13. A little behind, but this is what I did this week after buying my first collection last weekend for $200. Passenger Plane #3181, Destiny'Bounty #9446, and Epic Dragon Battle #9450. I checked all the pieces for each set and recorded them (mostly some minifigs and weapons missing), built each set, broke them down into the individual bags. In an epic noob i.e. Move I took a bunch of pics during the airplane build but not of finished product. Plane is complete except for manual 1. Unfortunately the missing Ninjago figs range from $5-$20 each Pics of the 3 builds plus the lot itself.
  14. Stick a cork in it.
  15. I love the community in this community! Thank you so much for the offer. I actually found the last two I needed within 10 minutes back at WM this am. Smooshing goes much faster after you get a feel for the feel. My girls are already playing, mixing and free building with their complete set. I'm available if you need to outsource your smooshing

Sorry if it was posted elsewhere, but there are SUMMER 2016 minifigure images leaked / posted. The ultimate source looks like they were from a Russian site: http://minifigpriceguide.com/wordpress/summer-2016-lego-star-wars-hi-resolution-minifigure-images/ Some of these look pretty cool! Dengar? Nice!
  17. Finished building the DO with my son. My favorite modular build so far, so much fun!
  18. We can use this topic to share pictures and stories of "official" Lego prototypes (aka sketches) of products that were produced or not. Please cite the source if using info from other places. I discovered two sets of pictures today on eurobricks. The picture below is of a larger 1) Speeder Bike and 2) Tie Advanced model and was in a early 2000s Lego magazine. The official release of the UCS 10175 Vader Tie Advanced set debuted in 2006 / 2007. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=10175-1 Here is another pretty famous prototype of Yavin IV that appeared in DK's Star Wars Lego: The Visual Dictionary.
  19. Not sure if my pics really do it justice but i got my final bricklink order in to complete a Helms deep and uruk hai army lot that I got 95% complete. Also added another Uruk hai army and went slightly overboard on eBay getting a few more elves, orcs and wargs to flesh it out. Massive LOTR fan and these make a great display piece IMO - just wish i had more room to fully do it justice
  20. Here's another great early sketch but Fallingwater this time. It was in a late 2009 issue of Brick Journal.
  21. Here are the 10196 Grand Carousel early sketches. I like the end result better although the ticket window was an excellent idea and should have been kept. The designer , Steen Sig Andersen (Google him and you'll recognize his works) had a difficult time getting the rotation to work,
  22. OOT. Today is Free Comic Book Day http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Home/1/1/27/981
  23. Here are some Indiana Jones sketches and drawings that were featured in Brick Journal.
  24. If worse comes to worst I'll have a nice place to store my vintage pinot's and a place to keep my cheese sampler's.
  25. Young force sensitive Gungan and his scrappy Ewok pilot vs Darth Jar Jar, the one true Sith.
  26. Hoard is too busy discussing AoH and BL 10179 .
  27. Lack of hoarding can be a good thing.
  28. Started messing around with some of my macro filters...The depth of field is literally razor thin. I was about 4" in front of these guys while shooting , maybe less...I think I will begin shooting a few more mini figs like this...I like the results but have to play around more with the subject matter, sharkie and chen were just the first victims to get shot.
  29. Bricks and pieces order came. Built my own 40108 Balloon Cart poly
  30. Finished a pair of townhouses from the 10218. I mirrored one, have not decieded which way I will place them. Going to add another townhouse with the pet shop, should make a nice residential block for my town.
  31. latest builds. Tydirium is great, nice build, nice figs, looks good on it's own and great set for play, will do great once it’s retired. But, we all knew that, right? The Imperial Assault Carrier was a bit of a surprise, really enjoyed it. Build is fair enough, not too repetitive, lots of mini-builds that get bolted on to the main structure. It’s full of play features, technics handle (similar to the ISD) so swoosh-able, solid structure (nothing falls off), secret compartments, missiles, stun shooters, ability to drop Tie fighters on your cat. Great play set ship. But it’s a really ugly ship So much fun. But really, really ugly. No clue what it’d do in after EOL, can’t image they will be much AFOL demand, but it’s a really fun set. Figs may let it down a little. I only have the one built at the moment. Likely will get more.
  32. Finally got around to building part of the $15 bag I got on CL. Midi-MF is short 9 pieces and Y-Wing is short ~15 and the minifigures except R2. Do I sell or keep the MF?
  33. My personal opinion would be to put them away and forget about them for a few years. At this point everyone is undercutting each other, and there will soon be an influx of supply available to the masses. Some people have been reporting that there isn't a figure to be found anywhere in their market, while others are just the opposite and seem to have as many as they want to buy available to them. If you already cashed in on the initial launch then I'd consider that a win and wait with your other set to see what these can do once they are retired. Disney characters will always be popular, so there will certainly still be a market for these down the road. I only bought one sealed case, which I am keeping sealed, and already have it in cold storage.
  34. Judging from what i've seen over the last few years (and thanks to my spreadsheets showing purchase dates, discounts, retirement dates etc through the years), i'm convinced the following Star Wars sets retire in late fall/early winter. Reason is because many of these are either being clearanced at walmarts right now, or have the Lego LEGO Shop at Home sales. I'm not following buildable figures, so i'm not speculating on those or microfighters, but i'd suspect those will get culled too. I'm not speculating too deep on exclusives either because they are done to death, but i'd put my money on Sandcrawler and Ewok Village getting axed by december. ---------- Winter wave 2015 sets: All of them: ( Tie Advance Protype, Geonosis Troopers, Senate Commando Troopers, Imperial Troop Transport, Shadow Troopers, Battle Droid Troop Carrier (this may already be gone), Hailfire Droid ) Summer Wave 2015 Sets: All of them (Flash Speeder, Naboo Starfighter, Death Star Final Duel, Tydirium, Sith Infiltrator, Imperial Assault Carrier) - all of these are seeing 25% or more discounts lately. Walmart seems to be trying to get rid of their stock ( a solid sign of their production runs ending well before the Rogue One sets hit the market ) Force Awakens Force Friday sets: FO Snowspeeder, FO Transporter, FO Special Forces Tie Fighter (I think their final production runs maybe nearing) Winter Wave 2016 Sets: Resistance Troop Transporter, Battle on Takodana (the clearance of these sets right now is a solid sign. Last year, a lot of the winter wave sets only had a year run too, while others did not. I suspect the 3 of the 4 24.99 sets (Hoth Attack, Droid Escape, Obi Wan's Inteceptor, Carbon Freezing) will also carry on past this next year. Or maybe all 4 do. I'm not so sure about the following getting tagged this winter: Millennium Falcon, Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle, Poe's X-wing (I was convinced a while back, but i'm not so sure now since this never is clearanced), or any of the battle packs from this year. I think some of those sets will stick around past the end of this year and may go well into all of next year.
  35. My favorite SpongeBob set was the minty fresh AWD SB Flying Dutchman that I picked up for $4 and sold for $35
  36. I saw a few WM's around me with 49 IST's... When I finally got to them, they weren't there, however I did find 64.00 FO Transporters, a set I wanted to stock up on, so I bought quite a few. 25.00 off that set is worth it in my book. Over the last week, I bought 138 Disney Minifigures (down to just 19 and made a little over 350.00 on them), 4 IST's (1 from Lego for May the 4th, and 3 at 74.00 plus tax), 5 FO Transporters at 64.00, and a Sith Infiltrator (for personal collection). This year was actually cheaper for me than last year around this time.
  37. this only happens with TRU. rewards goes negative it was -3600 at one point... have been 2 months they haven't fixed it yet

UPDATE: 1. The original shipment of Disney minifigures is on schedule. 2. New supply for the Disney Series is delayed. We now expect to be listing the series again around the 14th or so. This, however, will be a preorder to see what demand is still out there. The new supply would ship around the 1st of June or so. 3. I apologize for those who have emailed and have not received responses yet. We have had an overload of questions from various sites. I will be responding within the next 48 hours.
  39. still the funniest conversation I've ever read on this board
  40. Just finished my homage to the ever beloved yellow castle! It was a bit of a trick to make it new enough to not be considered a 'modification' of an existing set, but I think it blends a lot of new elements along with the classic castle design to create something interesting!
  41. Third component of 5526 Skyline
  42. Built this over the last week. Only my second Technic build so far. I really do enjoy how well the gears, chains and different linking elements work in congruence with one another. Although the builds aren't quite as enjoyable as standard sets the end results are really intriguing. (Street Motorcycle 42036) I opted for the Retro Bike build and there are ample pcs left over but it still looks bad a$$.
  43. The Tumbler from 7888 - what a great vehicle. I officially own every System scale Batmobile - review to come.
