And the second we do that, we will have people say that they hate having to monitor two different threads for discounts. Just blow past those posts if they are not good for you. As others have stated, 10% here, or 20% there adds up towards making a good deal. It's worked for me plenty of times.

If they buyer fails to respond, you should definitely go ahead and authorize the return. Unfortunately Amazon allows buyers to return anything for any reason within 30 days of them receiving their purchase. They have already expressed they want to return b/c the set is to difficult for them. You authorizing the return should not be dependent upon whether or not you hear back from the buyer. Most buyers do not respond back to messages. Authorize the return and explain that once you receive the item back, they will either be 1) refunded in full if returned in brand new, sealed condition minus the shipping costs both ways since they are returning due to no fault of yours or 2) refunded minus up to a 50% restocking fee if returned in opened, used condition minus shipping costs both ways since they are returning due to no fault of yours. If you do not authorize the return, later the buyer could file an A-to-Z claim with Amazon. Amazon would then more than likely refund the buyer and allow them to keep the set since you did not authorize the return as you are required to per their policy. Make them return the set if they want a refund. They may even decide to not return the set since they are subject to paying the shipping and a restocking fee if they opened the set. If they return it back open/used, you are allowed to keep up to 50% as a restocking fee and they must pay for return shipping while you also deduct the original shipping fee if they paid shipping. ***Also note, earlier this year Amazon changed their A-to-Z policy. If the seller wins the claim and the buyer is denied, it no longer counts against your metrics.***

Seriously, if you don't want in on these deals don't bother to read the thread. Gift card deals are some of the best ways to get discounted LEGO in this market. If you have better deals, go ahead and post them. We'd love to see what you have to share with the community. I rarely find deals so I'm very grateful when others share, especially when it comes to gift cards.

I agree... I am very confident with MKII and Arocs for long term (2 yrs + after EOL). So 2 years from now for MKII and maybe 3.5 years for Arocs. Definitely not ¨for the faint of heart. Don`t really see it for the volvo though... But I didn`t write the book on lego investing

The Arocs set has the new pneumatics which should be around for a while... The trick with Technic is to be patient.. even more than regular LEGO. Quick flipping Technic is not for the faint of heart, but long term the Aroc, MKII, Volvo and a few others are really good sets that should do OK.

Communication is always good, especially if it ends up in a dispute that you want Amazon to settle by looking at the history. But in my experience, you have about a 3% chance of the buyer acknowledging your message or replying. If it was me, I would let them know I'd be happy to issue a full refund if the item is returned unopened. Since they changed their mind, its reasonable that they will have to pay for return shipping.

You have to take it back, whether its opened or not. When you receive it back you can decide whether to issue only a partial refund (that's how you deduct your restocking fee). There is a bit of a reference here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=901926 and you can charge 20% if unopened or 50% if opened. But there are some important things to keep in mind. 1. Any partial refund is more likely to generate negative feedback 2. If the buyer is unhappy with the refund, they may open an A to Z claim. That is a major ding whether they side in your favor or not. 3. If you issue a partial refund, you do not get any fee credit back from Amazon. So use your judgment and weigh the options before you issue the refund.

The 10% is from the CC company. Yes, they should not allow a CC discount when using a GC. It's a loophole that hasn't been closed is all. Most "associates" don't care. So, yes YMMV. I like to pretend that I forgot and say "I forgot I gotta get rid of this thing" and then deduct the amount from the GC in my head. I have no problem with them thinking I'm flighty...

I assume you're referencing the WM deal? For many people without some sort of tax exemption certificate, the WM price ended up around $185 with tax. The open box on eBay was $160 shipped, plus a potential $12.80 in eBay bucks.

It's scary how much I love this set every time I look at it...

Strange and eerie evil abounds..... Thursday I went into my local TRU where Miss Sourpuss works. She hangs out at the Customer Service desk so I waited until the regular cashier was next to finished with the customer ahead. Then I hear the call, "I can help the next person in line over here at the Service Desk". I start walking over there without looking and to my chagrin it's Miss Sourpuss Jr. (one of the previously mentioned 2 Lifer girlfriends of, Miss Sourpuss Sr.), and who is there next to her? The Original Gansta, Miss Sourpuss herself. Ugh...I involuntarily wince at the sight of her. She sees the pain on my face and surprisingly, she quickly leaves. Whew, one obstacle avoided. Now I go unto her well trained apprentice. Miss Sourpuss Jr. engages me politely but with an air of insincerity. I brought to the counter, Indominus Rex, used TRUTH, surrendered the physical 20% off coupon that I pulled off the mailer while standing in front of her, and now for the 15% off Paypal Digital TRU coupons - dead. $0 on all three! What is this treachery! Could the evil Miss Sourpuss Sr. have cast a spell on this transaction too? She wasn't anywhere to be seen but I knoweth of her great powers, for she conjures from thin air to appear with wretched face and the authority of "NO!". My dignity forces me to draw the line at stalking the parking lot to see who is working, but I think she even drives, err...flies, a broom to work, so I am a wary of her. I ask politely for Miss Sourpuss Jr. to try and check the balance of all 3 Paypal TRU gift cards and they all show $0. Dismayed, I tell her where the cards came from and that it is not her fault, probably a fluke. She looks on indifferently as I pay the total with my TRU credit card. With insincere pleasantries exchanged and feeling a little defeated, I now start to leave having forfeited about $16xx by not having money on those gift cards, instead paying with my TRU credit card. As I take a last look through the store while heading for the exit I see Miss Sourpuss Sr.'s head observe the entire transaction while hiding behind a short isle. Hmmm...did she actually shut me down with her powers? So after the mishap I go home and check my purchase records and telephone Paypal. Turns out it was a Paypal error and rep. issues me 3 new gift cards which are instantly activated. Was this a chance fluke or have the evil powers of Miss Sourpuss pervaded their way unto Paypal? I don't know but just to be on the safe side, I'm going to build a sacrifice made of Lego and toss it into a volcano, or the nearest available fire pit and hope it relieves my vex, err...hex.
