  1. Star Wars Microfighters at 50% off has been just about the best performing lego investment i've made in the last 2 years. buying and selling over 60 $5 Tie interceptors and Millennium Falcons and selling them for $26 (interceptors) and $36-40 (MF's) with first class shipping $2.60 anywhere in the US helped make Feb 2016 my 3rd best money making month in the last 2 years. even the microfighter x -wings which i paid $7 for and sold for $26 were a great investment.

Let's give the Dimensions team some slack. They had a tight deadline so they could begin work designing the Assault on Hoth.
  3. More like minor dispute/altercation on Hoth
  4. Quite a funny experience this morning. I went food shopping with the Mrs. this morning to Tesco. I picked up a scanner and while she was putting the lottery on i asked her to meet me in the Toy aisle. As i was walking alone towards the aisle i heard a little voice behind me " Daddy, i love Lego. Lets go and see the toys". I looked around straight away and there he was - Timmy. Quickly speeding up i reached the Lego section, a quick look about and there i saw them. Those Microfighter Vulture droids marked on the shelf at £7 but scanning at £2. Getting out my scanner i double checked the item - Bingo £2, within 10 seconds i whip 2 rows of them into my trolley ( 14 in total ) Then i hear him, little Timmy " Daddy, look Lego Age of Ultrons". Little Timmy's Father says " Timmy that is too expensive, you need to look at something cheaper than that. Then his parent starts to show him the other toys. " No, no , no, I want Lego he screams " Straight away my Mrs arrives, looks in my trolley and gives me that look. Then i explain the situation to her about little Timmy screaming behind us. Reluctantly i pick one of Microfighters out of the trolley and ask her to go and offer it to Little Timmy's father and mention that it's normally £10 but it scans at £2. She gives it to little Timmy's father and he says " Timmy do you like Lego Star Wars?". A loud scream follows " i want Age of Ultron !!! " and he gives it back to us. Moral of the story is ???
  5. Tomorrow at Target
  6. Scooby pack is a good buy . Finally pulling the trigger on that
  7. For what it's worth, I buy retired sets all the time for more than RRP. I'm your target buyer here. You know what trumps a minty, mint box? A good sales price. If I am searching eBay for set "X" that retailed for $199, and see twenty listings at $350 with stock photos /pictures of "perfect"'boxes and one listing at $340 with a crease, guess which one I'm buying? Even better would be a dented box for $325! Why, because I'm already paying way over retail for the set to build, not to admire the pristine packaging. This isn't an action figure or a funko pop that I plan to leave in the box. Obviously I don't want a box that's beat all to crap, but for the right discount, I'm in. I buy damaged box exclusives for personal build all the time. Think about how quick the AWD get snapped up for good sets.
  8. Correct. I was referring to the person who lifted your picture and posted it on bricksetforum. (Or who also gets their flyers on Saturday, has the same countertop, and the same pages underneath the ad). As an AFOL I am all for sharing information. But if one is to take someone else's picture, the least that person could do is give credit for it. Sorry if my post was vague.
  9. Obviously you never bought wave 1 eh?
  10. Moral of the story is the kid even knows to stay away from SW Micros even for £2. I'm on his side. Sounds like a smart brat
  11. Because of the double points I bought a Helicarrier at LegoShop, kept on doubting about this one... But when I saw the seal 24S5 , no more doubts...
  12. Another place to consider: I ended up with the Infiltrator at TRU with the 20% off and a free Airjitzu.

Taking a comment about the build from one of the deconstruction images.
  14. You could also have changed your handling time on the items. If someone purchased any items while you were away, contact them right away to confirm that they were aware of the delay in shipping. Of course, if the buyer has any issue whatsoever with a delay, you would then refund/cancel the transaction. It is also much quicker/easier (and more accurate) to mass change the handling time, than to try to adjust all of those prices.

  16. buy them and sell them to me for $70 ea. easy $11 profit for you

Chirping in, the game is garbage. We buy most Tt games, avengers is 100 times better. It's almost like they put their B team on dimensions, the levels all feel awkward and forced
  18. Vamp Castle would be at least $50 higher easily if not for TRU. Lego made the set exclusive to TRU for 12+ months after everyone else sold out And we know what this means. It's like the Walking Dead version of the Island of Misfit Toys. Lego sets like Joker's Funhouse and Vamp Castile die a slow death due to TRU slightly higher mark-up compared to eBay.
  19. how many is "some" and how many did you sell to this one buyer? it was ridiculous for you to tell them to contact shop at home. anytime you say "could have sworn" it means "i didn't check". for a set that cost you $30 out of pocket and brought you negative feedback, i'd say ok - return the set and i'll give you a refund just to get rid of the feedback (coming from a guy with 100% + feedback since the 1990s). i'm surprised you didn't get a SNAD (significantly not as described) which is why i don't think you were being scammed. scammers like money, not leaving negative feedback.
  20. My Lego store did not have the chicken suit guy. Or at least the employees didn't know about it. YMMV.
  21. Did any of you tried the tru 20% coupon couple of times?

Speaking of the Hair. My UCS Tie Fighter just arrived. Minty, which is strange considering his supplier. But I gave myself a papercut opening it up.

UPS knocks on the door, which is unusual BTW and never, ever happens if the box is destroyed but this one was not. He states that signature is required. No problem but I look at the box and it's an Amazon box. I think to myself, the only thing outstanding from Amazon (off the top of my head) is the Dimensions Ghostbusters new release. Surely, that big box isn't holding a couple Dimensions packs. I'm expecting those to arrive in a severely damaged envelope not a pristine big box. So, I say to the UPS driver are you sure that's for here as I'm signing for the package and he says "yeah." I say ok, pick up the box and check out the label. Sure enough, right address. I bring the package inside, set it down and go back to what I was doing before the knock on the door. I go through the outstanding orders in my head and about 5 minutes later I realize, oh yeah, I placed an order on eBay from hair...
  24. I wouldn't say that a single free promo would flood the market. It may curb the demand a bit. But supply won't flood any more than resellers buying 20+ at a time from TRU.
  25. Agree: 20% off + 2 x VIP + Chicken Suit Guy + Kai's Mini Dragon is the definition of a good deal in my book.
  26. Sign into VIP account add $2.48 key chain add free shipping code (ones from 2014 cards still work) go about your day
  27. Great, now we have to deal with 2 kind of dents on expensive sets I put one discounted Dimension pack to cart and it added the chicken coop as well.
  28. Free Chicken Suit Guy is live on LEGO Shop at Home. Not sure what the minimum purchase is but its showing as a free promo with a cart over $100. Ninjago Mini Dragon is also still there. Email from LEGO states "2 days only! while supplies last"
  29. While eBay's final value fee is based on total price (sales price + S&H); PayPal's 2.9% transaction fee does not include S&H. Therefore, a $100 free shipping item will have a $2.90 + $.30 = $3.20 Paypal fee, an $80 + $20 S&H item would be $2.32 + $.30 = $2.62. I realized this when my Paypal fee in the document I exported from them came out consistently lower than the amount I had in my Excel spreadsheet, because I had the same question as you, since the optics of such a tactic were bad.
  30. DK LEGO Star Wars Build Your Own Adventure Coming later this year (no exact release date). It will include a microfighter style Y-Wing and Rebel Pilot.
  31. Car is cool, but how many people outside of vintage race car enthusiasts are really going to know what it is? When I was reading through this on mobile, I hadn't a clue what a Caterham 7 was. Adventure Time is not getting my dollars either. My son watched it for a little bit a couple years ago, but hasn't in some time now. Lego needs to wake TF up. 2 more Lord of the Rings submissions made 10k. Lego, AFOL's love LotR and will buy big D2C sets from it. I'm not even close to the biggest LotR fan out there, but I'd love to have Rivendell, or Minas Tirith, or Edoras, etc. We got none of that except for that poor Council of Elrond set.
  32. Not that I believe any normal retailer (TRU, BN, LEGO, Target, Wal*Mart) goes out of their way to ensure a well packaged item, but I cannot recall the last large box ($80 MSRP or greater) that I received from any of those retailers that did not show up with some damage. Part of that is carelessness of the retailer. The other part is it is very hard to package a set of UCS size and weight sufficiently that it can withstand whatever shipping abuse is handed out and arrive at the buyer in "Mint" condition. I would almost rather start with sets with some minimal shelfwear or damage simply because I can clearly disclose that and feed out the persnickety buyers in search of perfection.
  33. I haven't seen them. Haven't looked either.
  34. They keep sending me $6 in surprise points towards a purchase of $14 or more, and I keep buying the same $14.99 item and doing a local pickup for effectively a 40% discount, especially since they subtract points BEFORE calculating tax :). No complaints, beats many of my clearance deals, and this is for fresh product, not remnants.

    From Eurobricks today:
  36. Not sure why... 47 x Series 10 CMF - $2.97 each at Wal-Mart
  37. After reviewing the model with my dad, who's been on multiple occasions, I went ahead and did some tweaks. It didn't make sense that the mountain would crest above the aqueduct, so I trimmed it a bit. Then, looking at every arial shot, I couldn't avoid the fact that the hillside is completely forested. So I built some trees, had to get a little creative to make them small enough/fit the scale. Used a similar idea to what's done on the Detective's Office street tree, but smaller. Put in some green slopes here and there to dot the rocks with greenery. Then added a display stand and tiles, to label it like an Architecture set. New projected price point ~$602 according to BrickOwl's calculator. It requires 12 ultra rare parts, the "Tan Slope 1x2 Triple" (the cap pieces to the angled flanges on the bottom tier struts). There is only 1 seller in the world with stock, and he's charging $5.35 per piece. I guess there are more expensive parts out there, but rarely do you need 12 (or in the case that my dad wants a copy, 24) of them. Ugh. Quite happy with how it's turned out though! It would be super cool if Lego explored an "Ancient Architecture" sub theme at some point in the future. At this scale I suppose this is sort of a cross between Architecture and Creator Landmark, but it sure would be cool if they did it at any scale! Edit: ^^ Click in and go Full size, it's a huge detailed render, preview on the thread doesn't do justice to BlueRender's abilities!
  38. Seems like the guy commenting in that video doesn't know any other verdicts than "awesome", "super awesome", "so, so, so awesome" or any other combination of the word "awesome" with whatever you like... This is best to be watched with the sound off, but wait, then there's also the bad video quality...
  39. i went to toy fair in new york and shot this video... i cued it up to the angry birds start but you might want to watch the whole video (and the other 2 vids -3 in total) since they give you a glimpse of all the new upcoming sets.
