  1. Just finished building 10221 SSD. Very rewarding build but getting the large top parts fitting correctly cam be a pain.
  2. Finished this one last night with my 5 and 7 year old. Found it in a beat up box for $30, so it was a no-brainer build. It must have been a success, because afterwards my daughter said: "I think I like the Star Wars Legos better than the Friends ones...or at least as much as the Friends ones." Score.
  3. 2 x Ecto-1 using the $20 off $100 on EBay. $40 each
  4. Some of you may be eligible for this. Ebay $20 off $100 until 7pm PST $20 off purchase of $100+ with code CMADNESS10 Eligible items exclude Coins & Paper Money, eBay Gift Cards, Motors, Business & Industrial, and Real Estate
  5. My first two builds.... :-)

just parted out 11 of these worth about 4100 in part out value. Quite a task let me tell ya, biggest part out to date for our little store.
  7. Does it matter if "regular" is spelled incorrectly?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252315842453 Good deal on retired set ^
  9. Got a 76053 from K-Mart for 0.00 cash and 19.99 in K-Mart points. That people continue to ignore K-Marts SYR program boggles the mind.
  10. Can it be a dark horse with 5 million horded
  11. 9 of Friends 41086 Vet Ambulance @ $2.50 each
  12. My TRU won't accept anything on the phone. They grab the phone, waive it around and yell "Customers, this is what not to do!"
  13. This worked for me, no email, no nothing. Ebay $20 off $100 until 7pm PST $20 off purchase of $100+ with code CMADNESS10 Eligible items exclude Coins & Paper Money, eBay Gift Cards, Motors, Business & Industrial, and Real Estate http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574983160&toolid=10001&campid=5337475114&customid=sig&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2FLEGO-%2F18998%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3Dlego
  14. I like stacking coupon eligible stuff with the $10 off $75 coupons and then stacking a points back coupon on top of that. I use points to get whatever I'm buying down to $50. Then I'll use a discounted gift card on top of that. This is pretty much my repeatable formula. Medium sized sets or a number of small sets are my target. I rarely buy large sets from them, unless they are near retirement or if I have a load of points in my account. Some people don't like the smaller sets, but they do great for me.
  15. Chapters/Indigo is doing 10x plum points on all lego sets and books until the end of the month. That works out to around a 15% discount if you save the points and redeem at the maximum level down the road. Might have to check a few stores to see what's on sale/clearance.
  16. Well, yes, either way.
  17. Thanks, took a chance. I had some rewards to burn.

I picked this up last night for grins and giggles, I was blown away by the quality of the book. It's really detailed both factually and in terms of its visual layout. It includes interviews with architects representing some of the biggest firms today, in which they explain their personal connection to LEGO and how LEGO imbues the core concepts of design in children (of all ages!). I will probably pick up a few more sets for play, but I don't see this as much of an investment set for the same reasons others have cited: I think it will be in production for a long time, and the price per brick is inflated. For those interested in buying this set to explore the concepts of architectural design, I would also recommend the LEGO Architecture book by Tom Alphin. It's a lot less dense than the book that comes with 21050, but for someone with very limited knowledge of architecture (like myself), it gives a quick and engaging overview of the history of architecture. It also includes instructions for small builds that are representative of the various styles of architectural design, which makes it a great companion piece for the set. Even without this set, it works well as a nice little coffee table book. But you don't have to take my word for it!

Did you check your "stranded inventory" to see if it was warehouse damaged? Also try running your daily inventory report for that item under the fulfillment reports and see when it dropped off.

The sets were "purchased" at Barnes and Amazon using stolen Credit Cards or other shady business. Then dropshiped to his address. By buying he indadvertedly contributed to criminal activity. This thread is not the place to rant about this but there is plenty of related discussion on BP that you might want to read. Just remember the easy rule of thumb: If it looks too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
  21. If you are missing an item during recieving you have to reconcile your shipment from the shipping queue and that will automatically open a case . if an item goes missing after it was recieved by amazon u can select other Amazon issues and make your case. Some screens shots or details about the item movement will tremendously help your case . It is almost a guaranteed reimbursement if you have the facts right.
  22. I found this remarkable and quite unexpected! In the large (more than 60,000 members) LEGO Community on Google+ I put up a poll asking people to vote for favourite Advanced Modular building from the five currently available (i.e. not officially Retired) sets. The result really surprised me: Mind you: these people who voted are not resellers but kids, teenagers and adults who play with Lego and enjoy building sets and MOCs. I'm really stunned about the overwhelming preference for Detective's Office where I had expected a much larger liking for Parisian Restaurant. Even Palace Cinema got more votes than the restaurant! Does anyone here have a good explanation for this remarkable result?
  23. I spoil you guys sometimes LittlewoodsIreland.ie or Very.co.uk have 3 for 2 on some Star Wars sets, particularly Shuttle Tyderium, Death Star Final Duel and the First Order Snowspeeder. They also have Ninjago's Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty and in the UK only they have Attack on Avengers Tower, also 3 for 2. The prices are slightly above RRP, but still very good savings. For me it worked out as Shuttle Tyderium's for €70 each and Death Star Final Duel's for €60 each.

LIFO fulfillment isn't exactly logical ... Might as well do everything backwards!
  25. Yes, but Grand Hotel is just a year old ... not retired at all. Selling a retired set (granted, in a desirable line) is a completely different game than selling a set when you're competing with normal retail channels, especially since platforms like EBay (12-13%) and Amazon (18-20%) take a big chunk of your profits. And with big sets you have to compete with their free shipping policies as well, which for us mortals means for big sets: big bucks.
  26. First lesson: Never sell via auction unless you don't care what price you sell for. As it stands, you have now sponsored someone's Grand Hotel because assuming you can indeed ship that big box for $14, your total sale price for EBay and Paypal's purposes is $91, and they will take 13% between the two of them - $12. If you didn't have any shipping costs (i.e. you have a box ready) and don't factor in the time it took to hunt this deal and gas etc, you are making $65 (so your loss is the tax you paid on the purchase - assuming 7% (but could be higher) this is ~$5 lost. Then again, the best lesson is a painful lesson. I think you would have easily sold if you put it up as a 10 or 30 day BIN for $99 plus shipping, or even higher (but including shipping). That doesn't make you a ton of money either, but you should be able to get ~$10-$15 out of it. Alternatively you can list as auction, but set your beginning bid at a level where you at least make a profit. All this is of course assuming your only strategy is a Quick Flip, which will be hard on the Grand Hotel as it is readily available at retail (and sometimes at a discount). As this is a pretty neat set (a Trump style hotel with all the gold ) it will likely go up slightly in value post retirement, or, around the Christmas holidays if stock runs out. Those are the right moments to sell this set - not now when they can be bought at retail or less. You might want to consider putting them in a closet and forgetting about them for 6 months or longer, then check back. Or see if you can sell them for $100 on Craigslist -> no fees, or put them up here on Brick Classifieds (also no fees).
  27. United Nations Headquarters x 2 @ $24.94! From Lego Store in Anaheim...
  28. Got a UCS Tie Fighter from the Hair. Was hoping to score a Slave 1, but seems he is out.

Always listen to the wife. Mine always complained that I didn't let her build Lego sets, so I offered to have her help me built the Parisian Restaurant. She's now hooked. The Parisian Restaurant is a great build with lots of details. We built the new Lakeside Lodge recently and she was insistent on building the moose. It's all good!
  30. Toys 'R' Us ad news Starting on the 11th. Minifigure packs are 2 for $5. Free Ninjago Airjitsu Kit with $50 Lege purchase. 20% off regular priced item coupon #978537 Valid 3/11-3/26.
  31. I'd much more prefer a cancel request over a return request any day...
  32. Building 10182 cafe corner. I like how CAFE is spelled out in the pavement.
  33. My store just got the chicken suit guy in stock...limit 1 per customer. I sweet talked the lady into letting me have 2. Also found out the new Batman vs Superman Batmobile polybag got pulled from the shelf and wont be available till Sunday.
  34. Hey. I got 8 Mirkwood Elves @ $15 each and 16 Snowplows @ $11 a piece. It felt even greater to walk out of a Kmart with a free Snowspeeder. I also end up with $10-$20 in points after most of my purchases. Don't talk about my sugardaddy that way! =)
  35. What would I do? I would buy the city square or the cargo train especially if you can pair it with points back coupons (example, I bought some cargo trains at $100 and earned 32 back in points)

Yes, 20% is rad. But I get tired of the limited inventory that K-Mart has. 10% at lego.com for double VIP is WAY more enticing on stuff that I want, compared to 20% at K-Mart on stuff that I don't want. If you are stocking up on mid-size Star Wars sets, Scooby, or City, knock yourself out. But I'm not going to find an Ewok Village or a Sandcrawler at K-Mart.
  37. This will be our 3rd year in a row. And my now 6 year old is excited as well my 12 yr old nephew. We always check out the Lego Store too, while we are in town. We also eat at a restaurant called Twin Peaks that is a sports bar built like a large log cabin. Scenery is Beautiful inside =)
  38. EV came out before SC.... With the Sand Crawler LEGO made an unofficial/official statement that from now on they'd be slapping that big stupid gold seal on UCS sets to alleviate any concern LEGO fans might have on whether a set was UCS or not. So ... SC, S1, Tie are officially UCS sets. Prior to that, well, you're going to have to use your judgement for sets such as EV and R5.
  39. Yep I think you are absolutely right, I think I mentioned it earlier, that badge will help them sale more of them to the collectors amongst us !!! Unfortunately Its all about the money at Disney !!

Unless the item is REALLY popular, I've found Auction format can be a huge gamble. It just depends on pure luck. The right interested buyers all have to start bidding on your item for it to get bid up to a high point (multiple keenly interested parties make items climb). Majority of my experience is that people will bid up to the point of the next lowest priced seller and stop there, knowing full well they could go BIN from the cheaper seller... but because bidding started, you're stuck with whatever last price they decided to go to, and you have to sell it to them at that (less than desirable) price. As a shopper, Auctions can be excellent scores because of this! The fact of the matter comes down to patience. If you want to sell for $95, I'd personally list at $110 BIN with OBO, and patiently wait for an interested party to come along. You'll probably get offers around $80 (close to the price you sold for), which is a much better starting point for negotiating up towards your intended selling price. Lots of great pictures can potentially help sell a used item, but I've had as much success pulling the default image from LEGO Shop at Home for a NISB set as I've had for taking detailed photos of that set. If people ask for detailed photos, provide them of course, but not absolutely necessary. In my experience. Which is less than 1 year of limited amount.
  41. I too was at a Walmart today in Columbus. They had the Jungle Rescue in clearance section for $30. So I left that. But they also had 2 of the Friends 41058 Heartlake Shopping Mall for $54. Picked up both of those.
  42. Welcome enthusiast! I buy a (hmm...) couple of each set. Then when it's either retired or retiring, if I haven't already opened and built one of them, I wrestle for awhile about should I open and build or save it. The dilemma never ends...
  43. Finally managed to find some Trackers at $50. It's not $45, but it will have to do Boxes were a bit beat up, one had seals broken, but everything's still there. Likely returns/found damaged items from the back as i didn't see them here before. I also found a lonely Ant-Man on the shelf for $10!! however the instant i picked the box up.. i could tell it had been gutted I shook it around and all you could hear was the instruction manual. Seals weren't broken and no visible damage to the box. Maybe they used that ungluing the box technique, boooo. Otherwise no new lowered prices yet, still end caps after end caps of full price/$10 off stuff.
  44. This was a fun one...built yesterday mostly by my 5.5 yo.
  45. So, in effect, unless authorized, selling future SW LEGO on Amazon is a big no-go for most of us.
