  5. as I was locking this topic, another member was trying reply. here is what @Zelgazra typed.... If you do a bit more reading you'll come across this answer, scattered across multiple posts in multiple threads, so to summarize: If the set is rare and sought after enough in the aftermarket, you might actually have been dealt an advantage. Many collectors that intend to build the sets want to have some certified verification that the set is indeed 100% complete. If you've got a sought after set that's "Open Box, Sealed Bags" you'll likely drive more traffic to your posting at a marginally reduced price point than the going rate. People are willing to pay very close to top dollar for the assurance of a complete set, if it's popular enough. If it's an average set without too much demand, you're probably looking at sacrificing 15-20% of your projected selling price. This results in taking less profit [in the case that it plateaus before you can realize your intended potential] or you have to wait longer for appreciation to reach your projected selling price [again factoring in 15-20% off going market rates]. Depending on whether the set is still available on store shelves, how many were purchased that ended up as duds [popped seals] in relation to MISB, your personal morals surrounding returning products, and general consensus on the set's rarity will all play factor into whether you 'bite the bullet' or not. Each to their own really. P.S. As a sound piece of advice, I'd suggest never listing your items as "Mint". The definition is loose at best, and your definition of Mint may not equate to your buyer's definition of mint, nor do you have any control over how the postal service treats your package from the moment it leaves your hands to the moment it arrives in your buyer's. You're potentially just opening up the door to an "Item not as described" claim, which in many cases they will win. A great piece of advice I've picked up over the last year is to under-sell the quality of your items. New in Sealed Box is fine; that way, if the postal service does an excellent job, and your set does arrive MINT to your buyer, they will be exceptionally happy and reward you with excellent feedback. If it doesn't arrive MINT, they have nothing to fault you on based on your item description. Well worth it when you're starting out, positive feedback is key! Hope this is somewhat helpful.

  8. Still waiting on the few parts i need to finish this up. So for the time being I've just been playing around with the Paddock interior. Moving plants around, adding plants, removing plants. And adding in fun little scenes/items. I've also finished the Goat enclosure. I don't have room for the washroom as previously discussed, but i decided to add a little Restroom sign that the Lawyer will be running to Clever girl..... Just about finished. Waiting on track pieces, Lawyer pieces, T-Rex Paddock sign parts, and a couple plants to finish it up.

  12. Hi Guys - hope this ask comes across in a reasonable way but can everyone try to keep the posts in this thread as on topic as possible please? I know I have been guilty of this in the past of trying to derail but of all the threads to keep a relatively "on-topic only" mantra I think this is one that would suit best There are separate threads for "order status", "what condition did my box come in" and those are better places to update everyone on those topics. Now to go and find the next thread to call the fun police on.

  14. Just do some research on amazon or ebay, your choice. I don't believe series 2 was as mass produced as series 13 or series 14, but they took forever to sell out, and required a clearance sale at lego. In many walgreens around my area, I could go into them and pick up 3 or 4 more complete sets out a few stores if I wanted. Some targets in my area still have them. They haven't moved at all. They came out in late april, and here we are a year later, and about half the stock still remains. Meanwhile series 13 and series 14 are gone. I just think the signs are there that the simpsons are a slow seller. I just checked, and I've sold only 3 bundles of simpsons lego minifigures since I put them up in august of last year. I've sold many many times that with Series 14. Only the one per case figures like Mr Burns, Comic Book Guy, Grandpa Simpson have some real value to them. The rest mostly sell under retail, or to a point where you are going to lose money after fees/shipping. SO, yes, i'm talking from mere experience here, as at one point, I felt these were gold and would be a hot commodity, well that never turned out to be the case. I should have learned from Series 1, where the margins have been as slim, but I felt after they announced Series 2, series 1 would surely go higher. It's barely moved up at all. Series 2 is a money loser at this point, and I don't expect much from them. I bet I lose 50 to 60 dollars per case from these when all is said and done and I factor in fees/time/shipping… Granted, you win some and you lose some, but the simpsons are a "lose some". So, i've already invested about a grand in Simpsons lego's and would I take a gamble on something like the quickee mart? No. Not even spending 200 on one. I don't believe just because it's an exclusive that is going to help it. I don't think many people are going to pull the trigger on a quickee mart at 400.00 or even 300.00. That's how little faith I have in lego simpsons at this point. We are already seeing cracks in the exclusive market, and so how deep do you want to dig? I don't know about you, but i'm not digging deeper with the Simpsons.

  17. How much discounted inventory are you seeing out there? I think these random eBay deals are people that got lucky finding clearance for 50-75% off and are flipping them. Not to mention the store closings this time of year where a select few are scoring great deals. The TFA sets haven't even been out 6 months yet so I'm not sure why you would be concerned about inventory levels this early on. Maybe I'm missing something though.

  18. so I was at my local K-mart. lego shelves literally cleaned out. I ask the associate, did you guys clear this out recently? She says "oh yea, making space for new product." I ask "do you have any more clearance stuff left?" she directs me to the proper area and these are the two I find...

  24. Target has had great clearance deals over the last few months ... not as crazy as Walmart, but depending on the store 30-50-70% off. This was straight after the holidays. And they have a stock tracker that is reliable (see the stock tracker here at BrickPicker). Now they have reset their shelves and loaded the new sets, so clearance deals have gone (save a few, such as the 50% off Grievous/ObiWan packs, and their 50-70-90% clearance ladder on the little seasonal polybags right after Valentine's/Easter etc.) I'm sure there will be a new round of clearance soon, but it is not all-out like Walmart. And as mentioned before, the clearance %-age depends on the area your store is in ....

  25. For all the talk about "not selling" and "slow moving", the 02S6 seals on my Simpsons House seem strange to me. "Oh man, The Simpsons House is not selling at all, let's make some more!" You'd think they would stop producing them if they have a bunch of leftover stock. Or are they doing a last run and then letting it fade out slowly?

  27. Hi,. I locked this thread because popped seals and opened boxes with sealed inner contents have been discussed plenty of times and ample information exists in blogs and threads. Let me know if you need help locating that info (look at my signature also). for some sets, owners won't care about popped seals if the inner bags/ white boxes are sealed. These are the folks who either want to build the set after buying or verify their purchases aren't "resealed". Expect comparable / slightly lower than MISB sales on average. If a MISB / NISB set routinely sells for $1000, your set will still get close to that...maybe $925 to $975. It really depends on the rest of the box. 1-2 popped sells isn't a big deal since the inner contents are still sealed. For some buyers, they only want perfect boxes. These folks are hard to please because box damage does sometimes happen during shipping transit no matter how great you pack. Again, not all people are like this but some exist and it's their right to want perfect boxes. Some folks on here including me pull prefer new sets in opened boxes to verify the bag count. regrdless, NEVER TRY TO REPAIR THE POPPED TAPE SEALS. it will just cause your trouble down the road.

It really is a great looking set. My daughter has one and it's the only Friends set that I truly enjoyed building with her. Patience is the key.

  37. I haven't reviewed a microfighter before. I like Star Wars. I like Star Wars vehicles. I think these are cute. I have avoided doing the reviews because they didn't fit with my collection. The Resistance X-Wing Fighter had something different about it. LEGO Microfighters are small, and don't take long to build. Hopefully my self indulgence with the pictures amuses you. If not, I apologize. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 75125 Name: Resistance X-Wing Fighter Theme: Star Wars Parts: 87 Price: $9.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At 9.99 the price per piece works out to almost $.115 each. This is on the high/middle side of pricing for a licensed set. There is 1 minifigure. (This is standard for Microfighters.) The minifigure is unique. On the packaging he is listed as Resistance X-Wing Pilot. It's Pretty obvious that this figure represents Snap Wexley portrayed by Greg Grunberg. As such, I'm going to refer to him as Snap Wexley or maybe just Snap. (I wonder if he's got brothers named Crackle and Pop.) BOX CONTENTS Some people may wind up picking up a set that is open box or, want to verify the box contents before beginning a build. For this set, there are 2 unnumbered baggies and an instruction book. Speaking of the box, this is the only microfighter that I know of that has a tape sealed box instead of a punch tab. BUILD AND EXECUTION There are no numbered bags, s let's just dump this and get started. I asked Snap to help me put his ship together. I think he's giving me a thumb's up. I don't know where he's going but we've barely gotten started. Snap said that he needs a rest. I have no idea where he even got that chair, none of those parts are included. Wait a moment, Snap. You said a rest, nothing in your contract about a mandatory lunch break. Ugh, I've gotten derailed. Just ignore Snap and his loafing. As you can see, I've built the back portion of the X-Wing. Now, we've added a couple more attachment points for wings and some decoration on the back. As Snap finishes his snack, the front of the X-Wing goes in place. Notice the U-Clips on top and bottom to prevent the wings from opening too far. Snap's finally ready to help out after putting his stuff away, The ship is almost done. We just need to add the cockpit canopy and the wings. The instructions have you build the wings in pairs. Maybe Snap's ready to help out now. Oh, sure. He's posing like he did something. REACTION I can enjoy the chibi aesthetic. The cutesy look of the squat ship is fun. It just doesn't really fit in with my collection and display. Especially since my kids have destroyed all of the other ones that I built. If they hadn't lost some of the pieces, I'd likely be trying to get all of them. The minifigure looks good. We might not ever see him released in a larger set, so it's a good time to pick him up. The print on his helmet is great. FINAL THOUGHTS The microfighters are an interesting conundrum. Most of the sets are just troop builder stuff. a few have been unique minifigures. The first question that we have to ask ourselves is, is this character going to be remade? With JJ Abrams stepping away from Star Wars, will Greg Grunberg return for future installments? In many ways, this character reminds me of Porkins. A minor X-Wing pilot with a few memorable scenes, but no lasting impact on the series. Plus, there's the beard. To be serious, there are a lot of X-Wing pilots. There are a lot of unique helmets and heads that they can make before they need to revisit a background character. Look how long it has taken LEGO to revisit Biggs and Wedge. The main draw that I see in this set is the minifigure, and he's not important enough to make this set escalate in value. The second thing that we need to think of is whether this ship is iconic enough to draw in the fans later. Yes, it is an X-Wing. X-Wings are iconic. But, it's not a hero ship. It will be a nice to have, not a need to have. Kids who have relatives that want to get them one of the important ships in LEGO form will scoop this up, because it will always be cheaper than every other X-Wing released. Even if the individual price on this kit goes up, it will always be hampered by the value of a real X-Wing set. Even polybags could torpedo the value. The third and final thing to look at for this set is where it fits in the series. The third series of microfighters will be stumbling block for this line. LEGO has heavily loaded this series with sinkers. I feel that serious collectors will take a pass on almost everything in this series. What does that mean for the future? Well, if collectors ignore this on the shelves, they won't get a lot of refreshes. If the Microfighters line continues, there may be those who circle back around later to sweep the entire series. I would pin any future movement on how limited the number of refreshes are this year. But, if they don't sell at all, regardless of rarity they won't be worth anything in future. I wouldn't expect this set to sell as well post EOL as the Series 1 X-Wing. EXTRA PIECES There are 2 extra pieces. View full blog article

  38. Probably for the next 3-4 months, then once they slowly vanish people will wish they bought them. Just my opinion, but i can't think of many better exclusive sets to buy at the moment if your looking to sell in a couple of years or so. Even if you bought now you could make 20% quite easily i would imagine.
