I respectfully disagree chipbee. The more supply there is of 'rare' sets, the lower we can all charge for our product. This is capitalism, and simple economics. If we are talking about investors buying off other investors, that's one thing. But in the long term, more investors means more competition to sell, and more competition to buy at a discount. I see it as meaning I'll pay more to purchase my product (since I have to compete with more people to buy it), and potentially sell it for less (because new investors have bought 20 tumblers).

I propose that from now on we assign codenames to all sets worthy of retirement speculation, and use the official name in all other threads, but the codename only in this thread. To find the set behind the codename would require reading several pages of history, spread out over the entire threads length, to avoid easy peeks .... Sort of like a Dan Brown novel

Man, the sensitivity meter sure did escalate quickly. What I don't get, is why Trek feels the need to want to be all hush hush about stuff. And he mentioned it is the internet, so what exactly are you so worried about and so quick to take it personally? Look if the Sandcrawler is indeed on the way out, those that have an opportunity, or who have already gathered their required number, are going to fare very well. I have it built, and it's a beautiful set. One last thing, isn't this site about helping each other out and passing information along? I mean this is an investing site. And I understand the selfishness of some of you guys who don't like all the new investors, but that's just a reality of life. News is going to get out, and the hoard will do it's thing like it has the last couple of years.

I certainly respect the work put into this, and it looks great for what it is, but i don't see it becoming a set. The adult collector in me says it needs to have some walls taken out to display properly, but then that sort of ruins the model. LEGO would really need to add play features to this to appeal to the younger audience, but then they already did Palpatine's Arrest which would look very similar and arguably have a more "play" oriented scene depicted. I can see the tag-line now: "Now you can host your own politics infused Jedi-Council meetings and decide the fate of the chosen one through intense deliberations!"

That movie is hilarious. Of course now I need to make that fig to add to the mixer before it packs up and drives away.

Can we just all let it go? The only reason a post was hidden is because of the comments about moderators at the end, not because of any speculation it might have contained. People sometimes take things too far whether it be a joke or whatever. It's really not that big of a deal. Look .. all those members who are upset about this notion of "over modding" either need to get over it or get done with it. It's been discussed at length and addressed multiple times even by the mysterious Ed Mack himself. If you have a problem with something, spit it out, get it taken care of, and move on. I personally think that the moderators as a group have tried to lighten up over the last 9 months.... We still try to enforce some basics like posting in the right thread(s), no buying or selling in the forums, using respectful language, censoring shady buying tactics, but in general much stupidness and sillyness and general funness has been had without mod intervention. If anyone has a problem with what I've said or needs to discuss further for ANY reason, please feel free to PM me or another mod or the Macks. I think we're all done here with this topic. ... the following I erroneously wrote as a reply in another topic (United States Capitol Building)... maybe someone will find it useful here. I think the designer did an extraordinary job on this set. Have a look at the proportions; a picture comparison I just made using Google maps: To achieve this likeness I'm sure a lot of thinking, testing and rebuilding had to be done. It's not perfect but no Lego set ever is; remember it's small and it's not a model kit. Dome looks good to me, as does the basin. To me the whole picture of Lego's United Nations is a lot more realistic than for example the 'Big Ben' whose clock faces look like they've had too much fish & chips, let alone the Pisa tower which doesn't come close to capturing the grandeur of the real thing. The United Nations set really does. Beside that, this set is amazingly fun to build, with lots of interesting techniques. Very satisfying. And it looks the part as well; all in all, I'm happy I've got a couple and I'm convinced this set will be sought-after item before too long. It's definitely one of my favorites in the architecture series, if not the top favorite.

I think if Ed Mack does it trek should also be able to do it. Mods don't have to like it just don't censor it. Let the audience decide if a code name catches or not. If somebody wants to give info and say it all on spanish or chinese let them. Those who care for that info will figure it out the rest can just ignore it and go with their day as normal.

Just purchased a 10195 (Dropship and AT-OT). In the top 5 of my "most wanted sets" list ever since i saw it (even if that was only 3 months ago). Purely buying for the personal collection but just had to tell someone Ohh and of course i shelled out for an extra 10 clones to fill that thing up.
