I sure hope this doesn't become a thing. These are probably the lamest few pages I've ever read on these forums.9 points

I respectfully disagree chipbee. The more supply there is of 'rare' sets, the lower we can all charge for our product. This is capitalism, and simple economics. If we are talking about investors buying off other investors, that's one thing. But in the long term, more investors means more competition to sell, and more competition to buy at a discount. I see it as meaning I'll pay more to purchase my product (since I have to compete with more people to buy it), and potentially sell it for less (because new investors have bought 20 tumblers).7 points

I propose that from now on we assign codenames to all sets worthy of retirement speculation, and use the official name in all other threads, but the codename only in this thread. To find the set behind the codename would require reading several pages of history, spread out over the entire threads length, to avoid easy peeks .... Sort of like a Dan Brown novel7 points

If you said that this pic is from remake of female version of 'the A-team', I'd believe you looks like the A-team just broke out of jail with those jumpsuits and stripes...and it probably was Mrs. T that chewed through the bars4 points

I think 21108 will be officially retired by the time the new set hits the market. Having two Ghostbusters Ecto-1's in production with the similar names is just going to create confusion4 points

My nine year old brought this one home from school the other day... Why did Adele cross the road? To say hello from the other side.4 points

Man, the sensitivity meter sure did escalate quickly. What I don't get, is why Trek feels the need to want to be all hush hush about stuff. And he mentioned it is the internet, so what exactly are you so worried about and so quick to take it personally? Look if the Sandcrawler is indeed on the way out, those that have an opportunity, or who have already gathered their required number, are going to fare very well. I have it built, and it's a beautiful set. One last thing, isn't this site about helping each other out and passing information along? I mean this is an investing site. And I understand the selfishness of some of you guys who don't like all the new investors, but that's just a reality of life. News is going to get out, and the hoard will do it's thing like it has the last couple of years.4 points

Yeah but Ed owns the site so he can do whatever he wants. I have to agree that this code name stuff was pretty lame. Not calling you out specifically but most people read this thread to get information not to play word games.4 points

Lets see how long you hold that opinion when 1-2 people in your area decide to be your direct competition, then 6, then 10. Singapore is not that big3 points

I certainly respect the work put into this, and it looks great for what it is, but i don't see it becoming a set. The adult collector in me says it needs to have some walls taken out to display properly, but then that sort of ruins the model. LEGO would really need to add play features to this to appeal to the younger audience, but then they already did Palpatine's Arrest which would look very similar and arguably have a more "play" oriented scene depicted. I can see the tag-line now: "Now you can host your own politics infused Jedi-Council meetings and decide the fate of the chosen one through intense deliberations!"3 points

That movie is hilarious. Of course now I need to make that fig to add to the mixer before it packs up and drives away.3 points

Thanks for the that. I did check before and there is one seller who's selling them and the price is almost what i paid for the set (I'd already looked into the instruction cost of these which is why i'd avoided a similar listing earlier in the week with no instructions). I mean their price is outrageous but when you're the only person in the US and Europe selling them you are the King! Will be as tactical as i can be. Given their "download a pdf" comment I'd assume they're going to write me off as one of these eBay fruitcakes . Not sure who arbitrates SNAD but it wouldn't surprise me if they just sent me an mp3 of Arnie from kindergarten cop saying "stop whining!"2 points

Good news. Can't see classic gb fans wanting that Ecto. Leslie Jones should have been a maxi fig like those old castle trolls.2 points

I love new investors. Without new investors the lego investment is over. And the more new investors earn, the more they will spread the gospel of lego investing that will further support the prices of retired sets. Hating new investors is like hating children. It is completely irrational and against the long term interest of the entire community.2 points

So it's getting towards valentines and I decided to put up last years valentines set a few days ago ( LEGO 40120: Seasonal Valentine's Day Dinner. ) Tabby nailed it, sold 7 in the last 2 days on Amazon for £29.99 each. Glad I bought about 20 of them.2 points

Just for the record, nobody is saying you can't play codename games if that's what entertains you. I was just giving my opinion on the subject.2 points

Tread carefully with this set. Great price for personal use. Investment wise I'd consider spending elsewhere. I bought six two years ago at this same price point and they are a tough sell. I've had mine listed at $50 on eBay, bricklink, and brick classifieds and they do not move, even at $20 below retail. I'm not sure what Shopko charges for shipping, but if your looking for this set consider buying from my Brick Classifieds store. It may be cheaper than Shopko, depending on what they charge for shipping, if anything. The link is below. I've got one listed at $49.99, plus $13 shipping. I've got five, but only one listed. If you want more than one PM me and I'll set up a deal with you. I wish I never bought these damn things. Edit...I didn't realize there was an online code at the moment. Shopko would probably be cheaper.2 points
