  2. Brick Bounty at $70 Two Demolition Sites at $50 Small truckload of Fire Trucks at $13 Stack of Ghosts at $60 and assorted one-off midline sets. (Oh and a Blue Power Jet for $30 and some Beach Huts for $15 and a couple of Treehouses at $21 because I'm a sucker for a 3-in-1.)

  3. Just out of curiosity, what do you perceive to provide a better opportunity cost? The $200 that you aren't going to spend on another Tumbler would instead provide a higher return in, say, December 2016, on ... a .... what ... exactly? Another Pet Shop? Doubt it. Red Five? Maybe... but doubt it. Anything with a minifigure named Bart or Homer? Seriously doubt it. T1 or Mini-Coopers? Definitely doubt it. Tower Bridge? Opera House? TFA? Jurassic World? 6 x Birds at $35 a piece? Actually that's a maybe.... If you could find a pair of ISDs or ATATs for $100 a piece, today, then I would concede that one. But I don't think you can. So what is the opportunity you're losing out on by tying up another $200 in a Tumbler?

  4. I haven't been able to hunt much, since we did the Christmas thing with the in-laws and family on 12/26. I did pick up a few things locally, but it was slim pickens. I'm going to avoid planning anything for 12/26 if I can from now on. We also had a two-day trip planned for Great Wolf Lodge and left yesterday. I made stops at 3 Wal-Marts and was able to get the following, but the one Target we stopped at didn't have much of interest, so I left with one First Order Tie poly. Star Destroyer - $99 Shuttle Tyderium - $74 Halo Pelican - $69 Halo Wraith - $15 Minecraft: The Mine - $69 Juniors: Defend the Batcave - $21 AT-DP - $20 (damaged box from Sam's Club nearby) AV-7 Cannon - $30 Utility Shuttle - $19 Police Dog Unit - $17 Morro Dragon - $49 Ronin R.E.X - $35 Master Wu Dragon - $30

  5. No shortage at this Target, and they have more on an end cap. Only if I would have brought my sorting basket. I could have knocked these out in 10 minutes.

  6. I was actually thinking of Game of Thrones by the end of it, how they set up a cliffhanger and reason to come back with the way it ended. Which of course all started with Empire Strikes Back. I can nitpick all of the Star Wars films (with love) for various reasons but the issue I and I think most people have with the new one is a more fundamental problem and that is that we were fed a recycled version (basically a remake) of a movie we'd already seen. No surprise I suppose given that it was JJ (MIssion impossible and Star Trek Into Darkness) Abrams doing it. I did not wait 30+ years from Return of the Jedi for the next chapter only to be fed a story I'd already seen but with various plot points jumbled around and passed off as new, as technically beautiful as this new film was. Empire was not the same story as New Hope, and neither was Return of the Jedi despite the otherwise common element of the second Death Star. They were all very different stories, as were the prequels, but united around certain age old themes. A Death Star is not a theme. It reminds me of the South Park episode where the military approaches Hollywood directors for ideas about how to defeat aliens and Michael Bay keeps saying "explosions" until the general dismisses him saying "Explosions aren't ideas, they're just special effects". I enjoyed the prequels quite a bit and find this latest movie too small in scale and too derivative. At least with the prequels Lucas attempted to enlarge the story and show us a different point of view of the Star Wars galaxy. I didn't get that here, and that's particularly disappointing since I was really enjoying the movie due to the charisma of the new characters and the more original plot points right up until a certain planet appeared. At that moment I knew exactly what was going to happen from then on and the goodwill of the first half of the movie evaporated. I now understand why the prequels are so widely disliked. It's not because of Jar Jar, or midichlorians, or Hayden Christenssen. It's because they weren't exactly copies of the originals judging by the overdone praise many people are heaping on this recycled story as "fresh" and "original". They had better have something new up their sleeve for Episode VIII, because even the most awestruck fan of this story can only have it retold so many times before losing interest. And if their "original" idea is for Luke to say "I am your father" then I will laugh out loud in the theatre.

  7. Built 31050 Corner Deli: for a $40 set I could not be happier, there are some really interesting building techniques and the color scheme really pops - similar to the Detective's Office. Highlights for me are the windows frame details, the skylight building technique, and the way the "corner" is modular and can easily be removed to make the building have a front and back as a stand alone building.

  9. Recent Architecture builds: Villa Savoye - it's VERY small but aesthetically pleasing. Robie House - I was missing about 90 pieces from my ebay order but the seller was really helpful and the last pieces arrived yesterday. This is a fabulous piece with some really nice techniques and looks a lot better than the other large sets (I haven't built my Imperial Hotel so I can't compare it to that yet) but I have seen enough 1x1 and 1x2 plates for now. The designer crammed a lot of detail into this set and it is surprisingly large. Next I will crack open my sealed Imperial Shuttle on Thursday or Friday (I do have a trade post for it if anyone is interested)

  10. My kids have been bugging me to go the the Great Wolf Lodge for a while now, most of their friends have been, it sounds pretty cool. We'll probably try and go later this year. Picked up 6 arctic bases and 100 red carpet poly bags from Target yesterday. (Using some of the polys as party favors and donating the rest to my kids elementary school)

  15. They are not retiring the Exto 1, Look at the Product info on the Ghostbusters HQ and it says the 21108 Ecto 1 will fit in the House, so if the Ecto 1 is retired, what is Lego going to tell the thousands of people who call and complain, If you want the Ecto 1 get it on Ebay or Amazon for $100 or so. Not saying down the road Lego comes out with a new one, and changes the info on the HQ. My Lego store in MD got in cases of them. Ed

  16. I think people are so used to watching quality TV shows like GoT, Breaking Bad, etc. So when a perfectly acceptable reboot (of some sort) of a beloved franchise comes along it gets nitpicked to death. Even when the bar was set at "Attack of the Clones" (!!) level.

  23. Oh goodness no, to the stock market. Simple fact that one will not loose money on a tumbler, good luck with that in the stock market. It amazes me how deep these threads go on the unending debate for every set, with all the same questions and answers. Tumbler will do fine, it will beat almost all other alternative asset classes on a year over year basis. That does not mean 50-100% return in 12 months.

  26. And what about the Indiana Jones saga? I mean, you can´t blame a 2 trick pony from wringing every last cent from their successful franchises - Vin Diesel would be jealous at having two to choose from! Indiana Jones saga? They haven't made another Indiana Jones movie since 1989.

  28. I am hoping to have a huge update by the end of the week. It's been nuts for the past 30+ days trying to get answers, updates and fixes for the data I am seeing. Maybe after it goes live I will explain all the differences. I am "supposed" to get an update later today with a chance to get more data to work with and see if its right. I am hoping it is, then I can work on it over the next few days and get the everything back in action again.

  31. Fantastic find!!! I understand the superhero buying binge. I did that when I first came out of my dark ages(just a couple months ago). In one day I spent well over $100, which came as a total shock to me because I didn't even realize until that moment how much I like superheroes.

  36. So I saw watched the movie last night for the third time, and enjoyed it. And then I read this article. Ouch. Now I can't stop thinking about some of those things. Still love the movie, but, he brings up some good points.

  40. Wasn't George Clooney the worst Batman? Stay away from The Tumbler! High retail price, never was on sale, semi-limited availability, retiring soon tag, crappy trilogy (Bay > Nolan), 7888 rip-off, exclusive minifigs, etc. I'd prefer 10544 over this set. =p

  41. Hey Ed! --- This raffle is wonderful and will perform miracles---- with the help of social media ! St. Paul School is truly a blessing and a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. I have 4 children, ages 21, 18, 13 and 9. My 2 oldest have graduated from St. Paul School and my third child is currently in the 8th grade and set to graduate this year--in fact she is in the video that is posted on your blog!! My youngest is in 3rd grade and my husband is an alumni as well. We have strong roots in this school lol! I have seen many changes at St. Paul School ......as well as in the world since my oldest daughter's first day there. St. Paul offers safety and top notch education. The teachers here really care about how the students are doing academically as well as emotionally. These days that is so important to kids.....especially in middle school. Though they may have BiG attitudes, they are still children inside. Every day the kids, the parents, the teachers , the administration.... all have a chance to interact together. And more importantly .... all are welcome to do that. Not every school can say that. It takes a village to raise a child .... there is no better "village" than St. Paul School! My older girls have gone on to graduate from Notre Dame High School (Catholic High School) in Lawrenceville and both excelled in honors and AP classes. My oldest was inducted in the National Honor Society at the Collegiate level and currently has a degree in Biology. My second daughter is currently a freshman at Rowan University and majoring in Chemical Engineering. She has received an academic scholarship. My 8th grader is in the National Junior Honor Society and has participated and placed in many math and academic competitions. She will take the SAT and the ACT in the spring as a "warm-up" before high school. My youngest is in 3rd grade but can write in cursive (have a signature!), read at a much higher level and is halfway learning division. All of this has been provided through the foundation that they received at St. Paul School--- ST. PAUL STRONG!!

  43. And not just shot - shot by the freaking Bow Caster. We saw what sort of damage it did a few other times. Ren isn't a "fully formed" villain, from the perspective that he isn't a full-fledged villain yet. When we see Darth Vader in ANH, he's had 15 years to become who he is. Ren is still learning. Even Snoke says that Ren still has training to complete. My point is that Ren isn't going to be a bad ass Jedi every single time we see him. He's going to be fallible. By that point in the movie, he's got quite a lot of things going on.

  44. Hi everyone I'm new to this site. I'm a little confused because I thought the 76023 The Tumbler was actually a Lego set with that actor from Brokeback Mountain in it. (No, the other one - the one with an Oscar and a last name that I can pronounce.) But reading this thread I have actually learned that "76023 The Tumbler" is actually some sort of internal code describing cardboard condition. I will continue looking though other topics to see where we can discuss the Batman set. Just kidding. I love a derail as much as anyone. Happy Holidays everyone. Now I'm going to go take pictures of all the crappy wrapping jobs I've done on my wife's Christmas presents and post about them in the 10237 Tower of Orthanc thread.

  46. A remake of the original ISD is probably a ways out as we'll likely see a TFA ISD first, so if you want some this is probably the best price you'll find them at before they disappear! After seeing TFA on friday; i went back to CT and picked up one of each of TFA sets for myself at %30 off (minus MF and Kylo shuttle as i'm not sure CT even carried them). Because after seeing the movie i had to have em :3 movie made me feel like a kid again.
