Here's our Christmas village for this year - see if you can spot the sets between the MOCs Background decoration courtesy of my 9yr old son, bunch of MOC elements courtesy of my 9yr old daughter .... We have the winter village on a table, and a train and a "north pole" under the tree. More images in my Flickr gallery.16 points

Not strictly Lego, but finally got the keys to my new Lego storage facility, or as the wife likes to call it, our new house. Finally can move everything out of my office, been getting funny looks at the lack of floor space in it.9 points

I like that! Can I borrow that? I did the "Shopko Stack" 27 times and picked up 54 Rey's Speeders at 49% off. Neat little set. One of a kind vehicle used by a major character that most likely won't be included in any other sets in the foreseeable future, and Rey's headpiece is unique to this set (for now). Seeing as I have these stacked up on my poker table, I guess I am "all in" on this little guy. At 49% off I'm willing to take that gamble. I'll list them locally at retail to move a few here and there. The rest will take awhile to sell but I'm ok with that. Once gone I don't see why this set wouldn't sell for $25-$30 each. There are only 53 pictured because I sold one to the Pastor at my church for cost. He is a huge Star Wars and Lego fan, so I'm always hooking him up when I find good deals.7 points

Someone came over to get an AT-AT 75054 for $155, I tried to talk them into adding a Star Destroyer 75055 for a total of $325, but they decided to instead just buy the Star Destroyer for $175. Guess I have to go buy another one for $115. Yesterday morning I sold an AT-AT 75054 and Snowspeeder 75049 for $200. I really wanted the lady today to take a Snowspeeder since I have like 12.6 points

On Amazon you will have way more returns and customers being very nit picky about things. People are used to being able return anything they want on Amazon for any reason so when they buy from third party sellers the same applies. If you are selling items that go in and out of stock from Amazon proper then you will have more returns also. For example, you might sell IR for $200+ and then it will pop back in stock from Amazon and if that buyer sees that it came back in stock they will immediately start a return. You can make more money selling on Amazon despite the higher fees for certain items. For other items ebay is better. When you sell on both it complicates things because not only do you have to do a price/demand comparison, you also have to be careful tracking your inventory so that you don't oversell on one and then have to cancel orders. You also need to consider FBA vs. FBM with Amazon which is completely separate issue.4 points

We will start house shopping next year. Is it sad that one of my requirements is adequate LEGO storage?4 points

I've been wanting to build this set since it was released in June. I never really realized how much I enjoyed stuff from Return of the Jedi until I really looked at my LEGO collecting habits. This particular ship is a beautiful and elegant design in the films, but how does it look when translated in the most recent LEGO iteration? Well the box was pretty, so let's delve into the set. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 75094 Name: Imperial Shuttle Tydirium Theme: Star Wars Parts: 937 Price: $99.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At $99.99 the price per piece works out to a bit under $.11 each. This seems to be about average for pricing for a licensed set. There are 5 minifigures 4 of which are currently exclusive to this set. Chewbacca is available in this form in 2 other sets. Han, Leia and the 2 Rebel Troopers are exclusive. BOX CONTENTS Some people may wind up picking up a set that is open box or, want to verify the box contents before beginning a build. For this set, there are 6 numbered baggies, and a bag containing the instruction book and a sticker sheet. THE BUILD AND EXECUTION Bag 1: Here you build the basic foundation of the shuttle and the 2 Rebel Troopers. There's a box with 2 Thermal Detonators (although if you want 3, the extra pieces are there), a weapons rack, and a hatch in the floor. Bag 2: you're continuing to expand the structure of the shuttle's body. You also create the attachment points for the moveable wings. They ratchet up and down individually and you fairly successfully disguise the spring missile shooters. If you look in the second image below, you can see the Technic Pin Connector (62462) that is used as the trigger to fire the missile. Bag 3: The first thing I want to make note of is how cool and SNOT the engines of this ship are and how it's a whole panel that's attached to the back. I don't know why they went with the 2 2x4 tiles that will soon be hidden. The landing struts are linked and will move up and down in tandem. The hatch I mentioned before has a piece on a hinge that will prevent it from lowering on its own. You must flip this down in order the lower the ramp. The bag finishes adding some details to the body, including guns. Bag 4: The fin. The fin is awesome. Bow down to the fin. It is solid, it is large and in charge, and take it from me, make sure you attach everything in the right direction so that the pin holes line up, because getting it back apart to fix a minor mistake is a giant pain. The fin just slots right into the top before you pin it in place. Plus, you get Princess Leia and her cookie. Bag 5: This bag is the biggest one in the set because you are making the wings and finishing the body of the shuttle. You make some panels for the body that pivot up and down to reveal the interior of the shuttle. The wings weren't terribly complex, but they were time consuming due to size. Bag 6: Probably the smallest and most disappointing of the bags. I don't know if I was tired by this point, or if the cockpit design just wasn't that inspired, but compared to the rest, it wasn't a terribly exciting finish. The Han is nice, but Chewbacca's a little bit off. Maybe it's the dark brown, or the weird paint details. Maybe I was disenchanted with this portion, because the cockpit canopy cannot stay open. It's too heavy and closes on its own. There were some extra pieces, including a cookie and a Thermal Detonator. I did not take a picture of the brick separator, but rest assured there is one. REACTION I really like this set, a lot. With the wings down, it is a beautiful thing. With the wings up, the bloom sort of comes off the rose. You see the underside of the wings when it is in the parked or resting position. The underside of the wings are ugly, kind of like an inside out sausage. Ok, maybe not that bad, but the most attractive way to display it will take a lof of clear bricks that are not included to make it display prettily. I really do like this set a lot. Despite the wing undersides and the closing canopy, it's a really nice set. The figures, for the most part, are nice. I really wish there was an extra helmet for Leia. I also wish there was a Luke with poncho to go with it too. I'm going to proudly display this set on its own until I build my Ewok village, then it will go with that. This set goes well with Endor scenes, but it would also look great with a bunch of Imperials for an arrival scene. If I could swing the space, and got a good enough discount, I'd have 2 on display. FINAL THOUGHTS This set has the misfortune/fortune of being released 3 months before Force Friday. With the advent of all the Force Awakens sets, this one got relegated to a secondhand status. Fans and parents were more likely to go for TFA sets for the months leading into Christmas. LEGO most likely curtailed production in favor of the newer sets. This is all good news for the future of this set. Original Trilogy sets are always popular. Well designed ones moreso. If the newer movie sets take precedence in production, this set will have greater scarcity that collectors might not notice until after EOL. I think this set will be strong later on. A week before Christmas, Amazon has sold out. If you need something to convince you, check out these beauty shots. Go buy it on Amazon View full blog article3 points

It sounds like you weren't around for May the Fourth two years ago...the horde was in full form with this set that day... edit: It's definitely unlikely to be made as a UCS ship unless it's featured in a future movie.3 points

The Tumbler is no AA. The "Retiring Soon" moniker is a marketing tool to clear out sets out of LEGO's warehouses. The reasons for that could be many, such as slow seller, license ran out, new movie and/or products to push., expensive and costly manufacturing costs, etc....3 points

I will ship them with tender, loving care. I will also throw in some autographed copies of the new book as well. I'll will even have my son sign them. That signature could be worth thousands one day. With the name Maximillian Maciorowski, he has to be famous...or infamous.3 points

Built the Temple of Airjitsu and Sensei Wu's Dragon. First, ToA is an incredible set. I can't believe it doesn't get more pub for the incredible display it is. It's truly a breathtaking set, and one that deserves a place among the best of the best. Sensei Wu's Dragon is also a great build. I have built almost all of the Ninjago Dragons, and this one is great. The brick built head really shines, and the minifigures are excellent. Plus, it comes with a husky - an added bonus for an already great set! Both are great sets and highly recommended.3 points

So I started on a mad frenzy of a superhero mini figure collection today. Buying all kinds on brick link and eBay. I was putting together a prototype of a display and going through mine and my dads boxes of LEGO for pieces I could use to sit the figures on, and I come across a large bag of something that immediately catches my eye. What seems to look like a whole bag of night wings from Arkham Asylum. As well as batman masks and joker heads. I nearly fell over. I ran upstairs to ask where did we get these??? My dad would never have anything fake. After asking, he tells me "Oh yeah, Lego sent me those as a favor for when I hosted Lego night at our local Danish Club". I actually remember that party and I don't remember him bringing these. They were in one of many lego boxes we have. My gut tells me, my Dad completely forgot he even had them and obviously did because when I showed him, he had no clue they were there. And they are 100% legit!! I have the black legs as well, still putting them all together. Just missing the spikey hair. 76 total Nightwings without hair. Another 119 Nightwing heads!! 5 Batman's 5 Joker's from older rare sets including the Comic Con exclusive box set. *********** Just purely looking at ebay and brick link sales. Heads go for around $10-12 a piece Torso's also around $12-14 a piece. Joker's are another $25ish each. Did I just find the mother load!!??? Gotta be close to or over $3,000 here even without the hair. and just today I was buying figures and saying I want the real Nightwing...the blue one that I know well but it was way to expensive and BOOM...I find these. I'm still in shock. PS - Don't know what the cats and dog are from yet. Any help there would be great.2 points

I love this set. I know there has always been a buzz about the tumbler, but anyone else think the slave I has a chance to do just as well long term? Great model, better/more figs than tumbler, star wars fever for the next several years...has a lot going for it. My plan is to load up next year on this as much as possible...2 points

And what? We want more boring scenes of people sitting around in a circle talking about trade federations and a galactic senate? You call it a weakness, I call it a strength. Abrams injected actual LIFE into the movie. This is why people are absolutely LOVING this movie. It's a blast. It's actually fun!2 points

Just doing some random googling and spotted the below - some of Jamie's fairground rides before he was employed by Lego; recognise anything? Can you spot the big (little) Ben! Looks like some some more fairground rides also coming along at some point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZmt2INoDRI&feature=youtu.be2 points

It has been extremely difficult for me to come by mint Tumbler boxes. Virtually 100% of ALL LEGO boxes from target are now being stickered with a 1x4" UPS code sticker when sent to me. This is tumblers or cinderella's bedroom stickers placed intentionally squarely in the middle of the front of the box. very annoying. maybe they don't want to ban me and are trying to get me to stop ordering. for tumblers i have been getting out the hair dryer but even some of these are damaged. Amazon goes overboard with packing material and then the box gets a dent. i have 1 on the way from LEGO Shop at Home with the complimentary christmas ornament shaped dent i'm sure.2 points

ebay seems to be the only place to get an AT-At anymore. There might be a Toyworld out in woop woop with one. That would be your only bet for one at retail. Don't worry about the Death Star. Personally, it has little appeal for me as it's too play set like and the minifigs look dated. In general, I stay away from really large sets (more than $300 a pop). They are riskier to sell and take up way too much space. Everyone has different strategies though, and I haven't seen how many listings there are for that one on ebay.com.au2 points

I'm one of the 21% who do not have any 10188. And I'm not kicking myself. It's a deliberate choice fitting within my own investment strategy. With limited resources (money, storage space) you have to make choices what to invest in and what not. This set fell outside of my chosen boundaries. Even if it's double RRP in 2 years, I won't feel bad. (I do feel bad about not having bought more Birds sets though. )2 points

Obviously this was the usual stephen_rockefeller 'counterfeits are awesome!' sarcasm (@mods: maybe one of you could explain to me why any mention of counterfeiting by a 'regular' member outside of its dedicated thread gets instantly moved or deleted, but no mod seems to have a problem with stephen_rockefeller's off-topic sarcasm). However, counterfeiting is absolutely holding back appreciation of virtually every Super Heroes set. If it doesn't bother you that Super Heroes sets essentially never retire due to the unending stream of counterfeit exact copies widely available all over the internet, then by all means, load up on them. It's your money. Regarding Tumbler specifically, as Ed Mack and others have pointed out in the past, the 'retiring soon' tag is used by Lego to accelerate sales of sets that aren't moving as fast as they would like. It is not a good sign. The poor performance of Arkham Asylum is likewise not a good sign.2 points

I can sympathize with your dilemma: I had the same thing happen years ago thru my work selling vinyl records on eBay. The buyer and I agreed that I would refund the buyer the amount minus what I originally paid for the item. In the end we both were out something but felt like the right thing to do at the time and having just started the ebay store for my work I was very concerned about maintaining 100% feedback. She ended up purchasing something from me again several months later and then became a regular customer of mine so things worked out well for both of us in the long run. Each case is different of course - in this case it was a $35 record, had it been more expensive I am not sure what I would have done.2 points

Not sure what thread to post this in....mild spoiler below. My theory is that Rey's memories and Jedi skills are suppressed. This is most likely from a traumatic event in her childhood. She had some Jedi training at some point; she is too skilled to be new to the force. Ren awakens it and she immediately regains the power she once had. There is a connection between the two and that moment of interrogation brought it all back to the surface. It remains to be seen what that connection is. I can't wait to watch it again.2 points

I think that is part of the overall mystery that will be revealed later. Who she is and what her history is .... why is she so powerful with the force, and has she had training before ... before she was abandoned by her parents .... was she a force sensitive child that was hidden? There were 2 story lines in the Clone Wars and in Rebels that talks about the empire going after force sensitive younglings.2 points
