Picked this up today. A close look at the minifigures (I apologized for the lack of any photography equipment other than white paper and an iPhone). A printed piece!5 points

You're looking at essentially 40% off. For what's bound to be a popular set for a while, that's a solid buy. Sure, someone will post later on that they combined their TRU rewards certificate, with their TRUTH discount, got some extra discount on credit card cash back program, and paid for it all with discounted gift card and paid $17 out the door, but 40% is getting harder to come by consistently these days.5 points

Seriously? I don't think that was it at all. I think it was a way to earn a few laughs and show that some people take movies way too seriously. You all need to lighten up.4 points

Jumping on the SW love bandwagon after seeing it this afternoon. I am huge OT fan and saw the original film in 1977 when i was 8. TFA is fantastic. A great story told with precisely the right amount of detail and not a drop more. Perfectly edited. I did not expect the emotional response at seeing those yellow letters scrolling up the screen like my life going by but it was so justified. One of the most satisfying motion picture experiences of my life. I was one of those weirdo's giving it a standing ovation at the end. Going to see it again in 2 days.3 points

Yep. Which is why I still think Birds 21301 is the sleeper set from 2015 and potentially the best CAGR performer of the years new releases. Meets each one of these requirements very well. Now, back to your regularly scheduled advice...3 points

We are just a little "pumped" for the movie. 5 more mins until the movie previews begin. Yeah, eating popcorn with the mask is kinda hard. The Lego Star Wars commercial just played and it was awesome.3 points

Didn't see a thread dedicated to this set which I think is a sleeper other than its super long availability. maybe one that's off the radar sort of like the ubiquitous Empire State Building that is turning to be a decent investment. From a seller point , the SSN is super light and cheap to ship. Just went to SOLD OUT at shop at home USA in the last 24 hours. still in stock at TRU for shipping for $1.00 (5%) over MSRP. Going to clear out the local bn stock this week.2 points

http://nh.craigslist.org/tag/5327966266.html Picking this lot up tomorrow. The Hobbit UG is already gone. I know, I have a problem. A few of these are on my "sweet!" list! Yhe lady says "this is the last lot!" She's the one who finds the good ones mostly.2 points

4 FBA sellers front running amazon on this set. Don't see that too often. Race to the bottom on most items this year. Time to shift gears yet again.2 points

I have no idea about the sale since I haven't seen a Kmart in years. But I would recommend maybe a clothes pin for your nose, as a gas mask may be too alarming in the world we now live in...2 points

Video was great. Watched it a few times.. It's just LEGO, like mentioned it can be rebuilt. There is a lot more in the world to worry about than this. Sure I wouldn't want to drop mine either, but it was for entertainment value. It was a great skit and it is real on how people really talk to these guys as if they are the authority on it. Harrison Ford could probably care less about a lot of this stuff. It was just a role he played. In many interviews I watched, he is patient and tries his best to make people happy but from his perspective, he sat in a fake set, pretended to fly something that did nothing in a completely fake world. We are the ones that make it real and live on. Still one of my favorite actors of all time just because he is always cool about things.2 points

I just got the chance to watch this for the first time, with sound up (I watched it in line on Thursday, but no sound). That was hilarious. Harrison used to get criticized for being reclusive, or being a jerk. I think he finally figured out how to play the "character" of Harrison Ford (much like Shatner, Adam West, and Wil Wheaton). I love this stuff with him.2 points
-
I look at it as another 10179 bites the dust. It was a skit. Harrison Ford literally threw it over his head. The important thing is that someone had enough knowledge of the 10179 to use it in the skit. It is becoming "legendary ."2 points

just pictures of those VERY bent thick parts. No box photos as he knows there is no chance of a Return due to being on an island or S.America likely. Instead they want cash back. They never noted they used a reshipper, I know they are omitting this on purpose and feel its slightly dishonest judging by all their purchase history on Ebay. I worked in molding, plastics machinery etc... and to bend the plastic on a reinforced LEGO part that thick is easily a hundred pounds of force. Im venturing it was run over by a truck. I came across this thread in searching: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Archive-Selling/Buyer-trying-to-scam-me/td-p/22800149/highlight/true I feel for them, but In the end, the buyer can buy international and pay full international shipping with insurance from an Ebay seller who does that, if they opt for a CONUS shipping and no chance of insurance they accept the risk of cheaper stuff but no recourse. The buyer knows the risk and game theyre playing with a courier/reshipper. I lived in Bulgaria a while, and have been deployed to remote a@@ whateverISTAN bases and Ive seen boxes smashed to bits upon arrival or stuff obviously stolen. such is the game when a box leaves the Shire.2 points

Because I bought 3 sets of tickets back when they first went on sale. And I wanted to give it a fair shake. It almost seems like Episode IV reimagined. I saw Episode IV 10 times in the theater in 1977-78, and countless times on VHS/DVD/Bluray since, so that could be why this does not feel new. If I had never seen the previous films, I would say this was a good film, but I just can't get past the zillion similarities to a movie I saw almost 40 years ago. It's as if Disney went back to square one on this one, and used Ep IV as the formula. I wonder how bad the original plot they rejected was (if they did). Everyone will relate and dissect this in their own way and that is cool. I think there were great nods to the original but it is far from a copy or rehash.2 points

Interesting that someone thinks they are gonna double their money short term after shipping and fees.........shoot for the stars I guess.2 points

I mentioned this a few pages back on the Buy Today thread, but I picked up a damaged box tumbler from the lego store, reason for damage was seals popped, plus a tiny edge crush. I asked about it when I picked it up and they said there was a bad batch of glue for this set somewhere along the line, and tons of seals pop early on them. I think we're all experiencing this issue.2 points

Second viewing and I'm still in love with it. Great film. One of the best for me, and I was there in 1977. Need to plan viewing number 3 sometime next week.2 points

The video is bullshit, disrespectful to fans (even if it was fake). Trowing the Pen "after the guy" was just sad. A way of showing how pathetic he thinks fans are... Harrison Ford lost a bit of respect (me atleast) here. Whats up with his little shiny earring btw?2 points

I will say this After watching Episode VII in all its glory if I was Lego, Disney and Lucas Arts and I was trying to attract the millions of people who are new young and vibrant I in absolutely no way would after watching the movie go back and do UCS set of the original Death Star No way at all I am not saying OT UCS sets are done I do not mean that at all There is so much life talent and vibrancy in things in the new movie that can be UCS They could capture so many more fans of all ages with a UCS Star Killer Seeing the movie actually had me consider something (no I do not feel this way but it crossed my mind) wow the Death Star is old news, this Star Killer and everything else is new fresh high tech and cool For this reason I think those that have stocked up on the old Death Star will do great over the next few years whether it is replaced some day or not by a better version. the old death star may not spike initially if the star killer releases and people buy it first (I would if I was a kid asking my parents and I was new to star wars now) but I think this sets up the 10188 for an excellent appreciation over several years the death star is dead long live the death star2 points

I saw a large bin of new C-3POs 5002948 at my Toys R Us... figured I'd go there this morning for the TRUST discount and pick up 100 or so. I was hoping I could flip them as a single lot for $575 - $600, make a quick $110 profit, and gain $30 in Rewards. So I got there bright and early, counted them out one-by-one in my basket... and then I saw the price... $5.99 !? Weren't they $3.99 before? Rats.1 point

Our pastor, yes, our pastor whispered something under his breath about doing this as we were walking out last night. We uniformly said, "NOOOOOOOO!"1 point

Yes, YMMV, maybe until tomorrow. All Star Wars sets are marked BOGO 50% off in their system, but you need an override, since all sets ring up full KMart price. The more experienced employees recognize it immediately.1 point

Honestly, Target made my holiday season extremely pleasant. Whenever I got low on packaging material a refrigerator box would of air packets and paper would show up.1 point

that's awesome Jais hope you all love it I know we did still on a cloud 9 high from it as far as ships go the new SD is pretty awesome adding more detail to me, kylo's shuttle makes me want to own the lego one even though not as good and I even like the troop transporter u boat now. the movie made me like all the sets.1 point

All I do is count the money I make. I don't care what MSRP was. My buy-in is much more important in my investment decisions.1 point

Your son will inherit enough bricks from you to build a 1.1 scale Death Star, so certainly not him - unless compulsive Lego purchasing is hereditary, in which case ching ching!1 point

There just aren't enough available to ever get it to GE levels. LEGO is not going to restart production of this set once it is listed as "Retiring Soon." The GE sold heavily for 4.5 years and The Tumbler will be sold for a little over one year at restricted levels. The GE was discounted many times. The Tumbler was never discounted. People have blown this set off thinking it would be around for another year or so. They are still blowing it off. It's so far from the top, it won't really matter.1 point

If you could repeat that cycle every 2 minutes for an entire day, assuming $60 profit per set, you'd make $43,200 today. You could probably take tomorrow off then, but why?1 point

That's a tough call. I'd say no because I'd be too tempted to open it up fresh and build it. I myself settled for a built twice really nice 1st edition for $2500.1 point
