The good old deutschmark I guess you guys have silver dollars in the states
  4. They also need vision checked and reading comprehension tested, since boxes usually clearly state to not open with sharp objects
  5. I'm taking my son on Dec 18 in the early afternoon. No IMAX for us this time around. He's pumped to see more of Kylo Ren. I'm pumped to just get passed the 3 prequel films. best of all, I get to watch a new Star Wars film with my boy.

Come on, you guys couldn't have expected this one to take off like it did without people noticing. The higher that price is going the more sellers you have entering the market, many of which probably weren't planning on selling this soon. The body isn't even cold yet. Give the AT-AT some time and it will be just fine.
  7. I'll probably be on my 4th viewing by 12/23.
  8. Mine have come in all varied conditions, none pancaked. I've had at least 2 where the box cutter sliced them open on the bottom when they opened the case. Anyone who works with product should be required to go to box cutter training.
  9. Picked up some more of these today. 16R5 all nice and minty.

    "What do you mean you've seen this. It's brand new". "Erm... yeah it's a re-run, it's a re-run".

Having some fun hunting for the AT-AT this weekend
  12. I'm definitely not going to complain about it.. This creates a good opportunity, and judging from the upcoming list that is on brickset, it looks like next year they are producing another large batch of sets, so I see no slowdown in the amount of sets they are producing. This could mean more sets will be retired less than a year into their cycle as they continue with their rotating door philosophy, which emerged about a year and a half ago. I personally see it as a benefit, because not many resellers can buy across so many different themes, which helps spread around the amount of items that would hit the retirement reseller market.
  13. Cleared out some space to load up on some other items. I'm getting rid of some dead weight through FBA (not listed), but here are some of the better items I've sold on Amazon recently: Empire State Building - $42.99 (clearance buy in January for ~$12 each) Creative Suitcase - $85.99 ($35 on Shop at Home last year) Homing Spider-Droid - $44.99 (clearance buy in January) Umbaran MHC - $58.99 (clearance buy for ~$16) AT-RT - $44.99 Mirkwood Elf Army - $45.99 ($11 buy-in last Spring) Uruk-hai Army - $74.99 Castle Gatehouse Raid - $46.99 ($16 buy-in from May 2014) TMNT Lair Attack - $90.99 Baxter Robot Rampage - $54.95
  15. My son built this set the other day, and I do think it's a stunning and charming little set. I find most of the winter village sets redundant and somewhat average, but this one sticks out. Unfortunately, I think having 400 resellers bunched up like that for a set that is pretty much only garner people's attention one month out of the year is a an extremely high number and I think it will take a few years to purge those numbers to a respectable level where prices could be respectable. To me, just making 2x on a set can be done with so many other sets, that it's almost pointless to fight the tide on something like this. Also there is a chance Santa themed sets will be remade many times in the future. So, that could hit the value of this one too. So, the view of hoarding this one doesn't look good in the next year, and could be a big risk long term. I really like this set, but there's a point where you have to step back and look at the numbers.
  16. my guess is more the other way around. i cant imagine they expected a huge run on the temple, but wanted to move out smaller sets. though im sure its not selling as well as they would like.

anytime you see 1 post, you can be sure there are 20 additional bp'ers who only read the daily deals thread, never post and are doing exactly the same thing. anytime you think you are the only one onto something, there's 8 people thinking the same thought as you right now. AT-AT and ISD are classic medium term holds. the franchise reboot will bring new fans into the fold and re-awaken the child in many adults, iconic ships will be very easy to unload for decent profit with a 1-2 year hold. this has nothing to do with hoarding or greed. how can you build up stock of something to sell in a year or two without buying it?? the goal is to buy something as close to EOL as possible. We are at EOL for AT-AT. It is time to buy it if you want to sell it. I don't see how this is any different from all the other times stuff goes EOL.

A swiss site has an un-boxing and 5 minute speed build of the new firehouse headquarters. It looks pretty darn cool! http://www.promobricks.de/lego-ghostbusters-feuerwehr-hauptquartier-75827-erstes-review-und-speed-build-video-erschienen/10877

    Jack Stone sets?
  20. Or they have released so many sets that producing all of them concurrently is disrupting their logistics. I think it is more of a realization that they overdid the number of releases than a change in practice. They bumped into their own capacity constraints and have to trim some of them out of necessity.
  21. I started buying Snowplow #60083 today. If it's really going, I won't be able to get as many as I had liked at the price I wanted, but some are better than none.
  22. Imperial Star Destroyer is now sold out at amazon. It's also sold out online at Lego S&H, target, walmart, and TRU. Let the fun begin.
  23. Also you don't earn eBay bucks on shipping costs. I know that's usually only 2% but if I'm working with a 5x eBay bucks promo and buying a $300 item, I'd much rather get 10% "back" off the full $300 (when it's listed as free shipping) as opposed to 10% back off $280 and then pay $20 more for shipping. Yes it's only $2 difference but it makes a difference psychologically.
  24. We're pretty lucky, we have a pretty cheap theater. It's subsidized by our local university. 4 tickets for 3D, 2 Large Popcorns, 2 Large drinks, & cotton candy for $40.
  25. Don't feel bad. I only sold two and I've had them listed since April. I sold my first one in like, July I think. It has taken some time, that's for sure. CL is slow going but I'd rather list there rather than ebay and have to pay fees and shipping.
  26. I sold some on EBay. This price doesn't surprise me.

As this set is unpopular in non-American markets I would not be surprised if they retired it in those countries, and then boost up the buying limit in the United States as it is popular here.
  28. Off topic but i finally finished building my copy of 7784. Absolutely amazing model! In a couple of years time its going to be the late 20/early 30 y/o who grew up with the Dark Knight as their batman. They're going to be the new AFOLS with the ca$h to burn. The tumbler is one of those sets that has the wow factor that will attract people who have no interest in Lego but want THAT model just to display (IMO). Maybe I'm a little too high on this set.... but it is awesome (and failing it doing well has some pretty decent parts for Moc'ers)

Oh and I just bought a used 10030(finally) on Ebay. He accepted my $900 offer. No box though. Instructions are in great condition. Seller has good feedback selling a bunch of UCS sets so I'm stoked. Earned me $54 in EBucks too

Sold all of my deloreans on Amazon for 144 each. Had 6. Definitely the best appreciation on a set of my brick folio, so that's why it had to go. Like everyone else- wish I had bought more, but hindsight is always 20/20. Only caveat is the stupid high shipping prices on Amazon. Why can't they give a discount like eBay does?

That is why I never understood this mentallity of buying so many. One word...... Greed
  32. Depends on your end-goal really, that's a great lot with allot of sought after classic bits... it's very likely you'd do just as well or better selling this one as a lot rather than taking the time to sort by sets (that's not very often the case mind you) but in this case the classic sets themselves are not so much in demand anymore as sets - it's the builders & moc'ers that would be after this collection much more so than set collectors. (imo), condition looks pretty good (from the photos), lots of figs/foliage/rock, castle/pirates/space definitely a premium bulk lot that should do well without any significant effort on your part. Here I'd start listing that lot in (Canadian) at 8$ lb (brick elements) + $3 per fig + $1 per animal. I'd expect the final value somewhere in the 10-12$ lb range. best of luck.

I didn't list the dead weight I'm getting rid of. These were the winners for sure. I also sold the following FBM: Winter Village Cottage x2 - $229 + shipping credit Architecture Fallingwater x4 - $200 + shipping credit Gingerbread House x4 - $66.50 + shipping credit

Be aware, most likely, "the guy" is selling an altered version. The green car roof (Green Wedge 6 x 4 x 2/3 Quad Curved) has never been made available in another set. I'm "the guy" that sells exact replicas, but I only do that if I can get the parts. And since that piece isn't available, we haven't produced any of these.
  35. There's still a chance. Amazon may be out of stock, unless I'm missing something. How many other retailers have it? On the flip side, WALL-E is in-stock.

  37. Let me check....mmmmm...nope. Just Friends sets in there. My tumblers are too big to cram in there, and I don't want to damage the boxes.
  38. Are you sure? I think Terry has 20 of them in the back of his Buick.

batman is batman maybe the most known superhero in the world. anyway, the tumbler is the batmobile in the last 3 batman movies, named the tumbler, but it is a batmobile.... and was in the 3 movies, in a form or an other. so yeah pretty cool batmobile, the coolest we've seen by far for a batmobile... in my opinion , well see the new one in action soon
  40. Bricklink. Although there are plenty for sale in the UK or Europe, there are currently (2) available for sale from U.S. Based BL stores. I sold mine in lots of three at $40 per group. If I would have noticed the supply dwindling, I might have have adjusted up a bit.
  41. I am ok with the 26 GH I have now + 2 more coming shortly.
  42. Ok, the data I have since 2007 is as follows: Format: Year/New Exclusives / Retirements 2007/ 5 / no data 2008/ 7 / no data 2009/ 6 / 6 2010/ 7 / 6 2011/ 7 / 5 2012 / 8 / 7 2013/ 9/ 3 2014/ 8/ 11 2015/ 9/ 3 confirmed + Red 5. DS, SW, PS, Tumbler??? This is based on EU set launch and retirement dates. I have the full list of launched and retired sets but it is too much work to type up - bbrickset is your friend for that kind of thing. As we can see, 2013 and 2014 stand out for the few and many retirements but the overall average prior to 2015 is 7 launches and 6 retirements per year (hello Mr Death Star, T1 and Tower Bridge!)
  43. I´ve got it all written down on a scrap of paper - give me a sec and I´ll post the summary.
  44. I keep forgetting to list S3. Gotta remember to do that tonight.
