This has been mentioned before, but it's hard to see a Hoth set setting aside the pieces for an AT-AT. I think a Snowspeeder and/or AT-ST would be more likely. If it comes with a Hoth Shield Generator, that would only help the AT-AT's returns. Maximum Firepower, baby!

From what I have observed over the past few years prices drop around this time as more sellers enter the market. Ebay traffic has continued its steady decline as purchasing habits evolve in the USA and ebay's continued problems with google search and lack of effective marketing and innovation are certainly not helping things. I don;t think GBHQ has a anything to do with the price action you are observing.

Yes if anyone was curious... Amazon is where the stupid money is. (as I like to tell people) For what ever reason people will pay a premium to shop on Amazon than deal with eBay. GBH is a (sorry) example.

Getting close to free LEGO sets from Shop at Home if your order was right around $100.

About the only thing I like about that set is Quicksilver. Can get Hulk in the better Hulkbuster set and then get Scarlet Witch as well. I don't have any of the new Avengers sets yet, but I'm leaning away from buying any for the long haul as I've been burned by re-issues of figures too much in that theme.

Maybe next Christmas there will be some new super-cutesy Holiday set for everyone to drool over. Right now buyers are motivated by the hype and the panic, thinking it's going to get even more expensive if they don't. Act. Right. This. Second. That's what is driving the price higher and higher every single day. Once that wears off, logic and sanity will begin to seep back in to their brains and they will set a collective price limit they're willing to pay for a little 300 piece set. (I'll be honest I don't really know what's going to happen and I'm literally making this up as I type. Does it sound convincing?)

For modular, I think it is reaching a stage whereby collectors are more selective as most people do not have huge display shelves at home. There will be some modular there are more sought after, and factors such as rarity will come into play. The rarer a modular building is, the higher will be the demand. So I think the first few modular buildings will see the prices hold up well, and the recent ones will likely see a longer waiting period to make any money. The market will be self adjusting and once people notice that it is harder to make money off the newer modular sets, the demand will drop off naturally.

I think there is some modular fatigue as well. If you're coming out of the dark ages right now, you have like 4 current and one recent modular to start with, so I just think it will take progressively longer for each one to mature. Plus more resellers, etc, etc...

Also, if eBay had promotions like the recent $10 or $5 cap on fees also in past years close to the holidays, this could explain some dip in prices too, since I would expect this to simply result in lower prices.

All the resellers buying armfuls of this ruined it. No offense to anyone because I got caught up in the frenzy as well.
