Let them post that you can become rich buying Lego, as I stated many times at least 75% of the new would be investors and think they can make tons of money fast, well don't last long, just look at all the people on this site that in the last few years you don't hear from anymore well most of them failed. anybody just starting that think they can buy all the sale items and Exclusives and become rich in a year or so are doomed, and after this Christmas there will be many more failures. People are just itching to sell stuff just to make a few dollars, I mean like $5 or so. Ed

This thread saved my life. I just packed six advent calendars using the staples boxes and packing paper Exciter recommended on his OP. I cut my packing time down by at least 75%. No hunting for boxes, no looking for packing materials. Yes, I had to expense these items but its more than worth the time and its definitely lowered my stress level when packing multiple orders. Plus, its nice to have the same size box when entering dimensions into eBay postage calculators. Better yet, storing the paper roll and neat/flattened boxes is WAY easier than the alternative. Highly recommend you read this thread if you haven't already and strongly consider the value of a few minor expenses to help your business or hobby. The Staples deal g3man posted above makes it a great time to pick up some supplies, especially if you took advantage of the Staples gift card last week! For f***'s sake people, chill out. You're acting like one single article presages the full scale collapse of the secondary resale market for Lego. As history has shown us...it doesn't. Although there haven't been many such articles over the years, this is not the first and won't be the last. Although each new article may draw more people in looking for a quick buck, as many have pointed out, the money isn't as easy as many think and most of those folks wash out in a relatively short period of time when the hundreds or thousands that they've dropped on Lego don't multiply over night. As long as Lego maintains its popularity and TLG continues to operate on the same business model as it does today (i.e., with sets that are only on the market for a limited period of time), there will continue to be a secondary market and there will continue to be money to be made reselling Lego on that market. That money may not come in exactly the same ways, same volume on a per set basis, or same timeframe that it has in the past, but that money is still there and will remain there. My margins are lower today than they were a few years back, but I am making far more money overall than I ever did before. If I had freaked out when USA Today did an article on Lego investing a few years back, I would have missed out on all that profit.

I'm not sure it's a "Lego" problem. This seems to be the era of retail arbitrage, and Lego is just part of that patchwork. There are more resellers of everything right now.

What you fail to consider in your theory is that LEGO is not only a collectible, but the most popular toy of all time. There will always be new fans and collectors. All you have to do is look in the eyes of a six year old kid to know that he is hooked for a lifetime and that one day, his kid will have the same look. Lather, rinse and repeat...millions of times.

Like anyone is going to listen to what I say anyway I do not know why some would spend time scaring the new people away. The new people will find out in about 6 months that this is not as easy as a few make it seem to be.

We have been tapping into new markets for years, and things have continued to get tighter for all sellers (as new sellers have continued to outpace new buyers). Why is that trend suddenly going to change???

I just turned 40. 3 years ago, my wife bought me Jabba's Palace...sort of as a gag gift (Not to shabby, right?). I put it together and enjoyed it so much. It brought me back to when I was a kid. Fast forward to today, I have spent probably close to $10k on Lego since then. Just think about how many thousands of other people like me around the world doing the same? Example, somebody buys their kid a Lego set as a birthday gift because they remember loving Lego as kid...they help little Jimmy put it together and BAM!! They are hooked and on the way out the door to go buy another set. Its not all doom and gloom here...

One other thing to add is that there are a large untapped market presenting itself in the next few years as more people realize how "cool" Lego sets are now and that people regret selling or giving away their old Lego. I personally meet about a person a month just coming out of their dark ages and getting back into Lego and these people all have disposable income that I am happy to help them part with.

Well, from their perspective, they'd rather sell that same set 2 minutes later to someone that doesn't care about package condition than to continue to eat shipping fees 3 ways on one item from the same picky condition re-seller. Now if you do this once in a while, you're probably not who they're looking to ban. if you do this 10 times a month they probably dont want you as a customer, and even if its' their 'fault' i get why they'd rather sell to someone that doesnt care. Not saying it's fair, just that its completely logical.

A few minutes ago all LEGO Exclusives that didn't already have limit 1 (e. g. 76023 Tumbler) were set to limit 1 at LEGO Shop at Home EU. For example see: 10188, 10214, 10218, 10220, 10232, 10234, 10236, 10240, 10243, 10244, 10246, 10247, 71006, 71016... One and only exception: 70810 Sea Cow. Something is afoot...

The article is total complete rubbish. UCS falcon and mr gold stashed away in my attic? Oh yeah. I forgot that I had those, duh. Ultra Agents ftw? That's great advice. The damage has already been done and this article is just a reminder. All I'm saying is that if you're loading up on pet shops and palace cinemas thinking you're going to strike it rich, think again. You better be ok with making $25-$50 on your $150 investment in the next 4 years. I'm predicting that both of these sets will stall at $250 post retirement as we get through the reseller glut. I'm buying very little at RRP, including exclusives, because I see greatly reduced margins on the horizon for everyone. Buy cheap if you can folks.

Thanks. It has been hovering around the top in a few categories. Sometimes higher, sometimes now. There is another detailed review of the book over on The Brick Blogger, http://thebrickblogger.com/2015/11/the-ultimate-guide-to-collectible-lego-sets/. Anna always does a great job in her articles, very detailed. I would like to ask again that if some of our members that have purchased the book through Amazon can leave a review (hopefully a positive one) that would helpful. Cost and console constraints? Wired connections are cheap and fast. Wi-fi might increase the cost too much Could prob use Bluetooth if it's data transfer speeds are fast enough in the consoles. I haven't used a video game console since the PS3 so don't know which consoles have bluetooth now. I think the ps4 has version 2.2 which isn't fast. Not sure about the other consoles. Whilst these large technic sets have performed well, the common aspect of them all was scarcity of supply. Times have changed since then. Take you last set example (8110) of which massive hoarding took place: its price performance is far less than the other 3 examples. Everybody went nuts of its potential. I see them sitting on a shelf in a shop close to my work at 199E. Therefore, I do not doubt the 42009 is a splendid set. But the best sets aren't always the best performers. Remember what everybody said about BTTF and Exo Suit...(?) This said, let's hope I'm wrong and that the set shines! That would be good for every brickpicker here! Take care, Good luck.

there is no herd to thin out. i.e. herd is so large that there is absolutely no way it can be sustained. { on top of that amazon is still releasing batches along with walmart and TRU. my speculation is that from now its going to be absent from BB retailer but amazon will still release at least 3 more batches before the end of the month. i am sure most of you noticed that amazon was selling at $39,99 this morning for hours and not taking on the buy-box. :D. It must be their new strategy when such a price difference ( i.e. 39,99 -> $65,00) and still they are not occupying buy-box. based on morning there are going to be three more batches on Nov 20th; Nov 26th and Nov 28th. not sure if they are going to get more after that but at least its confirmed that they are getting some on (11/20; 11/26 and 11/28) or releasing those days. as B-A mentioned so far velocity is pretty low that had over-all resulted in keeping number of sellers under 500 and sustaining prices from collapsing. i am guessing within next 3 week (by 12/09) this thing is going to tank down pretty fast and number of sellers are going to be over 500. { i was concerned with i saw 200+ on delorean but it took off when majority of large quantity holders raised prices } i am also assuming that most of the sellers who are believing on/or thinking(holding) that anything STAR WAR will be sold and have demand after the movie has released are in for a real rude awakening with this set at the very least. this years advent is going to have the same/similar fate of 2012 advent. looks like TLG is really going after re-sellers and making sure they are "never" going to touch "LEGO" again { at least they will stay out of star wars advent for next 2 years }

Wow, didn't expect so much feedback! Not sure if the choice is easier or not at this point, haha. Seriously gave me a lot to consider and I appreciate all of the view points. A lot of good suggestions here and many sets I had not considered (like Speed Champions, SW figure builds, Minecraft, etc). I'm debating how much I can get away with pushing the limit of "$30 value", haha considering some of the sales and discounts available. At the moment a lot of the advice towards Hulk Buster has made that one stick out, as well as the Vader or Grievous builds. Thanks again all, appreciate the opinions

Nice! I bought a bunch of Grievous Wheelbikes from them recently, before they went out of stock. Can't help myself, I've been buying Changing Seasons and City: Service Trucks during the $10 back in points between 12am-6am deal. Also bought a Blue Power Jet in-store and some City: Training Jets. I also bought a K'NEX KISS Rock Stage during lunch at Ollie's. I stop in there like once a year before Christmas. They didn't have much else. Now I have the stage for my figures. $16

These articles are becoming irritating; strike it rich, Lego better than gold, have a root in your loft for that UCS set you never knew you had. Feed the bubble!

Go to Reports/Fulfillment/Inventory Adjustments. Leave the form fields blank and run it for the past 180 days. You'll get a report of how many eff ups they've had at the warehouse.

Therefore I find that it's a good idea to invest in small sets too. Stacking up on UCS and Modulars takes up a heap of space.

Virtual profit is the best kind and doesn't take up too much room in your wallet.

I didn't know about the blue since I am on a no spoilers status. Just couldn't take the orange. I used all new black identical pieces. I have black rubber bands on order from Korea. Also made the afterburners Trans red instead of pink
