You guys asked, and you shall receive. These were taken a couple of months ago, and I don't actually happen to have all the sets. Missing is the Imperial Shuttle, Ewok Village, and some winter village sets. Oh and detectives office is missing as well because it was destroyed by our friend's kid and had to be put back together which it was.

You may have noticed seeing a bunch of mini flags next to user names throughout the forum and wonder what that is about. In the previous version of the forum we did have a plugin that identified the location of where people are from. Overall I think this is good know since the LEGO situation is different in all parts world. Currency, discounts, inventory, special releases and just the overall buying and selling of LEGO is different. At least now you may have an idea that they may be talking from experience from 5,000 miles away from where you are. There is also an added benefit of finding people that are local to you to strike up a conversation. I know we have an active thread for German Brickvesting. Having the flags can allow people to invite others into those topics of conversations a little easier if they see a new member from Germany asking questions. The flags will automatically appear when you login. If you log out and back in again it will automatically update your account. If you do not recognize a flag and hover over it it will give you the country name If you click on the flag, it will open up a window to show you other members that have been identified from that country as well. Hopefully you like this and it adds a little something to the community. Thanks

I think this Lego Ideas submission Tron Legacy Light Cycle looks REALLY good and deserves our support! What do you people think?

I'm just pissed that we get this $350 abandoned firehouse but Lego won't make a nice Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith for a fanbase begging for one. You want to talk about a $350 set that would have amazing secondary market capabilities?(that's not Star Wars) That's it.

The fact that films like Back To The Future or Ghostbusters are still remembered to this day despite so little of any advertising for either over the years compared to the constant in your face franchising of Star Wars to me says more about how good those are by comparison. In some ways I wonder if Star Wars would be as popular today with the current generation if it wasn't for the merchandise always being refreshed. (I just saw a board game parody of "Loopin' Louie" called "Loopin' Chewie".) Trying to accurately scale the fan base for any of these film classics though is like trying to figure the exact (or close to) number of people presently living across the world. This set for what has been seen from the outside is very faithful to the source material which was basically an old firehouse. It may not have been a fancy historic landmark of one but the structure worked and people do remember it as the Ghostbusters firehouse. The point of blandness could easily be made with the older modular house sets in particular the Fire Brigade which was a simple two story firehouse but that did not need to be fancy for what it was. The price on the Ghostbusters HQ set is high and double of a standard modular house however the amount of parts included has also been doubled (small or not). I imagine roughly 2,000 of those went into the facade and characters with the rest detailing the interior which must have every tiny nook & cranny realistically detailed. (The Haunted House only had 2,064 pieces looking great from the outside while the interior was very minimal.) In any case, I eagerly await the Designer video showing off the fantastic interior to match the brilliant exterior.

I sold The Batcave, Spidey Cycle Chase, Arctic Batman, and PowerLex sets for $180 via CL. Glad to thin out those sets.

I have to say I love this forum for the fact that most of the prolific posters are pretty damn close to exclusively investors, and as such, look at Lego through a completely different lens than us normal collectors. I for one and super stoked about this set. Not to mention I would honestly buy any set Lego put out that was over 4,000 pieces. But it's just interesting the dynamic because as a normal collector who likes to open and display, value/popularity really isn't that important. When I show people my room that has every lego set I've bought over the years displayed, they are just in true awe, and want to look at all the sets, even the more obscure/less popular ones. They just are amazed at what Lego can do. And you have to think of it this way too, because even some of these more obscure stuff could end up being of interest to someone that would have otherwise not have known. I think the best thing going for the HQ is the fact that not only is it huge, with tons of exclusive figures, but you can actually FIT the ECTO-1 inside of it. That is such a ridiculous selling point IMO that people will go gaga over when they realize this fact. It may not be such a huge investment winner in some of your eyes, but that's also what's really funny. All the almost set in stone opinions, and the set won't be released for another few months. I also think you truly underestimate the number of normal people who don't really necessarily buy secondary market but buy it on the primary when it's still at retail. I truly have a hard time believing that Lego would release this set without doing some serious market research.

I used this example to my wife a week ago. She has been watching all the Star Wars stuff online recently and she said, "I'm getting really excited for this movie." I told her that 16 years ago I went through the same thing, then I saw what was delivered. I am not a prequel hater, but it failed to meet expectations. Heck, after Phantom Menace, I figured they'd just get better, but then I saw Attack of the Clones and felt renewed disappointment. So, I am attempting to tone down my excitement level, except I have 2 little girls and a wife that have never seen Star Wars in a theater. The whole house is getting excited. Halloween they are Rey and Phasma, and I cannot help but feel like the dad in that new Toys R Us commercial.

And yours? George: Fine, just fine. Rupert: That's good. George: Yup, yeah, good...good. (an awkward silence develops as they take turns at the water cooler) Rupert: Hey you know what we could do today? George: (looks up from his coffee cup. Audience wonders why he now has a cup of coffee if this is a water cooler scene, but they just give it the benefit of the doubt). Rupert: Well, you know how the status updates on the website are always red when something goes to "Sold Out"? George: Yeah... Rupert: Well I was just thinking, you know we could totally change that... in like, just some of the different sets... George: I don't follow. You mean like make the new "Sold Out" tags blue any time we temporarily sell out of something? What's the point of that? Rupert: (frustrated) No, no, no, you're not hearing me. Not all of them. Like, only a few of them.... And not blue either. Blue is a direct contrast to red. I'm thinking something really close to red, like purple or something. George: What about orange, orange is really close to red. Rupert: (excitement building in his voice) Holy crap yes. Orange would be perfect for this. It's almost the same thing, but not exactly. George: (still seemingly indifferent) Okay but why? I mean, why would we do that? (a robotic female voice with just a lilt of a British accent comes over the intercom announcing it's time for the weekly executives meeting in the lounge to laugh about 10188 while execs enjoy pastries and read recent online blog entries to each other) George: Hey I'm gonna go to this meeting. Do whatever you want with the colors dude, I really don't care. Rupert: (Looks at the camera and raises one eyebrow, a smirk beginning to form on his thin Danish lips) ACT II: An online website where people write long and self-indulgent forum posts that take forever for other members to read and go on and on with pointless stage directions and attempts at humor. Especially people with costumed frankfurters next to their names. Forum Guy: Drop everything. The "Sold Out" tag is orange on the ISD! It's orange. It's not red, I know what red is and I've seen red. But this changes everything. It has to mean something. I mean this has to MEAN something. We need to discuss this. We need to! Okay you all get the joke now, I'm not going to beat you over the head with it. I have to get back to work anyways. This took me like 20 minutes to write. God I'm such a nerd.

I think to a few people, it's more like, "WOW, LEGO wasted a 4600 piece set on a big red rectangle!" LOL

The value of this set is clear (even the haters can see that) - Being able to make a profit (from day 1) by purchasing this set is a lock. If someone doesn't like it, don't buy it - If you don't like the boring look of the building exterior, go back and change the movie (because that's just how it looks). There is something to the "Wow, I can't believe that they made that" aspect of a set - and this one (whether you like it or not) clearly has it.

I guess LEGO did some market research with the Prince of Persia, Lone Ranger, Cars, and Toy Story themes as well. It's a cool set, but let's not crown it an iconic set yet. $350 is a lot of money for the regular fan to dish out for a Fire Brigade on steroids.

It's getting more real now. Finally got some copies delivered. A few will be going out for review. Obviously Mom and Dad get one too. At least they can say their kids were able to accomplish something with their lives!

I can see why people are like meh - It's a sort of boring looking building to begin with but when you look at it, its an EXACT replica of the building in the motion picture which is why it has appeal. How wide that appeal is uncertain but with the price point comes scarcity and with scarcity comes profit following EOL. Plus I'm imaging a really cool interior. As Ed pointed out earlier, at the price point, the interior better be real and spectacular. I think this is going to make the Fire Brigade look like a "Bike Shop" size creator set when placed in proximity to each other. I think it is a mistake looking at this from an investing perspective as purely a "Ghostbusters" themed set. This is going to be the largest modular type building to date and guessing a shorter life span whether or not it is a big seller which i tend to doubt it will be. post EOL even non-Ghostbuster modular building fans will want this.

I guess all my extra money from LEGO investing goes right back into LEGO for my own collection ^.^

Hello all, some may remember me and many probably will not. But after a long time away I have finally found my way back to the fold. Life happens sometime and work occupies us....that and the sheer upheaval when work tells you to move halfway across the nation . But I am glad to report I am back and life is now somewhat back to normal. Currently working at restarting my eBay store and starting the massive task of trying to catch up on the wide world of LEGO that left me in the dust quick. Well you're right when it comes to he production of ideas projects but otherwise you're wrong. If sets larger than x (1.000 pieces) will not be allowed to be voted then people just won't submit them. Putting any limits to the whole ideas project pre-production is not in LEGOs interest. As I pointed out before (long before): 1. Free designs for LEGO! I mean even if they do not use them for official ideas sets. 2. Free market research for LEGO! What do people want? How much are they willing to pay for a certain set? 3. Free new ideas for LEGO! 4. Mostly highly popular sets once they decide on a winner. And the best part about it is that they have minimum work with the wholce process --> minimum cost while at the same time they are in total control of the process. So why should they actively limit ideas? They can still pick whatever they like and if they don't like any design they can as we have seen in this case pick none at all.

It's normal PayPal process. The initial dispute automatically locks up your funds, and starts the process of investigation. As long as you upload the tracking documentation when requested, you'll be covered by seller protection and they will release your funds back to you in a couple days.

The first was a build I did from a sealed kit; I found the second on Craigslist in a parts lot, and built it up as well, so I ended up with 2. Fun, fun build, my very favorite Lego build of all time.

This was basically the same thing that happened to me a couple weeks ago. Don't sweat it. PP never took the money out of my account. But what you described as your experience is the same exact thing that happened to me. Different names, but confirmed address. Package was received, and then a week later I get the notice that its in dispute.

I've been trying to stalk out a cheap used 10240 Red Five X-Wing to build for myself (I have some sealed box sets, just don't want to break into them). I haven't pounced just yet, but I did find this gem of an Ebay Australia listing. I think it has to do with they being unable to even produce their regular sets with their current capacity problems. And since IDEAS requires relatively quick concept-to-production cycle a new set could be considered as a pain in the behind.

Hang on a minute. Don't cross the streams. I have to play devil's advocate on this one. Original BTTF is great but by the third movie it just got sad. I can't remember the details but I'm like 47% sure there was a cowboy version of Biff and Marty McFly was running around wearing a Navajo rug. Ghostbusters WAS iconic. The characters were fun, the actors were brilliant. Bill Murray alone is enough reason to watch this movie over and over. I dare you to watch this scene and not love Ghostbusters: Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you. Venkman: What? Spengler: Don't cross the streams. Venkman: Why? Last night and today's project. My son has been bugging me for the police dropship since it was released, so we built it last night. Lots of pieces and a good build overall. I picked up Indiana Jones 7198 - Fighter Plane Attack last week on EBay. It was advertised with a bunch of other sets and he just had a blanket statement in his listings that all sets listed at 97%-99% complete. I noticed it had all the minifigs and most of the accessories. The planes were disassembled, but I took a risk. They ended up 100% complete with the extra pieces and very clean. A real nice condition box was also included. All for $60 shipped. Pretty amazing, in just a few weeks I have all the Indiana Jones sets but a few. I'm only missing 2-3 now I think. Time to take inventory before I complete the set. The listing... The builds

Finished the Trevi Fountain this morning and this has been my largest Architecture model to date (I've not built the houses or the Imperial hotel). I've built enough of these to know what I was getting into: tiny pieces, repetitive elements, tight spaces but this thing wore on my patience a bit. (turning page) "Wait, I need 6 of THOSE now!?!?" ...and I probably spent 10 minutes getting the horses placed correctly. They kept coming apart though I don't think they could more substantial without ruining the scale. Overall fun build. I really like the water bits more than I thought I would (the rocks DID get tedious) and the book/instruction is well done.
