Ferrari F40. Total love-hate relationship with this car... Love: 1) the ways that Lego designers are able to create angles and shapes is absolutely astonishing. I love when I am building a section that I have no idea where it is headed until I pop it in to place. There are plenty of surprises in this build. 2) the wow factor. I gotta hand it to Lego, they have made another incredible vehicle. I was concerned what having two red cars on the shelf would look like, but the either it is a different shade of red or the red on black just pops differently than the T1 on white. It really stands out and looks beautiful. Hate: 1) the stickers. I don't necessarily hate placing stickers on Lego, but these are particular cumbersome because they are so tiny and my fingers completey covered them so I had trouble making sure it was lined up properly. I had to carefully re-lift and place far too many times. These are high-stakes too. If you want straight pinstripes or logos, you better have a steady hand. 2) fragile- I found a way to break it several times during build and my kid and I both found a way to break it after build. It is most definitely a display piece only. 3) lacking "fun" details. The T1 and especially the Mini Cooper raised the bar in regards to the extra factors such as a picnic basket, spare tire, or fan belt on engine kinda stuff. F40 has a sweet engine, but it becomes locked in with the bumper. It can be removed but should not be so tedious to do so. Also the trunk contains a container and some white case or something. Kind of blah. Also the stick to hold up the back car hood would be better attached with a ball joint or something. Overall the end result is a really cool display piece. Looks better in person than on the website and box. A great addition to the cars series, as long as you don't fiddle with it too much! I definitely recommend for build and display, but on the fence for investment some day down the road.7 points

Son and I spent 4 days building the Pet Shop. I never really understood the modular craze, until now. When I saw the pics that were uploaded for the brick bank, I thought it was time to at least get a pet shop before it went. So we bought it this month to have at least one in the collection. This was perhaps the most fun building experience of the many sets that we have done. The details in this set are just awesome, and this blows away all the architecture sets by a mile. I guess, we'll be ordering the other 4.. Don't think i'll be going back on the retired versions of this line, but the fire brigade sort of looks fun.5 points

Companies that are as successful as TLG tend to make money, not statements. PS may go or it may stay (I think it is going), but it won't be because TLG wanted to make a statement to one of the smallest slices of its consumer base (i.e., resellers).4 points

It is a give and take I am doing great on JW sets. they will be gold this Christmas in my opinion whether there is some channel supply or not. I do know many people say factor in labor. However if this is your hobby, I guess instead of working on this you could instead sit on a couch and stare at a wall and charge $0 per hour and be bored. Labor is a factor but only if this is in my opinion not your hobby and you could replace all of the time you spend on it with something at a better hourly rate. In the world today there are a great many people who would not be able to find work to replace it at a more profitable rate while also being a hobby... not directed at you but something that has been on my mind when multiple people have said on BP to factor your labor costs in ... yes factor them in but also factor them against multiple variables3 points

This is a great article and video posted on the home page here at BP (from the Brick Blogger): http://thebrickblogger.com/2015/10/lego-africa-first-time-playing-with-lego/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thebrickblogger+(TheBrickBlogger) My five year-old son and I are going to send a box to this program. He is so "over-privileged" when it comes to the amount of Lego toys in our home. Watching this video makes him understand how lucky he is and it's amazing to me how much he wants to share and help kids who don't have Legos. I hope some of you will donate as well. This is guaranteed to give you lots of good karma for the upcoming holiday season. Tower of Orthanc will pop back into stock at the moment you're sitting at your computer, Death Star will retire three weeks before TFA opens, and Palace Cinema will leapfrog the Pet Shop and retire the day after Thanksgiving... All because you donated an old box of Legos to children who will love them. Now who's the winner?2 points

I agree with everything being said that also being said the demand for JW will far exceed any demand the Tumbler had in my opinion who knows if I am right but I think JW will be just fine for the Christmas flip2 points

Ok here is an update. Things have changed on how we get our data and the format that it is in. It seems that everyone in all the major companies are really either closing doors on data that is given out, or clamping down on how people share info. I have a bunch of code that I need to update in order to work with the new data. I need a few more days to work this out and make sure it's right. The good news is that, based on what I see, I hope that as everything moves forward, it will not need to be monthly updates. It could possibly make it's way to weekly updates, we will have to see. So if anyone asks where is the update, just point them to this post. I will try to get it out there as soon as I can.2 points

Pretty cool. Lego needed a modular bank. But I'm not convinced that the "money laundering" helps the set. I would have preferred an area for ATM machines.1 point

It's not that anyone here thinks you'd deliberately give false information, more that you're basing your predictions on nothing more than hear say supplied by a CS rep. There's a thread already created called 'what I heard from a customer services rep today' and very little ends up being credible. If you believed everything you heard from them you'd end up missing out on a lot of sets. Sure they may be right but if you throw enough s**t at the wall sooner or later some of it will stick.1 point

I love the deli. With two of them you could probably scale it up nicely to fit next to the standard modulars.1 point

Mate, you must be doing something wrong as I've had no problem flipping this set for $25+ profit. Have a better look at your strategies.1 point

This past decade LEGO has been wiser in their color choices for the builds they release. Also the designs have been more realistic/faithful of the source vehicle or location to be recognizable from a glance. So many Town cars from back in the day looked like a box on a wheels making that "Police" sticker necessary to tell it was a patrol car. Today City has curved hoods, various mudguards, and an assortment of wheels with tires. Sounds funny to say but now a garbage truck set looks like an actual real-life garbage truck. Not only in the general shaping but the colors making up the 'paintjob' too. A good example of better choice in colors and designs despite the fatigue for being around long as it has is LEGO Star Wars. The theme's first releases in 1999-2000 were very blocky, bulky, and quite a few large plates stuck together using less than flattering (and sometimes odd) colors. To be fair a handful of the spacecraft they tackled in those early years such as the X-Wing, A-Wing, TIE Fighter, or Bespin Cloud Car were okay then and still alright now to a degree but many were not good back in the day and certainly not by today's standards (the first AT-ST springs to mind). As an example comparing the 2013 A-Wing Starfighter to the 2000 edition between the colors used and shaping, the latest one wins without even trying. Shoot, it won that race standing still. The 2006 version is good though beating the 2000 one almost as easily being about as nice as the later design. Strange thing I have noticed with the parts included in sets across the board today compared to yesteryear is the lack of black. I can remember practically every set I built growing up when things came time to sort, there almost always was a handful no matter how small of parts in black. Lately I haven't been building much as sorting with majority of the pieces from modern releases and a limited few of these were black. Overall it seems as though 'gray is the new black' with it (light & dark) being used in just about everything. Gray can be considered a neutral color and does make up a lot in everyday living followed by subjects in the area of medieval periods and space travel. Look at the amount of gray sprinkled across the current Pirates theme then the massive amounts in Star Wars. Even a bit of gray can be found through the colorful world of Friends hidden beneath the pastel tones. One last agenda I wish to point out regarding the statement from the article of "When Lego first burst on to the toy scene, its bricks came in a very limited selection of colors" is similar to the "parts were simple back then" argument neither of which is true. An older article on New Elementary demonstrates when LEGO first started making bricks (the ones with slits on the sides), they used all sorts of weird colors. It took them a while before finally deciding upon a specific selection of hues. Once again today compared to yesterday, they (the LEGO Company) are being smarter and more conservative in their decisions.1 point

I was faced with a similar question at TRU yesterday... get a Brick Bounty 70413 (have zero in my inventory)... or 2 more Wall-E (already have a handful)? I had to go for Wall-E again... Maybe this set is a good money maker at a $65 buy in... but better than the other options out there right now? I don't know. Has anyone said it yet? ... I think the Bounty could have done much better with black sails ... or even white sails (with a black skull & crossbones)... why did they do the red & white stripe? Is there some historical accuracy to that or something? It just looks like a kids birthday party, not a fearsome pirate ship.1 point

Hello all, I wanted to say high to everyone. Most people probably don't know me as I was one of the newer(ish) members to join about 2 plus years ago. Anyways, I still buy and sell Lego even though my current avenue of work has been WWII mocs for World War Brick which was held in Minneapolis. (Went to that one for my third straight year.) They also hosted WWB out of state in Anaheim, CA and Hartford, CT in 2015 as well. If want to check out some of my builds, please check out my Flickr account which is vikings_football28. (Link.) On a side note, we are doing a Lego Cologne On The Rhine Collab next year for WWB 2016. This collab depicts the famous Pershing vs. Panther duel in downtown Cologne, Germany on March 6th, 1945. The size is currently planned to be 96 studs wide and 144 studs long. We are looking for three more contributors to construct ruined buildings or send parts needed to construct the buildings. (The parts should be tan or dark grey in color. The pieces will be shipped back after the convention.) We have a Flickr group that will have the exact specs of each persons' building and other important planning information.) Thanks, Darth1 point

That's an obvious set to bundle with BB when it comes time to sell them. Who doesn't like Spider-Man? And Doctor Octopus is an obvious reference to the Vampire Squid, aka Goldman Sachs. What a great way to teach kids about the global financial system!1 point

Paypal just "protected" me in a case from 9/29, so it takes some time. Paypal gave me the same message about the credit card company, too, when I called customer service. Paypal tries to get their money first, and if they can't, they should still protect you. I'm just pissed some a$$hat made off with a free Town Hall (in my case). Yes, I have my money, but it's the freakin' principle of the thing which burns me. Good luck.1 point

When my wife and I first moved out, oh so many years ago, our first shopping trip, I bought cheap bread and cheap toilet paper. I was back at the store a couple days later. It was then that I decided to always impart the advice that no matter how poor you are, you *must* buy the good bread and the good TP. It just makes your quality of life that much better.1 point
